Hi, my name is Kate.
I have been making and woodworking for almost 25 years, from a kid messing in the shed, to completing more structured training by studying the level 1,2 and 3 city and guilds qualifications in furniture making design and manufacture.
These qualifications cover hand tools, safe machine use as well as furniture design and manufacture. I make furniture for myself and also teach level 1, 2 and 3 furniture making qualifications as well as short courses at my local college.
I'm still learning and trying out new skills as I do I hope I can share thoughts and ideas with you via this you tube channel and I hope it offers you some time out with mindful entertainment and education while you watch.
Be safe, Best Wishes

Ukulele Build - From a Cabinet Shelf
How I built a ukulele from a cabinet shelf. The timber is Tulip/Poplar and while not a usual wood for an acoustic instrument -the cabinet had special meaning to a friend who owned it, so as much of the timber as possible was used to make the ukulele, creating a fun and unique keep sake.

100 Year Old Toy Box Top Renovation. Patching the Top
Переглядів 362 роки тому
Patching in some damage to the top of a Toy Box - where previous filling repairs had fallen out. A dear friend asked if I could repair a few areas of damage on a toy box their grandfather made, so their own grandchildren can use the box without fear of splinters. I was really chuffed to be asked to take care of such a precious family item, here is how I went about it.

Beautiful work!
@@JackHughes-yx4qj thanks so much! 👍
Super well-produced. Closeups are great. Explanation clear and direct. I've had a Tormek for yeas and still learned something. Thanks for making it. Next time, please wait till you are over your cold so we don't have to listen to you sniffing?
Glad you enjoyed it. 👍
Have finally started on the Matt Estlea side table plans that I've had the wood and plans for ..Just not the courage to chop into some nice Pieces of Walnut.

Why do u have a tormek. What do u do with it
What a slow vid
Slow progress is some progress 😉
@@CatherineKF oh what a great reply😆
Thank you for this good and informative video 😊
I also stated my wheel wasn't square, but it was the bar, not the wheel (diamond wheel), so I had to bend it a little to have it square with the wheel. While truing my stone, I wouldn't dare to take 0,5 mm in one pass, I take 0,2 each time, doing two or more passes, so there are almost no vibes. Thank you for the info. One more sub 🙂
Smaller passes definitely make the job easier. Hope your finding the diamond wheel efficient. I’ve not tried those out yet. 👍
The best angle guide presentation I've seen. Well done and thank-you!!
Wow thanks Greg, so glad it was useful. 👍
Well done, informative video.
Thanks, pleased it was helpful. 👍
Hi, Kate. You and I started using the Tormek about the same time. In the spirit of constructive sharing, may I make a suggestion? In the recent Tormek online classes, they suggest finishing the truing process with rounding the two sharp corners of the grinding wheel with the coarse side of the stone grader. A small radius makes the grinding wheel more user friendly.
@@kens4741 Thanks for sharing the info, Ken, sounds a sensible idea!👍
