I ate a Sugarfire Smokehouse brisket sandwich with macaroni & cheese. The national anthem was sung by Mr. Charles Glenn. Kurt Warner was in attendance. The Birmingham Stallions defeated the San Antonio Brahmas 25-0 at the Dome at America's Center.
Thank you for doing these videos. I learned so much about St. Louis.
Thank you- I really appreciate it.
I lived back there on Cleveland Place throughout my 20's when I first moved to St. Louis. SW Garden is very special to me. I loved all my neighbors. Everyone looked after each other and we were all close friends. It defined my 20's, being young. There were many drunk nights, spending summer days in the park, and even going through the pandemic lockdowns. It was just me and my two cats until I met my partner and moved to a different part of town. The neighborhood really transformed while I lived there. It used to be artsy, now gentrified for yuppies. Rent prices are too high after I watched building after building gutted and remodeled.
Thanks for the info and sharing your story. It gives us some good insights into your viewpoint. I'm glad you found the video and thanks so much for watching. I'm glad you have some good memories of it.
@@organstl you can find really good stuff in the alleys during bulk pick up
These are brilliant. I worked in STL for five years so great to watch these from the UK. Thanks ever so much for creating them.
Thanks so much for the kind words. That makes it all worthwhile for me. I'm glad you found them. Much appreciated.
You need to get over to Laclede’s Landing and document the new market/deli down there. Before it vanishes. I hope it does not, but…😬
Jovick Brothers Cafe? It looks cool.
Fascinating facts, especially on Cardinal Ritter and Sumner HS. There is a high school here in Sarasota, Florida that has just been restored that I swear is a carbon copy of William Ittner's design. One of these days I am going to stop and try to see if there are any plaques on the wall indicating its architectural history. The building is now an art institute. Thanks for posting.
I'm not surprised at all by anything he has done anymore or anything of his that has been copied. It's rather remarkable- like you said- his buildings are everywhere. Thanks for watching. I was worried about being repetitive a little, but I'm actually pretty happy with how this one turned out. Now I think it's really good actually. Yes the Ritter story and Chuck Berry's home and the Shelley House are all unique so it turned out good. I've walked around a heck of a lot lately to get these done 😆
are you doing ok after the hurricane?
People changed the world that came out of that neighborhood.👍🏼…very good..give us a hint on your next neighborhood..lol
Thanks so much for the comment. I honestly don't know- I would give you a good hint if I did- I don't know if I will get the chance to go out this weekend- I've been going at it pretty hard lately. I'm glad to have gotten this much done so far. I really appreciate the support.
Ittner also designed most of the high schools in Gary Indiana. Every time I see one of this schools in your videos I think of Emerson High School in Gary. They all look very similar :)
That is cool. It is amazing how many he did. Thanks so much for watching and the comment.
Thank you.😢😮😅😊
You're welcome. Thank you. 😀
Beautiful area
Thanks for checking it out.
You really know St. Louis, dude!
Thanks for watching and the kind words. I really appreciate it.
I see it's Sunny's Cantina now. Yup, KO'd a feller in there back in the day.
Oh my goodness!
@@organstl My cousins grew up on the 6600 block of Dale - the granite stone house adjacent to the storefront wraparound at Louisville.
@@joeschmo2693 That's awesome- right in the heart of Dogtown pretty much- not even too far from where the parade is on Tamm Ave.
A lot of new stuff, but a lot of stuff that's been around for years, still there. Used to cash my checks at Columbo's. There used to be a bar down at Manchester & Kraft called Swaps where I scored my only career knockout, circa '88. I swear, I was walking past Tech Elec. back around 1980ish when I looked up and saw a jet with the space shuttle on top of it. Wonder if it's still there.
Thanks for watching and the interesting comment. I appreciate it. I don't remember seeing that.
Nice presentation . Great because you did not injected a over extended monolog and focused on the key element of topic material .
Thanks for noticing. You're absolutely right- that is what I was going for. There's no way in the world I was going to talk over dialogue, and I'm very cognizant of not wasting people's time- the video must be entertaining and have some value- so I was only going to play a relevant portion of the film.
Thanks for showing me Juanita. My mother years back, when giving our address at Famous Barr for something to be delivered would always say, "4329 Juniata, NOT Juanita." Apparently a lot of our stuff would be delivered there by mistake. I had a good friend who lived in the pink house opposite the main gate of Shaws Garden on Flora Pl. on the corner. Did not know the ruins at the lake came from Lindell Hotel. Compton Water Tower brings back memories when I was working at Incarnate Word Hospital on Grand and Lafayette. That STL U hospital used to be owned the the Missouri Pacific Railroad and operated as a hospital for its employees. Those homes on Flad were beautiful. Love the pavilions at TG Park. My father and I were walking through the park on day and saw Colonel Sanders addressing his managers at one of the pavilions up by Grand. And yes, he was dressed in his full regalia, white suit and cane and all. Thanks for the memories.
My dad does remember those hospitals. Those are interesting stories about Juniata and Colonel Sanders. Thanks for sharing.
Best video yet! Loved the movie on the old SW Bank robbery. Will have to look that one up. I remember that neighborhood well, Central Hardware and R and F Spaghetti by O'Connell's Pub. I also remember by SW Bank Placke Chevrolet that was caddycorner. That Gringo Joe's looks interesting. I need to check that out on my next trip back home. I lived off Alfred Ave. but on the other side of the park where it runs into Juniata off Morganford. I went to SW High and I think that Journey Church used to be Holy Innocents if I am correct. That Piano Bar on Arsenal has been there for many, many years. There used to be a Velvet Freeze at the nearby corner of Hampton and Arsenal. Thanks so much for posting!
That's awesome!!! I'm glad you liked it. You're exactly right about all that stuff. I read your comments to my mom and dad and they loved it. They remember all that stuff also. My mom said she thinks Ike & Tina sang at Holy Innocents when they were starting out. My dad remembers Placke and R & F Spaghetti and they know about Velvet Freeze. Very interesting.
Tower Grove park is gorgeous. As forest park etc. Thanks, again.😢😮😅😊
Sure is.
I love these walking overviews. You give a great detailed view of the little things that make every neighborhood special.
Thanks so much for the kind words. I really appreciate it. That makes it worthwhile.
Do one on the old kosciusko neighborhood….or even the patch neighborhood..unless you have and ive overlooked them.
Haven't done those yet. It looks like I've done about 28 of the 79 neighborhoods. I hope I can do them all- but that is easier said than done 😂.
I couldn't play it Tom but I'll try later. Hope all is well. I'll catch up on some of your other videos.
Thanks so much. Truly appreciated.
We lived at 3125 So. Jefferson. It was a beautiful old house. 2 story brick house. It's a parking lot now. Broke my heart to see that it was gone. I played across the street at Benton park. Thanks for the trip to memory lane. The houses were so beautiful back then.
Thanks for watching. I'm glad you found it and got some value from it.
The waterfall is beautifullllllllll😊 i love this video
Thanks so much for watching and the kind words! I really appreciate it.
The hours showing in the video I lived in 1913 Newhouse
That's awesome. Thanks for watching. I hope you found it interesting.
@organstl Yes, I do like the video, but the house I lived in didn't have fireplaces in the house at all , 1913, Newhouse in North St. Louis in Hdye Park , my mom, and I moved out of there when I was 17.
@@Andrew-t1y1w ok thanks for the info. I'll check with him to see what he meant.

That laundry place on grand used to be a schnucks a little over 20 years ago.
That is interesting and good info. Thanks for sharing. I did not remember that.
MAKE IT INTO AND ADULT TOY STORE. MANY PRIESTS WOULD BE GREAT CUSTOMERS !
AHHHH!!!!!!! What's with the fence between the pulpit and the audience??????????
Ohhh. I was trying to figure out what you meant. Now I get it. At Mount Grace Convent- I think it is a security measure is what I'm thinking.
Very informative. A map of neighborhoods would be very helpful.
Thanks for the comment. I originally wanted to try to do that but couldn't find a good way to do it.
Nice job filming Shaw and Shaw's Garden. They really do have a great day lily collection. The best one in the history of the world and the United States. Next time, check out Shaw's old museum. It's been amazingly restored. Also, really nice footage of the Garden Glow. Perhaps a subject for a full length video?
Thanks so much for watching and the comment. I really appreciate it. I will have to check out the museum again. I was in there for the Chihuly art- they had some of his pieces in there also a few months ago but I didn't explore a whole lot. I am definitely hoping to go to the Garden Glow this year! You're exactly right.
@@organstl They apparently went through great lengths in restoring it. I saw this documentary about it, if you're ever interesting in nerding about Shaw's old museum. ua-cam.com/video/8-P96J1NQg0/v-deo.htmlsi=McYbZjNv9lVLafot
Excellent coverage of the neighborhood. Stay safe 😊
Thanks so much. Hope you're doing well. Stay safe indeed.
Very informative Mr Jackson. Ive gone to mass in the church.I would have enjoyed some history on convent and school that was part of church.

Thanks so much for watching and the kind comment- I really appreciate it.
I feel compelled to comment for the sake of the algorithm for you. I like when small channels pop up in my feed. I must admit though, I probably won’t watch your whole video. Not for any good reason other than I’m not that interested right now. Maybe I’ll watch again with more focused intent. Cheers
Thanks for the comment.
Thanks so much for posting. This was an education for me. I was aware of that neighborhood but knew little about it. And certainly had never heard of Franz Park.
Thanks again for watching and the comment. Great to hear from you. Fun neighborhood- I enjoyed bringing it to you.
Thank you.😢😮😅😊
Thanks so much for watching- I appreciate you.
Hey Tom, thanks for the tour. I've lived on the other side of Dogtown [Oakland & Childress] since 1987. Believe it or not, I've never been to Columbo's. Thanks for the peek inside on St Pat's Day! Also it's amazing to me the number of small car lots and repair shops along Manchester. I enjoyed the historical tidbits you threw in. Thanks again!
That's awesome. I did a video on Clayton-Tamm neighborhood where the first 15 minutes is around the neighborhood and the last 15 minutes is the St. Patrick's Day parade. on Manchester Ave- I thought the same thing- there are a lot of car shops along there. I had just mentioned that to someone. Thanks so much for watching and the interesting comment- I really appreciate it.
Friend of mine from Minnesota just came down here on a whim so was able to hang out with her and show her around (Of course broke her in with Imo's pizza). She had gone to the arch the day before, so I took her around forest park, went through the science center, and my brain thought of the Central West End since we were so close, and a lightbulb went off in my head that she would probably appreciate this place. Last time I had stepped foot inside was for Stan Musial's viewing. Even for the non Catholics and even non religious... the artwork is breathtaking.
That is so cool. Thanks so much for the comment. I really appreciate it. That would be cool seeing someone's reaction to the pizza- it's so unique. You had some good ideas. The Basilica really is a remarkable place. That is really cool that you were able to show her. Thanks again for the story.
Thank you so much! That was wonderful! I hope I can visit! A.Steden,Cambridge On,Canada!💟🙏🏾❤️🇨🇦✝️
Thanks so much for watching and your comment. I'm so glad you found the video and I could show it to you. Really neat having someone watch from Canada.
As all communities once were, JVL used to be a bustling area... nowadays it's on its way to becoming a totally desolate wasteland like much of St. Louis. Make no mistake, the same fate that Detroit was cursed with is the same fate that awaits St. Louis. Makes me want to cry. 🥲
