Great 3D Games on Apple Vision Pro – No Controller Necessary!
A few of my favourite games on Apple Vision Pro (after just a couple of weeks) that you play entirely with pinch and gaze gestures. Yes, there are other games you can play with a controller, but I'll highlight some of those in a future video. If you have any favourite games or experiences on Vision Pro, please comment below or connect with me on Mastodon and let me know!

Some of the views enjoyed from Tinto Hill overlooking the Clyde Valley in Lanarkshire. Tinto is a straight-up, straight-down walk on an easy and wide path, ascending to a height of 711 metres (the walk itself ascends 486m). I am soooooo dissapointed that the personas HAVE to be based on our real faces😭. Seriously, I'm ugly asf and want to be able to fix that by escaping into the VR world and choosing everything about how I look. For me that's honestly the whole point of VR. The Meta Quest 3 for example, allows you to choose everything about how your avatar looks. You can be as hot and pretty of a girl on there as you want, which is literally the whole reason I even bought the Quest in the first place. Ngl, I used to be interested in the vision pro, until I saw how restrictive the spacial personas are. Hopefully in a future update Apple will give us full customization options for avatars just like Meta. But until then, I will never ever put my hands anywhere near the vision pro. And it really pains me to say that because I'm a huge VR enthusiast😥

    Have you tried the Quest 3 and the Spatial App is exactly like a vision pro menu icon window layouts and everything and the thing with the vision pro is it cost to much and a £500 device does everything it does apart from the eye tracking and to make up for that the Quest 3 supports WebXR which allows you to play games and apps straight from the browser with novdownload needed just straight into the app or game and play and the vision pro doesn't have that feature built into safari

    Thanks, David. I have been trying to figure out the usefulness of this device for my daily work for about 2 months. There are so many biased opinions out there that make videos like yours highly appreciated, since you simply uncovered the product, put it on your head and described your experience as you felt it in the moment, without complicated conclusions. Thanks for that. I'm about to buy a device to find out for myself. If it meets the purpose I will dance with joy, if not, wth, will drink half a bottle of cognac to forget those 5,000 spent. 😆😭

    • @adavidstroud
      @adavidstroud Рік тому

      3D movies and entertainment will have a resurgence when it's "virtually lifelike" and that hasn't happened yet. Quest 3 resolution is OK but not a game-changer. It can't be, because they also need it to be cheap for mass adoption. Apple is coming at it from a different angle, and that's OK. Both are valid. But high quality/resolution immersive video AND audio will be needed for a true resurgence. I can't wait to get there either!

  • @hummersd

    It's so promising. It's the future we've always wanted, and though VR headsets have laid the groundwork, it's back to Apple's focus -- to only enter a market if they think they can do it better. If this ends up delivering what they showed (and the invited press and vloggers said it did), then it will be the next iPhone -- albeit, at a much higher price point; it'll replace Macs before iPhones, but it's still an incredible avenue of technology. The iPhone 15 Pro able to take Spatial Videos later this year means content being created by the consumer is an entire new platform. Looking forward to Vision Pro's release and subsequent versions that are more affordable. No longer can naysayers say that Apple isn't innovating. They've not only built something years ahead, but they built an amazing ecosystem to go with it. The new AirPods Pro 2 with USB-C has a better H2 chip that will work with Vision Pro for lossless audio. Having all the OS systems integrate to be able to view content seamlessly between platforms could only be done with vertical integration of systems. Is it perfect? Nope! I can't get my old Apple Watch connected to my new iPhone. lol. But having hardware, software, and services integrated is a sound business strategy. Think of all the new types of content AppleTV+ will be able to produce! Live Sports, live concerts, interactive immersive games. I'm sure there will be some backlash that continues to get people out of virtual worlds and into the real world, but think of the other possibilities tech can be used for good -- the medical field, environmental simulations, etc.

    • @adavidstroud
      @adavidstroud Рік тому

      Haha, thanks for the comment! Reminds me of Phil Schiller's comment, "Can't innovate any more, my ass!" 😉 And yes, absolutely sign me up for a virtual seat at a concert with HIGH QUALITY spatial audio as well as video -- which hasn't ever been done. Yes, there are 180 or 360 videos of concerts on UA-cam VR but the quality is pretty sketchy. Meanwhile, spatial audio on iPad/iPhone with AirPods is already very impressive. Apple is skating to where the puck is going. When you can record AND deliver spatial audio AND video in an immersive way... 💥

      That ability is coming soon to iPhone 15 Pro, yes. Can't wait for it. I wonder what the playback/storage situation will be like... "spatial videos" will take up a lot more space, and I wonder how we'll be able to share them with others. Will UA-cam/Vimeo etc create separate "spatial video" offerings, kinda like UA-cam has UA-cam VR for VR-180 and 360 videos? (not that I'm a huge fan of how they've implemented it).

      It's easy to dismiss new tech @SantaAnaCreations but it all depends on the software being developed and how it integrates digital content with the world around you. Given it's essentially a full Mac computer (with the M2 chip), this device could already replace a lot of people's laptops (any MacBook Airs currently available) for a lot of casual use. In terms of '3d tv', the Vision Pro will deliver an experience as good, if not better, than the cinema in some ways -- remember it's full-brightness 3D (not the darker picture you get as a result of having to wear glasses at a 3D cinema screening). And as for not fitting into everyday life, neither did the television when it first came out, and look what happened! It'll be interesting to see what happens, for sure 🙂

    I'm equally excited buddy. VR is going to be absolutely amazing and IMO will bring experiences only the ultra rich can enjoy to the masses. Like you live in a tiny crummy 1 bedroom apartment but you put on your headset and live in a massive castle with all the entertainment (but way more) of those multi million dollar homes. The virtual reality will become a great substitute for our real one. While I'll probably be waiting for the $2,000 standard vision pro release because this also needs time for more apps to develop so it has more use - I still think $4,000 can be considered a bargain for what the thing will replace and allow you to experience. I had a great time with the Quest 2 even just using big screen and the app that connects to your computer to bring that screen into all kinds of virtual environments. It is game changing tech for entertainment, but it needs a little more time and even just resolution upgrades - that the vision will provide. I might look at buying a Quest 3 in the mean time for $500 and enjoy that until the standard Vision comes out in 2025. Either way, I have no problem replacing my boring life with what a virtual one can offer and am excited to experience it. I do think in 2-5 years time, this will dominate entertainment. People drop 20-50K (five to ten times the cost) without thinking about it on a new car, so it's all relative. Spending 2-4k on an amazing, cutting edge piece of tech is hardly a bad purchase, IMO.

    • @adavidstroud
      @adavidstroud Рік тому

      Agree with a lot of what you say @ryanguy6789 although as with any new tech, balance is the key. I don't think anyone should "replace" their life with virtual reality. I think Apple's approach -- emphasising how it blends digital content with your real world -- is the best way to consider and adopt a piece of technology like this. It'll take a while for the software ecosystem to mature, as with any tech... but getting in on the ground floor with this first iteration of the headset will be super interesting, given the advances in screens, sensors and computing power they've managed to fit into it. Exciting times indeed!

      @@joanacosta2020 Hi Joana, I haven't completed it (didn't work) yet but will be buying a more powerful exterior hard drive on which to have the PC OS and simulator Program and then I will try to use that disk as a starter disk for the mac. - fingers crossed

    David could you also use an exterior hard drive startup disk and just use that on the Mac?

    Try Adobe prelude. One stop shop for video prep and metadata.

    Freakin' brilliant. Thanks! I had the same issue with the Xinyu files and I REALLY wish I had seen this before I had to go through them all.

    I'm not doing all this crap for a simulator! this is bs. Why don't they make a Mac version instead?????????????????

      No idea, but hey don’t shoot the messenger! Also it’s really not that difficult or time-consuming to install bootcamp and windows if you wanna run this, or any other windows stuff. But yes, a Mac version of the simulator would be great. Come on DJI.

    HI, i downloaded and followed all the steps but when flying, it’s very lagged. It takes approximately 1 second for the response. Any solutions or advice? I’m using a MacBook Pro 2017

      Not sure to be honest, having not tried this on a MacBook. Do other windows apps seem to lag?
