Less is more ? Hey chums this represents a sad upbringing sad in retrospect, but in my case sad but not traumatic. But stuff me I could do without warnings about child safety. I personally don't want to exploit anyone I feel more exploited for my art than my past and that's not a lot of understanding chums

This is part of an on going project for me. First four live takes using a Kaossilator. Blooming fun for and old guitarist Spud
Thank you, I'll have a go. How did the teeth go?
Would you believe it as I was waiting for a taxi to take me to the station they rang to say the hygienist had rung in sick
I happened by your channel today, and glad I did. When I was still in school, I _loved_ printing. I did tons of lino- and screen prints for local bands' merchandise - shirts, album art, stickers, etc. - and a lot of my own art. You're making me nostalgic for cutting lino! At any rate, I hope your appointment goes alright. Too bad we don't get new teeth around mid-life when we really need them, heh! Love the card concept. Subscribed!
@bveracka hi Rand, glad you popped by, I have only recently got back into lino. I spent my working life first on a drawingboard and then on a computer. I get great pleasure from the actual cutting, with some good music you can sort of dissappear into it. Really you don't need much to start and lino has a habit of producing a charm of it own. I hope if you get back into it you will let me know Richard
*I LIKE YOUR SNAIL* on the shed window...!!!
@piccalillipit9211 The snails have been known to eat my prints when hung up to dry, which proves the ink is non toxic at least
@@spudcustardx1 HAHAHHAHAAHA - thats so funny - you should make a print of a snail eating a print
Good luck with the teeth Richard. Lovely to see your work again.
@Linda-p3d1g thanks Linda, I'm dental phobic, plus I have a pacemaker, so that frightens normal dentists nearly as much as they frightens me, hence the London hospital
I would,ve titled it Dorset , Durle Door in my rear view mirror🤣🤣🤣
@@michaellong9526 I have been working on a two colour christmas card and just realised I cut the second colour backwards. You would think I would learn
Hello Richard I’ve just found your channel and watched this video, I think the prints you shared are fantastic, I’m sure you could get the “ring a roses” layer to work with the right colour palette. I’ve been working as a full time printmaker for the last 4 years from my narrowboat home so I’m used to a lack of space, I think a shed would feel like a full size studio to me 😄 Look forward to seeing more of your videos keep up the good work Ant
@Artinthecorridor Hi Ant, thanks for the comments, I think you are right if I changed the background tone and rethought the forgound, maybe recut it bigger. You know how it is the rush to get on with the next one. For all my lack of space I love the shed. Keep up your printing Richard
I think the hopscotch one is BRILLIANT - I really think that works
@piccalillipit9211 thank you, that means a lot, I wasn't sure it worked
@@spudcustardx1 I really think it worked
Nice work, your cutting skill definitely deserved some new tools and look at the great results! Thanks for sharing your work and stories. The quoit is a top class print, you do have the printing gene, Even though it didn't work out the background you did for the dancing girls also looked impressive to me. Thanks again.
@earl9035 the thanks are mine for taking the time to watch and comment. Regards richard
I guess you use carbon paper for transferring your design to the lino?
@neiljackman2511 hi Neil, you are right about the carbon paper, I just forgot the name of it. it stays on much better than scribbling on the back with a pencil. They still sell it in Smiths, apart from a few artist who on earth uses it?
Always enjoy watching what you're up to Richard, and I love your print too.
@Linda-p3d1g thank you Linda you make it worthwhile
Good to see you again Richard and thank you for sharing your work. Your shed looks dead interesting - any chance or a quick tour around all your bits and bobs? I love a good rummage.
@Linda-p3d1g Hi Linda, I kind of hate to overplay my hand but the shed is far more interesting than me. I will attempt to do a colour supliment edition. Spoiler Allert, one of the windows came from Lawrence Luhwelin Bowins' old house
I found leaves are were a good starting point for simple shapes to practice cutting skills and then progressed to flowers. I tried a few bird prints but most looked like knackered fat pigeons regardless of what sort of bird it was supposed to be. I used inspiration from other artists at my linocut class - I did a reduction print inspired by Hokusai's Great Wave which was quite successful and a multi-block print of The Song of the Lark by Jules Breton which I was less happy with.
@neiljackman2511 can I have thr knackered fat pidgeons back they are from my bird table. Personally I find it intimidating to look at others work and that goes for all creative work. It's taken me a long time to find my own style. I guess because I was a commercial artist that I could sort of create whatever style the customer wanted, so I never had one of my own. Picasso was pretty good at fat pigeons even if he called them doves Richard
whatever you're doing, you're doing it right. your videos were in the first row of my suggested feed. The algorithm gods smile upon you :) Keep it up!
@nmoore1988 thanks, I guess someone has to do it just for fun
as a guy who has been doing it for very many years, i reccomend highly a kevlar glove for the left hand, like fish slicers use, has saved me from several bad cuts over the years.
also, warm it up under a light bulb or such, cold lino is harder to cut and knife tends to slip more
@donsurlylyte hi you are right about cold hard lino. I'm an old graphic designer from the days of using a scalpel all the time, I may well have forgotten starting out. Thanks for reminding me
Hi Richard, I did an introduction to linocut course at my local craft centre last year. For the first lesson they started us off on thin kiddy craft foam board that you could make indentations in using a ballpoint pen, then inking up and printing. Finding a course or workshop might is a good way to get into linocut because it means you don't have to buy a whole load of equipment. I was gifted an Essdee Lino Cutting and Printing Kit for Christmas and am gradually getting more equipment. I will soon need to get a shed like yours. 🙂 Loving your videos.
@neiljackman2511 hi Neil, thanks for the encouragement, I'm very new to this and hope to improve. I wish you fun and success with your lino. It would be great to show some prints from what I hope might become a group of enthusiasts Regards richard
Nice work. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work and finding out more about your shed.
Lovely to watch you doing this Richard. I'd like to see more if you have time. Your work cupboard looks fascinating. x
@Linda-p3d1g hi Linda thanks for the encouragement, making the video is sort of an extension of the creative challenge. I do intend to do more, I'm rather surprised to have got a comment Thanks richard
Hi I'm Richard I'm 73, I'm a tad late to creating tube content (cheap phone, built in Mike, free editing software) So bare with me, you never know I might get better at them
This is my first video so I'm still learning, I have been astonished how many views it had, considering it has no real content. Anyway I'm going to make some more lino from the shed videos starting from scratch. It's going to be low tech, low cost, irreverent, fun and knowing me unprofessional and likely to wonder off point.
not so bad
world shut your mouth, shut your mouth, its not important
You know it means a lot if someone gets a creative moment that you pushed, UA-cam is full of kind people, thanks chums
So beautiful
thanks biki. you will never know how much that means
Thanks Biki, I'm old and irrelevant, and I did mean this, so thank you so much for posting
Creating music like this so magical never makes you old thank u from my heart
it is sad but true
we are not always connected to our time, sometimes to early sometimes too late
please don't like this
good music
i like the voice!..it adds a feeling
+mary cigarettes the trouble with old is the stuff that goes with it, since this I have hade a triple heart bypass and a couple of years latter a pacemaker. One Last Go sound more prophetic now, by the way your comments about Bowie, God knows I'm good, Letter to Hermione, I guess its what I wanted to go back to. My heart probs went in parallel with Bowie, lost my creativity too, but its ok im still looking, Creativity is a hard task master but what the fuck else is time for. I think it was Bowie who sais the worst joke god can play is to male you an artist but not a very good one, I bet he nicked it
the thing is not to fall into the trap of trying to do what we did before...we all get old and our wheels get buckled...some try to do what they've always done in the face of it all..the trick is to adapt and let the new limitations direct you into something that you can do now..and let whatever happened inform it...i can't/won't do what i did thirty years ago, even though a part of me sometimes wants to. xxx
+mary cigarettes the hunt is always for the new you (or me), personally I'm crap at getting old, I'm an old 1960's art student married to an old 1960's art student. We might not be relevant, but we did begat a new generation of creative, I guess its a thirst thing xx
you definitely did...thirst comes and goes i find...and then it comes back again...you ARE relevant, sugar tits.....till the day you and then some xxx
As your art shows, you are a really nice person and I thank you for your encouragement. Mr Spud Custard
i like it...the music and video have a chemistry.
this was my childhood, its not somewhere I want to go back to
In no way do I want to pursue this, its just time and my recollection of it. the music is the best I can do (all I can do)
Bowie tribute, I didn't know it at the time
I know its a tad odd, but it just might be the best I can do
Might just be the best bit of music I created
Ok I stole the video but the music is mine love spud
I do know how small this looks, but its not. Art is a hard place, no matter
one day you will all think about one last go Mr Spud
I'm just a guy in a shed, what else would you rather I did? I know its thin ice but whatever its better than doing nothing Love Mr Spud Custard
I hear'd someone might like to work with me, I'm up for that, I should mention that I'm only motovated by creativity, the challenge and the sand in the shell
It's got me by the balls, I created it, it was so hard to chunk it into those gaps in the beat. Anyway thanks for listening Spud Custard
Clearing my late dads house, took me back to this
Go listen to marycigarettes, This is really interesting, you’re not find this by accident, I love his poetry and his voice. See my link on face book Mr Spud
that kaos thing is great and adds a really add tension to the pictures
one or two people liked this, good enough for me spud
