The last MLF Toyota Series event of the season was a tough one, but like always I walked away learning a ton. Huge Congrats to Christian Melton for winning Angler of the Year by sealing the deal here on the Delta!

I am building a dedicated Crankbait setup for the delta, what is a rod you would recommend? I am looking at the 7’6 MH Shimano Expride Glass B, what are your thoughts Ken?
kayaks? your faces come out all the time!
Hey Ken, would you recommend the bantam? I’ve heard it’s great for deep cranks.
@@Brandonkanzaki Batam is a great reel due to its un there is no flex in the reel. Due to its 150 size, it’s easy to hold when cranking those big crankers
Congrats on the win today in Oroville. I love the passion you have for not only the sport, but also life.
@@tony56shooter thank you. Fishing is a part of our lives where we can share in our passions.
Thanks for the share. I weighed in 9lbs and some change saturday 😂.

How long is your leader of floro
@26dayne 7 to 10 feet. Long enough to not reel the knot into my reel when casting.
Thanks for sharing this!
@@grhodes3536 thanks for watching 👊👊👊
Appreciate the recap!
@johnolivas9984 thanks for watching
Great breakdown!
@@chadsweitzer325 thank you
You really have to focus on obscure spots to do well. Punching and frogging the obvious spots wont cut it.
@@RobAnguiano thank you for the suggestions 👊👊👊
Nice job my Ken out on the delta. What color is that jackhammer?
@@FishingwithMatthew6745 that was bhites hot crawwww.tacklewarehouse.com/Z-Man_Evergreen_Chatterbait_Jack_Hammer/descpage-ZEJACKX.html?from=KMAH
Could you do a “delta theory” video on talking about how the delta has changed as a fishery and trends you have noticed. For example it seems this year lots of people have been going to the extreme far corners to catch their fish. At my least my observations. Thanks, love the breakdown videos.
Chemical spraying has gotten out of control. A lot more water running through the system. Unprecedented amount of tournament pressure. You really got to know what you're doing to get decent bags these days.
@@RobAnguiano I can see all those playing a factor. I have only fished it seriously for about 5 years and it is a different world even then. I’m just wondering if like any other lake we may have some sort of cycle that will work for us in the future. Especially with all the water coming down. Even though it may not be what it was, it still seems to be the one best chances of getting a double digit. I know there is a lot of negativity about what it used to be and how it’s being ruined but I have more fun out there than anywhere else.
@@Riley201dc I’ll see if I can get to do something like that. Thanks for the feedback and suggestions
Thank you so much for your recap. I really enjoy them! Best of luck up on the Columbia. Can't wait till you get back to the after Bay event! I had one question on your vibrating jig rod. I was curious how long of a leader you tie if it goes into your reel or not? Thank you, Ken! 🙂
@@johnhill2298 I usually use a 7-10 foot leader. I don’t line feeling the knot into my reel when I’m casting, so that’s usually about right with a 7.5 foot rod.
@@kenmahfishing Thank you Ken, I appreciate it! 💯
Great stuff, recap videos done right!

What type of spinnerbait were you throwing? Do you like double Colorado instead of double willow on the delta?
@@gligh01 www.tacklewarehouse.com/Booyah_Covert_Double_Colorado_Spinnerbaits/descpage-BYCDCSB.html?from=KMAH
@gligh01 spinnerbait is very situational I don't have 1 that I always throw. Water color, weather, sunlight all factor into this decision. Early in the year I like this one www.tacklewarehouse.com/Blade_Runner_Double_Willow_Spinnerbait/descpage-BLDRNSP.html?from=KMAH Delta craw Then as the water starts clearing I like white, white/chart. Darker the water the more I like gold
Great video Ken nice to hear about the work you’ve been putting in, glad to see you using that Chad shad

Thanks for that breakdown. Great insight into your strategy, thinking and choices that most don't or aren't able to communicate so clearly. Good luck going forward this season.

I sure appreciate your recap! I am really looking forward to you taking thermalito afterbay again! The best of luck on the rest of your season! 🤙
Looking forward to that in September. That is a great fishery
Can't wait to see how you do. Best of luck!🤙
Hi Ken. Do you know if you're going to be able to prefish thermalito afterbay?
I’d rather not spend $600 on one battery

Its not that serious bruh😂😂😂
Thank you! What a great tip! I will definitely give that a try! 🤙
Thanks for being here
I appreciate you taking the time to share tips with us! You completely blew me away several years ago when you won the apex afterbay tournament in Oroville. In the hot dog days of summer you shared at the end. The fish wanted it faster you were punching grass that could have been done with less than an ounce and told us you kept increasing the weight until you got to an ounce and 3/4. Keep doing what you do brother! You never cease to amaze!!💯
It’s cringe watching hooksets. Almost looks like power lifting. Jesus Christ calm down it just swallowed a f*cking hook I don’t think it’s getting away
It's not that serious bro 😂
