Would using rustoleum filler primer be a addition to just spraying that on. Would want to use that primer then sand prime again then use that paint
Tonight is snowing I was 1 hour from home my truck do the same I watch you video and I did the same truck start right up I make it safe to home thank you so much 😊
Where did u buy the vent from for the tank
hey good explanation, thank you
Good to know! Gonna keep that one in the back of my mind. I had this issue but also my transfer pump wasn’t coming on found someone had stole my pcm diode at some point.
Noticed you maintained the factory upper control arm for the install, how’ve they held up? I’ve been wanting to do a 2 or 2.5 leveling kit but worried about reusing the factory control arms, but I’m not seeing a lot of control arms made for these kind of kits. Usually for actual lift kits.
The spring of the accelerator pump should sit on center top of the diaphragm.,
Active duty military. Just bought a 68 rust bucket doing the exact thing your doing man when the money is able to go to the truck it will.
This was a huge help i have the same machine with the same problem. Thanks for taking the time and putting this out there
Thanks so much for posting this video. I have the same splitter and it started leaking a couple months ago. I just ordered the seals and am sure the job will be much easier with your insights. Well done, very much appreciated.
How’s it running with the Fitech?
Great video, I have a 35 ton Dirty Hands Tools (no longer in business) and it looks the same as the county line one. Will be replacing the seals on mine this week and this was a big help since I have never done it before.
This makes me so happy! My wife is mad that I picked up a 71 c10 complete truck to part out while I was working on my 64,70 and 72😂… I’m not the only one who “has a problem…
At least you admit you have a problem!😂
They say that's the first step anyways
I did a 3" drop spindle and 2" pancake on the crossmember. then I got tubular lowers for more clearance. stock uppers.
I foresee a set of tubular lowers in my future at one point or another. How do you like them and the ride?
@@BarnBuiltFabrications they ride just as good as the stock arms I welded bag plates into... About an extra inch of clearance at least tho and no way to crush them like the stock sheet metal version (which I did)
Awesome video
Did you take the inner seals out ? The sealed bearings take inner seals to hold axle oil towards the third member the wet bearings have outer seals and need the oil to come out to them
I did not. From what I researched it was exactly what you are saying, however, when I took apart the axle it had both an inner and outer seal with the same type of bearing when I took it back together. I figure if it wears out prematurely I will have my answer!
Thanks for reminding me to pay someone else to do this. 👍🏻
Don't be discouraged it is a lot easier than it may seem.
If you didn't undo the cv axle, why did you take the brakes out?
nvm just say in some parts the cv axle basically was out. You didn't use a vacuum to hold the 4x4 pressure. That isn't bad?
@@txkinggI was wondering the same thing. I’m installing the RC 2” kit on my 2018 this weekend.
Good question! I did it for a couple reasons being 1.) The caliper needs to come off to allow for the knuckle to come forward without damaging the brake line 2.) So I could get access to the ABS sensor that is tucked behind the dust shield 3.) I did not take the CV axle fully out but I needed to undo the nut for it because i needed it to be able to slide back into the knuckle to allow for the knuckle to come forward enough. Additionally the less weight with the rotor being off just makes it easier to handle so you are not fighting it as much.
There is no pressure when the truck is off. No concern there.
How did you make out with the install?
Good help
I knew something was wrong with the rear end of my truck i noticed the u bolts were not strait but i would of never thought the blocks were backwards
Seems like a silly thing to get backwards but its a lot easier to do than you'd imagine.
This helped me alot when doing my pump 👍
Im glad it helped!
Did it move the angle where the drive shaft and axle connect ?
It will, yes.
Awesome video man!!! I’m just a good ole country boy with not much extra money. So… I have to try and fix things myself. I watch A LOT of UA-cam videos just like this one to help me and it makes things A LOT easier!! Again, thank you for taking time to make a video. Now I guess I gotta go buy me a tractor to pull that piston outta that cylinder!! Lol I’m probably going to try a come-a-long first. If that doesn’t work I’ll go shopping for a tractor!
I hear ya man same thing here. Try the come along and if that doesn't work it seems like a great excuse to buy a tractor to me!
Man that seems like a lot of disassembly to get to the front struts. I feel like every other vehicle I’ve worked on was a lot less work. Looks great though, nice job
Pretty standard for the leveling kits I have done in the past. I guess you could try to get the struts out while leaving more stuff together but I have always found that the "quicker way" tends to not be worth the hassle in the long run.
@@BarnBuiltFabrications100%. I‘ve only done coilovers on a few cars, and a lift on a Jeep and didn’t recall it being so many things to take apart. Whenever I pick up an f150 I’ll be using this as a guide. Thanks!
Why didnt he just use a come along
His come along was broken and the ratchet strap handles were bending before the cylinder would pull out.
So this element not working will stop it from starting? Is this a safety thing?
It is just part of the starting circuit and the short blows a fuse. The heating element isnt on its own circuit is all.
Anyone ever tried tack welding a hex nut on carriage bolt head for something grab with a wrench to reduce movement?
You could try that
Awesome video straight to the point
Glad you found it helpful!
Waiting for more info
I have a backlog of videos I am about to be uploading including the reassembly of the C10's engine. Stay tuned!
Great video, this has happened to me before and did again today… I do have a magnet stick like yours but mine was too big to fit. Upon reading the comments I came across something else you mentioned about using a straw. I immediately ran inside to grab one and it came out first try. Thanks again🤙
Glad you were able to get it with the straw. Definitely not the best design on Ford's part.
protect your lungs, young man.
Is this for a 351m/400?
That is what it is on but it is not exclusive to it. You can find whichever one you need (GM, FORD, ETC) by doing a google search or through the big names like Jegs or Summit.
What size tires are on the truck?
275/60R20
Guessing this is the 2.5" version? Good to post part# too.
This specific one is a 2.25" and part number is 11385
were any nylock nuts have to be replaced
like in the ball joint I mean
No I did not need to replace any of the factory hardware outside of what was provided in the kit.
@@BarnBuiltFabrications Thanks
Did the rubber hose work to reinstalled the oil pump shaft? What did you use to hold down the shaft to remove the hose? 1980 F150 with 302.
It did. You can use anything that will fit inside of the rubber hose to push the shaft out with such as a small screwdriver or something of the like.
How many freez plugs are they on my 5.0 1985 Ford 150
I would consult your manual to get the most accurate information. You will have some on the back of the block by the bell housing though which will require that trans or engine be pulled to access.
is the spring for the accelerator pump supposed to go into the hole? mine was on the outside towards the cap end
Good catch! Went back and reviewed my disassembly of it and the spring was on the cap end.
Does this affect the ride at all AND will it be much tougher getting for my wife who's 5' tall to get in and why these and not the aluminum ones?
Personally any change in ride would be in your head for something so minute of a change like this. My grandfather is 80 and about 5'6" and has no issue. He does have running boards that help. I don't think your wife would have much of an issue. Went with these mainly for cost. The spacer is only under compression and not any tension or shear so there is no concern for part failure with running these.
@@BarnBuiltFabrications Thanks I ordered mine and hope to get to it this weekend- and use your video as a guide- Thanks again. Great to hear about your Grandad-
You can put the seals in a bowl of water and microwave them for about 15 seconds to soften them up a bit.
This is a great idea that I will be sure to use in the future. Thank you!
Dude I can’t believe this truck run with that sludge in the coolant 😂 , just a testament to the durability of the 4.9
This is a 5.8 351M but regardless yeah certainly not loving that gunk in there.
Appreciate the help brother man keep up the build!
More to come soon!
Good vid man
Thank you!
Excellent video!
Glad you liked it!
This looks just like the flowmonster tf
Most mufflers look very similar and truthfully they are in most ways. Muffling and sound comes from the internal baffles and dampening material used.
Do you still need a ground?
From what I have read, you do not need a ground, it grounds through the bolts, but it is still suggested to ground it to the engine block.
As @cafcintheusa2 said, grounding is done through the block so no additional grounding is necessary.
thanks friend, that was THE most useful/encouraging video I've found on doing this without pulling the engine. hopefully it works for my '81, too.👍
I salute you brother, good luck! Bring some patience with you and try not to light the truck on fire in the process, albeit tempting at times.
I'm thinking that I would have mounted the swaybar on top of the arms because from what I see the swaybar is a few inches off the ground and that is going to get caught on anything in the road. If on a dirt road a buried rock could be sticking out enough to hit it and possibly destroy all of the work that you have done. 😮 Not to mention that most rear swaybars are mounted at or close to the rear axle itself.
On top is not a bad idea. I was trying to go as similarly as per the instructions when I did it. Luckily this truck shouldn't see too many dirt roads and I see upgraded tubular trailing arms in the future.
It's one of the best informative u tube videos. Do you have seal kit # by chance
I am glad you found the video helpful! The kit I used was from Amazon. I will attach the link in the description.
