Daisy Hill Freeride?
Welcome back everyone, this was my last video filmed before the collarbone incident. We went with @JohnnyThe_G and @Jailbikeco , all round it was a sick day. Go have a look around Daisy Hill and I'm sure you'll be able to find some exciting stuff. We rode Bronzewing, Bees Knees, The Pallet Jumps, The Tree Gap, Chipline, Koala, Ripley's, Glider, Gillian's, Glossy Black and Flying Cloud. All banger trails so go out and try them if you haven't already.

Where have I been?

A pretty solid accident took me out recently. I decided to smack a tree with my collarbone and ended up breaking it. Have been taking a few weeks off since even using my computer has been a struggle recently. I'm probably going to need another 4 weeks off the bike I reckon. I'll be starting again with some cruisy rides at first, nothing with any crazy impact. You best believe I'll be getting ba...
The King of Brisbane Trail Networks | Mount Cotton Returns!
Переглядів 8613 місяці тому
This week we rode the king of all Brisbane trail networks, Mount Cotton (Eastern Escarpment). It's been a hot minute since I went for a ride here and the conditions are very dry and dusty at the moment. We ended up riding Powerful Howl for warmup, Shenanigans, Westy's, Blacking Out jumpline and Metamorphic. This was an awesome day and I think I will ride here again soon. Instagram: instagram.co...

Welcome back everyone, this week we are riding Daisy Hill or the benchmark as some people call it. This was a fairly big ride as we did around 25km and 500m of elevation. We started off with Jims track, bronzewing, bees knees, mad max pallet jumps, sleepy hollow, wiry panic and finished off with flying cloud, jim finch and lace monitor. All around it was a great day and I had heaps of fun ridin...
The Most Underrated Trail System?

Welcome back to the channel everyone. This week we went out to ride Cornubia with Josh. This is one of my locals and such an underrated place to ride! Spangled Drongo has just been redone so it has massive steep berms now and a few little jumps to keep it interesting. We also rode the new West Mount Cotton Link flow trail, this has the most amazing berms I've ever ridden. Finished off with a ru...
GNARLIEST TRAIL I'VE EVER RIDDEN! STEEP AND LOOSE

Welcome back to the channel everyone. This week we are riding the gnarliest trail I've ever done! This was crazy steep and so loose, I was two wheel drifting down most of it. Started off with the same warm-up as last week then we moved onto two downhill tracks which were fairly fast and chunky. Last trail of the day was the super gnar! Instagrams: bikes.with.blake _h...

Welcome back everyone, this week we are out at a secret location to check out some trails that are new to me. This was good fun and the trails were very raw which is a good change of pace. We were joined by Josh and Chris AKA The Bundy Bandit from the Thredbo trip. Started off with some faster trails then we moved on to some techier stuff. Apparently there is stuff even gnarlier though so I'm k...

Welcome back to the channel everyone. This week we are back out riding Nerang National Park with @FlowmentumMTB . We started off cruisy with a bit of an adventure through the back trails, this was nice because I've never really done them except for explosions and Neverending Story. We then rode some super steep and gnarly tech which was epic. We finished off with Baileys, Top Drop, the new flow...
The Roughest Trails In SEQ? | Castle Hill Blackstone Reserve MTB | Bike Update

Welcome back to the channel everyone! This week we are back out at Castle Hill. These trails are short and sweet, they may not be the longest but they are jam packed full of awesomeness. They are some of the roughest tracks you'll see in SEQ which makes it good for something different. Don't see much fast and rough stuff around our area, most the rough stuff is slow and techy. We did a whole bu...

Welcome back to the channel everyone! This week we are out at Hiddenvale Adventure Park (HVAP for short) to check out some new trails. They have recently built an epic jumpline out there that runs straight into a gnarly downhill track. The jumpline is insanely fast and we measured the biggest jump out to 11.5 metres. Theres a mixture of big and small jumps and they are all tabletops so its a gr...

Welcome back to the channel everyone, this week we are checking out the work that's gone in at Mount Cotton. Dan from @ShreddingMTB came up from the Gold Coast to ride with us. Overall it was a great morning and the work is awesome, great to see my local trails running nice again. Some people may not agree with the Westys tight corner but it will be back to its old self in due time. Instagrams:...

This week we are out at daisy hill for the first time in a hot minute. Went for a Sunday ride with my mate Lachy and not everything went to plan. This week on the channel we're back out at one of my locals to checkout a reworked trail. West Mount Cotton link at Cornubia is now one of the best flow trails in the local area! So glad to have another mint trail near home. We also did some of the cornubia classics, wallum froglet and resurrection. This place never disappoints so if you haven't been already, I highly recommend it. Instagrams: ...

This week we're back out at Uki bike park with a huge crew. I came out to get redemption on the trail called blackjack but unfortunately only ended up getting in a sighting run. We did quite a few runs this day and it was a pretty epic time. Flow daisy and Flocka pigeons were my 2 favourites for the day but we did a few other trails including teal for real, puggle club, green tree frog and 4 ro...

Tuggeranong Pines (Thredbo Trip Day One)
That first trail looks really well made!
It's been built up by locals over time so it's pretty sick 🤙 Got some good flow to it
first time riding there i took a berm way too fast and went over the edge 😭 definitely gonna head back out there again though its one of my favourite spots near me
Damn haha, would've been a long fall. Yeah the dirt out there is fantastic for flowy stuff 🤙
Just noticed that you have the same bike as me
Hell yeah! You loving it? I reckon it's the perfect bike for SEQ 👌
@@BikesWithBlakeYeah I’m finding it’s surprisingly good for climbing along with downhill, had a few problems with the axis gearing but other than that I’m loving it
Love the content. Great way to preview trails in SEQ. Planning on going to Hidden Vale in the upcoming days without a shuttle and wanted to see if there’s anything I should know about the trail network.
Come prepared. Bring water, electrolytes and some carbohydrates to keep you going because it's a big network. Download trail forks so you can always have a good map, although there is maps at the main junctions 🤙
Fast mate 💪🏾
Damn dude... I hope you're back or close to being back on your wheels !
Was going to ride on the weekend just gone but everywhere was a mud pit due to all the rain. Heading out camping this weekend then I'll be back into the swing of things 🤙 Super excited for things to go back to normal
@BikesWithBlake Yeah, I heard Mt. Cotton got 129mm. A car skidded off road and took out my letterbox, so MTB conditions must have been pretty shite 😐 Great that your ready though ! Enjoy the camping trip man 👌
@MTB_MICK Cheers legend, all I can really do is cruisy trails at the minute so mt cotton would've been out of the picture anyways. All the flat trails would be so cooked 🤣
That new pallet jump was set up with the take off ramp fixed to the ground, but the landing ramp set up to be moved so that you can change the gap to suit what you want. We have had it out to 4 metres, but normally move it back to about 2.5 metres when we leave so as not to catch out other riders with it being different. Love watching your videos and hope you are mending well 👍
Yeah we were considering moving it but we couldn't be stuffed 🤣 Nice jump tho, it's built pretty well 👌 Cheers for the kind works legend!
@@BikesWithBlake It only takes about 30 seconds to move with a friend if you're out that way again. 🙂
Always fun at Daisy
The soil there is epic! Can build some nice berms with the clay there, grip for days
This was a treat. Daisy is just a nice mix to be as fun as you make it. Thanks for sharing mate.
Cheers legend! Some good spots in Daisy if you go looking 👀. Super excited to get back on the bike when my body allows 👌
thats me!
Nah mate, all CGI. You were never there 🤣
@ 😂😂😂
Offft dude! Rest up hey! Really surprised you didn't get surgery to tie it all together.
Hospital and doctor both didn't recommend surgery so I'm not gonna argue against medical professionals haha. 5 grand for the surgery thru private or like 9 weeks wait time thru public so I'll probably be healed by then anyways. Bloody keen to get back on the bike I'll tell ya that much 🤣
So glad you are healing well. Totally respect where you are coming from with injury and health. A mountain bike injury has an impact on you and those around you not mention financial. I broke my right ankle at Nerang in 2019 and it does make you risk manage going forward. I was fortunate enough to be able to still work all be it with a knee scooter to get around. Take it easy coming back and there is nothing wrong with taking a B line. Looking forward to seeing back on the bike and its always Daisy Hill ride to ease back in
Cheers! Glad you're all healed up from the broken ankle, that's lucky you could still work haha
Would love to see your thoughts and review of the spectral mullet cf8
The guy just fell off 🤣
Yessir, I'll get onto it 🫡
Hey mate, feeling your pain bro, I had a crash that took me out of work for 7 weeks and no ride for 3 months. If you find good insurance let me know, I'm self funded super though which I don't think helps. Hopefully speedy recovery bro!!
Damn mate, yeah it's sucks but it's all a part of riding. Cheers for the kind wishes, I'll update in a video if I find some income insurance haha
@BikesWithBlake sweet hopefully get to hit some trails with you one day!..👊
@@TheReidy70 I'm always keen to meet and ride with new people. Hit me up on Instagram and we'll go from there. @bikes.with.blake
Yeah that was sick!!!
Cheers mate 🤙
3 weeks n still no vid from Blake
I broke my collarbone haha, just taking a bit of a break whilst I'm recovering
Nice one Blake 👍💪
Cheers Brad, was nice meeting you! Let's catch up for another ride soon legend 🤙
@@BikesWithBlake Likewise mate for sure!
Cool video! Thanks. Neighbors would not mind if I park my car at the end of Kimberly drive, just near the entrance would they?
Yeah that's all sweet. There's a trailhead there, not much parking tho. Have fun, great trail system 👌
and a shout out to the LCTA volunteers that do improvements and remediation days up in there - great bunch of peeps
Major shoutout to the trailcare blokes 👌 Absolute legends for keeping that place running mint. Mind you they handle weather pretty well since most of it is hand cut single-track 🤙
sssshhhhh. don't tell everyone. we like it under the radar
I think it gets overshadowed by Mount Cotton tbh haha. I reckon it's mostly the locals that ride Cornubia, cause most people driving that far will just go cotton. Good tho cause it means cornubia is always pretty quiet 👌
@@BikesWithBlake true story - i ride there because i can ride to it, and my son keeps 'borrowing' my ute so getting to mt cotton is to many hills away. and i'm a noob so when i stack at cornubia there's less chance of anyone seenig my ineptitude. Cool vid mate - keep up the good work 🤘
Cheers legend! Enjoy the riding 👌
Somewhere, I have never been. I will check it out. Thanks for sharing. The 800 bars are pretty good. Great stability would recommend
Get yourself out there and check it out. Some awesome old school, hand cut single track that you don't see too much of anymore unfortunately. As for the 800 bars, I honestly can't tell too much of a difference in stability. Just noticed myself nearly clipping trees a lot more often. I'll give them a go for a few more weeks to see if I can get used to them, if not I'll end up cutting them down
Wallum froglet needs it too.
I enjoy Wallem as is, a couple more jumps here and there would be nice. If the corners were built up a bit more that would be epic but I really like the hand cut feel of that trail. It would be hard to find a balance between natural and flowy I reckon but if they could achieve it that would be mint 👌
my local, seems the council and the LCTA (awesome bunch of volunteers that maintain and improve the trails) are continually making these tracks better. Spangled Drongo has recently been improved too. Great trails all round. Interested to hear if people prefer doing the loop clockwise or anticlock. Cheers for the effort you put into this 🤘
I'll always prefer clockwise, sets you up nicely to go down Wallem Froglet. Actually got a new Cornubia video coming out on Friday showcasing just that! Keep your eyes peeled 👀
@@BikesWithBlake i'll defo keep an eye out
just so everyone knows, this is Thredbo! shhh tho
Nah it's at whistler bro, IYKYK
Careful with this place. They have been sending out fines for riding after getting number plates on trail cameras.
Yep, I know. Just gotta park in the right spots 😉 So lame tho, fun police fining the people for having fun 🥴 What a world we live in!
BRO why are you showing the castle hill pirates!
No Derby pirstes for you then.
It's clearly Daisy Hill
Daymn Toowoomba is looking mint!
Hahaha
@@Yournan101 you disgust me
Enjoyable as always mate.Sprint down 3 hills was awesome.
Cheers mate, glad you enjoyed 👌
Nice one Blake!
Thanks legend! Appreciate it heaos
That was a great watch Blakey, loved it…. Was a great lil ride and some sweet trails mate, thanks for pushing me to get out for one last ride👊👊
Any time Craig! Good to see ya one last time. Wishing a speedy recovery 🤘
Great video, Blake. I love some Nerang so familiar ❤ haven't been on the new flow trail yet .
Thanks Kylie, Nerang is great for something different 🤘 The new flow trail is quite fast, wish there was a few more jumps tho haha
Thanks for your videos, really helping me and my dad find good riding spots in SEQ! 👌👌
Legend! Cheers for watching. Glad I am inspiring people to get out riding and check out new spots. That's what it's all about 👌
Nice vid man 👌 Cheers for asking if I was good at around 2:30 ... 👍😆🥵
Hahaha cheers mate, I thought that was pretty funny 😂. Shame I didn't get to meet you properly, could've finished the ride off with us 🤙
@@BikesWithBlake Yeah man, riding solo is fun, but always keen to ride with others. I must have been out of breath there... The thumbs up pic is funny az , and let's people know I wasn't flipping the bird. Hard to tell with the black jersey and gloves 😄
You're not wrong. That trail needs some rain, apparently heaps coming next week !
Excited, except I probably won't be back for a while 😂 will have to time it better next time
A nice rocky chunky rundown of the trails. Top spot for trying to push harder, ride a bit better after each run.
@@petergleeson7783 Cheers mate. Always good to try and improve, it's one of my favourite parts of riding 👌
Hey Blake, I just bought the same canyon spectral mullet as you and I’m absolutely loving it, just curious to know if your running frame protection or not?
Nice mate, congrats on the new bike 🤘 They run extremely well for SEQ trails. I'm running a full frame protection from ridewrap, was a huge pain to install tho 😂 Should try out the Michelin wild enduro tyres to make the bike feel even better 🔥
@@BikesWithBlake ok thanks Blake, good to know
Fine HVAP adventure. Did anyone try the horizontal tree stump jump on Treedom.
Nah we were pretty wrecked by that point haha. Didn't realise it was coming up until we passed it, then couldn't be stuffed turning around and getting a run-up. Maybe next time if I've got a bit more energy 😂
Hey Blake, shall be good to see someone jump it. Treedom is strange; nice fun green trail though the variety of gap jumps on the way down seem at another skill level.
I am so glad I went when I did, my legs were so cooked I wouldn’t have made it out haha
Oh true, when did you go? Was it all day shuttles?
Big vibes. Place looks like it’s running so sick. Poor Bundy Bandit other than that looks like you all had a killer day and the new trails look sick.
Yeah dude place is running amazing, glad that they are finally deciding to build some more serious trails out there for the gravity riders 👌 Chris was ok, very scraped up but no broken bones or frames 😂 The downhill is seriously steep and the jump trail is hectic, mach Jesus speed required to clear the 40 footer
Great video, Blake. You are so nailing it. It's so important to have really good commentary to keep us interested and coming back for more ❤! There's no better feeling than getting back on your bike after illness or injury glad your back at it
Cheers Kylie, it's bit of a longer video which is different for me. Glad you enjoyed still, I might have to do some more long videos in the future 👌 Keep your eyes peeled for Castle Hill next week with some new bling on the bike 👀
Where is the trailhead?
Take a look in the description of the video 🤙
'you Kurt Angled it' to good :'D hahaha
Hahaha the good old angle slam
That run down p-howl was sweet.😘
So good now that you can clean the step up 🤙
Looks like a B line has formed on the tight left turn on Westy’s, is it still like that?
The trail has been reworked by contractors recently. Update video coming out tomorrow 👀
dislocated finger and broken knuckles and 6 months rehab from a tree at daisy hill. Those trees jump out of nowhere. Same thing I've plenty of gnarly trails around oz and its feckn daisy that bites me. lol I think we just get complacent.
Ouch, hope you're ok 🤙
An oldie but a goodie ! Your motoring in this one! Such good trails
I'm going back soon 👀 Keep your eyes peeled 🤙
Ripped my derailer off at Glossy black.Walk of shame burns bro😢
Hahaha, daisy hill of all places. I swear it's cursed 🤣
Don't you hate when that happens ! What tyres do you have on? I couldn't quite see in your video. I have noticed your rear slides out a far bit on you. I have Maxis Tyres, grip for days, and I have never had a flat
That was on purpose, I knew I was gonna hit the tree so I made the split second decision to slide sideways into it instead of headfirst 🤣 I run Michelin wild enduros, used to run Maxxis but I'd never go back to them now that I've tried the Michelin's. The side knobbies are way sturdier, give them a go sometime and you won't be disappointed 🤘
@BikesWithBlake I'll keep a lookout for that tree .Should make a swell tourist trap🤠
Sweet edit Blake, riding soo smooth my bro.
Cheers Craig, except for that one jump where I landed nose asf 🤣
@@BikesWithBlake haha yeah not every jump can be text book perfect.
Love this type of riding. Just flowing with the trail 💨
I love all trails but steep tech has to be my favourite 👌 Flow is still great though
Man got to get out there and try that new trail
It's pretty sick dude, the berms are massive. Really needs some rain first to bed in properly though 👌 Should give resurrection a go while you're there if you haven't done it already
@@BikesWithBlake I will mate 🤙🏼
Sick video my bro and sick riding!! Trail looks dope 🤘🏽need to get out there ey. PS The Flying Fish beat ya to it haha had some footage up a lil while ago of it 😂 he was mad sneaky with it tho haha.
Cheers my g, appreciate it heaps. I saw fishos video on insta, it's what gave me inspiration to come check it out. Notice how I said first video on UA-cam 😛 Wouldn't say it was that sneaky as it had #cornubia in the post 🤣
