Love Is Blind, Naps and Chicken Wings with Alex Byrd
Is love truly blind? This week, Susie sits down with Alex Byrd, a memorable participant from season 7 of Love is Blind, to uncover her honest take on the experiment. Alex spills behind-the-scenes tea, from the infamous fight that had everyone talking to her viral nap moment and even the time she unapologetically ate chicken wings while being dumped. They dive into the emotional highs and lows of filming, the challenges of building trust in the pods, and how she navigated the chaos once the cameras stopped rolling. Alex also shares where she stands today with her castmates, reflecting on her failed engagement and lessons learned. It’s a candid and compelling glimpse into love, reality TV, and everything in between.
Keep Up with Alex:

    Again, so well done Susie. Your conversations and segments flow so naturally. Your set always looks great. And the British voice over which makes me laugh out loud... I have no idea what your long term career goals are, but I know that you have a special something with your talent and skillset.

      @michelleacevedocallejas2177 2 місяці тому

      lol I call my mom every day. I think it depends on the reasons you are calling and specific health circumstances of your parents. But I get it that a lot of people do have codependency with their parents so it can be a red flag.

    Love this podcast and huge kudos to Susie because it's rare to see a white host make the effort to spotlight the voices of people of color (not that it should be that much effort, because there's so many of us). Just some constructive feedback for Natalie: If there's anything I've learned personally being in the world of science, it's that the more you know, the less you know. I think anyone who spends a long time in any field would agree. Although I understand it's important to have a confident tone to convey your expertise, I felt disappointed that there were so many things that were said with too much certainty about the extremely complex and honestly, not-that-well researched narcissistic personality disorder (NPD). I work alongside many seasoned professionals in the world of psychology, and I've been lucky to hear the way they talk about disorders that many of the public are eager to learn. Being as seasoned as they are, all of them would agree that it would be irresponsible and overly simplistic for a professional, let alone someone not in the field, to label someone with a disorder like NPD. Many might say that it's actually more rare than we think to run into someone with true NPD, but really, it might be someone who has a lot of narcissistic traits. This nuance is so important to recognize when it come to treatment and someone's perceived ability to change, and we owe it to the public to stress how nuanced a lot of these conversations in psychology are--in many things about the world. So glad we're bringing awareness to abusive relationships and listing out signs when we can, but I just think there couldn't been more humility reflecting the research and room for nuance. Dr. Kirk Honda does an amazing job of doing this at his UA-cam channel: @PsychologyinSeattle. He's a PsyD and a LMFT and has been in practice since 1996. He's also been a professor in psychology since 1998. His videos are deep dives on certain psychological conditions and he also reacts to the psychology of several people in reality TV shows. The most important and valuable part of his style is that he is very nuanced, objective, empathic, and true to the research. Thanks reading if you've gotten this far! ua-cam.com/video/7aTUa0w17fs/v-deo.html (Kirk's deep dive on Narcissistic Personality Disorder.)

    I am appalled by what these producers are putting you through all throughout the first season of the TSLOMW series: not only did they parade the Taylor Frankie Paul episode to create "hype", but also made a public spectacle of Zack and Jennifer Affleck's drama story! I love you, guys, and my heart breaks for you! This is terrible. : (

    The term "cult" is not to be thrown around lightly: honestly, and this kind of ties in with the topic, I am horrified by the sheer amount of either ex-LDS or just regular people who flip the bird at you for no good reason. Really, guys? How many more distasteful "parody videos" do we actually need? By the way, I am appalled by what these producers are putting you through all throughout the first season of the SLOMW series: not only did they parade the Taylor Frankie Paul episode to create "hype", but also made a public spectacle of Zack and Jennifer Affleck's drama story! I love you, guys, and my heart breaks for you!

    A little constructive criticism .When you have a guest who is long winded I think it is okay to edit somethings out. Maybe you could tell your guests ahead of time that you might be doing so if the podcast runs too long. For me I only listened to half because she took so long to tell the story.I’m not criticizing her ,In fact I’m long winded myself.It is just that as a viewer it can be a bit annoying and takes to much of my time to listen to the whole thing.And I’m not one to pick it back up like I would a book. Perhaps other viewers feel the same ?? Anyway ,I wish you the best ,and will continue tuning in for other stories .
