This worked great. Just a few comments: 1. i have a Ring alarm system, and you don't have to worry about aligning the two parts of the contact sensor in a certain direction, as long as they are parallel and no more than 1 inch apart. The directions do warn you to allow at least a half inch space on the side of the part that holds the battery, so that you can slide the battery compartment open, to change the battery. 2. I had to use WD-40 on the hinge, so that it would be loose enough to work. 3. I discovered that there is a one-minute delay from the time you set the alarm, to the time it is actually armed. There is also a one-minute delay from the time the contact sensor connection breaks, until the alarm goes off. I wonder if there's a way to shorten those times. ???

The simple act of untwisting the strands may have been enough to introduce CRCs errors as well. Great video!

Great video! Although, one suggestion would be to disable the subtitles since they block most of the view of the CLI.

‘hop limit’ is the term in the context of IPV6. The TTL incremented for some non-IP network layer protocols such as IPX.

I like the fact that you can create links while running, unlike eve-ng. 200$ per year isn't that bad, maybe you'll be done with the professional once the trial is over.

This was a great video. Congrats! I too was a cable technician-for 15 years. The trap of being a cable guy, especially a cable contractor, is you never have time for anything other than the job (6 day work weeks, 11+ hours per day). I always wanted to get out, but never had the time to study to do something else. I am currently working as a Network Administrator and studying to obtain my CCNA. It’s a great thing to see talented cable techs make it out of the grind!

I watched this video 2 years ago. I was a cable technician working 6 to 7 days a week. Life was miserable. Got sick of that life, quit my job, spent 9 months at home studying full time. Got my Sec+, Net+, CySA+ and about to get my CCNA. As of February 2024, I'm a network administrator L2, starting net eng bachelor's degree paid by my employer and I've never been so happy. Thank you for the inspiration you gave me 2 years ago.

That's amazing to know! Could I ask you, when you studied and eventually passed the many certifications that you mentioned, was the knowledge you gained from studying for those sufficent enough to get a job? When you became a network admin, did they teach you how to do your job or were you expected to already know what to do? For me, that's the intimidating part. I want to understand whether or not the knowledge you gain while studying and passing certs is enough to literally be able to do your job when you DO eventually find it.

does anyone know if this device lets you attach a ssd drive. So the ssd drive has its own sata power to teh drive but the sata data from the drive gets plugged in to this device with the 9 pin usb connection. I heard that usb 2 mother board headers only allow 2 usb splits but would this device work lets say the same wiring set up above but with 3 ssd drives connected to the hub
