500 is a cool saw but no way the best. The 462 better none of the little issues and you can get it regular carb. The 395 would probably be the best ever made pretty much will do anything and run forever.

They are flimsy as a dish rag, bad bushing set up on them,, and the case of the saw is thin ,, I’ve seen two with the engine cases cracked from the chain flying of and hitting it,, theses saws need beefed up if you are gonna run them every day logging , put the bushings from a 660 in them , and put a case guard from a 660 on it two it will help keep the engine case from getting cracked if chain flys of,

That's why you asses the tree from all sides before you make any cuts and I would suggest never doing that agian, if you don't want to wedge just push it. I know the "experts" (20+years myself) say not to but it's a lot safer than cutting off the holding wood to make it fall.

I'd tell em you want your money back and buy or order your saw of choice and make a porting appointment w/Joe Harkness.. you'll have a better running saw and will have the dyno numbers to prove it and won't have to wait.. get a worksaw, not a rip(off)saw

  • @86dieselman

Watching this only confirmed what I already knew. Husky makes the better saws. If Husky has the long standing filter issues this saw has they would have fixed it by now. Never had any fine dust make it past them filter on any of the Husqvarna saws I have. Anyone considering the 500I should check out the 592, it’s a much better saw.

Don’t fault the tree service. They have to protect themselves by taking all precautions not to damage your property. Trust those guys, and not the cowboys with a pickup, a ladder, and no insurance who would have happily smashed your driveway and left you with the mess. Do it yourself is always an option, just don’t pay the cowboy. His entire business model is to undercut the legitimate professional.

As an american, you are not used to this sistem of the handle. But im básque, and in Spain, and many parts of Europe they are the common. You just need a bit of patience, and a lime. Once you get It fixed, can be there for a long time. I have axes from my grandad. Whenever they are a bit loose again, and you have tonfix It. But they have been with the same handle for 20? 40? Years and whenever is ..once every 5 years? A years depending on use? and always safe. If there is still wood at the end, of course..
