I think your overall message about personal finance is good, but you don't mention the inflation of money that has occurred. Inflation is up in all areas but wages are stagnant. Just in the past 4 years alone I've seen house prices in my area go from 350k to 650k. A cheap used car used to cost about $5-10k not even 10 years ago, but now they are 20k minimum for anything decent. College tuition is through the roof as well. Young people are going to have it the worst and many will end up life long renters unless they inherit real estate from parents. Pensions are also becoming obsolete unless you work for the few handful of professions which are usually government. I will also add that you likely went to law school when tuition was cheaper. Law school today is insanely expensive. I used to work at a collection agency full of lawyers and most were complaining that they couldn't bankrupt their 300k in student loan debt. And that was 15 years ago. Another friend of mine is a Pharmacist and got a PharmD (doctorate of Pharmacy) from a local college and she's in 250k of debt and still renting an apartment -- her debt to income ratio is too high for her to qualify. As I said, you have great advice here, but you started your life during a time when prices of real estate, stocks, college tuition, cars, ... literally everything was cheaper.

I sold my truck last September. Time to retire, and have absolutely no regrets. God bless the actual truckers still running the freight. I believe it was Jan 2023 i pulled into a FJ for the night and i wanted to watch the NFL playoffs. I have a handicap placard and luckily there was an empty spot.near the speedco shop. But when I circled around in front of the shop to back into the space a KLLM rig was just sitting in my way. There wasn't room to get into the spot. I got out of my truck and limped up to the Kllm to see what the issue was. It was a younger woman just sitting in the drivers seat with a deer in the headlights look on her face. I asked her did the truck die? It was a fairly new truck. She answered, I can't back up. I ask, where's your trainer? She answered, " i don't have a trainer". SO, I made several attempts to direct her to essentially back up in a straight line into the space. But she had no ability to back that rig into the parking spot. So I made the decision to ask if I could back the truck up for her and she agreed. Now the whole time i tried to direct her into the space i could hear the steering creeking and popping. Once I was behind the wheel, I found that the power steering was WAY low on fluid. I backed the truck into the spot just enough that the driver needed to finish backing the remaining 53 feet. My truck was a 2014 KW T660 and it didn't make any suspension noises what so ever. Anyone that is a seasoned truck driver that has taken it upon themselves to be s trainer is an absolute asset to the industry IF they make the decision to properly educate a new driver to be be a professional. KLLM is a disaster waiting to happen.
