Historical romances are so much fun! I still have so many older books to read, I'm trying not to think too much of the less traditionally published historicals right now. I feel like it always ebbs and flows, and hopefully it's just a weird time for them right now. But always happy to read backlists and share those with others. And love the new shelves Hope!

Bookish Melody did a really good video about this just a few days ago. I am noticing there are alot of big authors giving up on HR. Lisa Kleypas, Sarah Maclean and Beverly Jenkins have all either stopped or switched to other genres. It's kind of sad and I feel like I just really got into the genre. I had thought Bridgerton would have brought alot of people into the genre, but it seemed to do the opposite. I think I'll have to start supporting more indie historical romance authors. Great video!!

one of my all time fav neighbours books are the Neighbour from Hell series by RL Mathewson.. funny, romantic and just all in all a good time.

Hope, don't beat yourself up. These slumps happen to all of us. And work pressure can be the most stressful cause of these things. My busy season is late summer through early fall. We just started out slow time, and I want to breathe a sigh of relief. But rather than look at the peace of a few slow months, I'm already dreading the next wave. People retiring, we can't get full-time help, and the help we get is so unreliable that they add more pressure with their constant wanting days off that just keep messing with those of us who do work full-time. I was wanting to try to at least get thirty or so books read this year. This month I'm struggling to finish one book by the end of the month. Fortunately, these slumps usually pass quickly. When I'm seeing I'm having trouble, I will just try to watch some shows or something that makes reading a treat again rather than a slog I have to get through. I will say one thing I've come to loathe on Booktube is the reading challenges. Four years ago, there were SO many channels. Now, there are so few people from back in that day because the challenges seemed to burn them out. It's kind of why I don't like being in the comic book selling business when I delve into it. I don't want my hobby to become my job. So, I try to balance my enjoyment with a little but of the business end. Burnout sucks. On the bright side, you have Ares to jump in and have adventures. Nothing wrong with a cat video here and there. Hint hint. Have a Happy Thanksgiving and an awesome weekend!

Great video! I read several of Julia Quinn’s books and I was not impressed. Extremely poor research and underdeveloped characters, and I also learned the author is not a kind person so I’m not going to pick up her books any longer. If you want to read great Georgian and/or Regency era romances I highly recommend Georgette Heyer.

Nice recommendations, Hope! If you're interested in prize fighting stories, you should check out Robert E. Howard's boxing stories. Reading about 1920's and 1930's fight tales from someone that was living in the period is an interesting experience. It's nice to catch all of that slang the way it was actually used. I read The life and crimes off Richard Ramirez The Night stalker by Phillip de Carlo loved it really good book couldn't put it down.
