      Fluid film. It's an undercoating for vehicles, typically. You can get a spray can at an auto parts store.

    • @207tips
      @207tips Рік тому

      Fluid Film is a rust protection barrier product. It sprays on sort of like WD-40, but lasts longer. It is lanolin based and I believe it was originally developed for the navy. I spray it on any surface where I expect corrosion. I use it on the underside of a lawn mower annually. You can get it at Napa or online.

    Thank you for very much for this comparison video. I have the old lawn mower (LM) acquired back in 2019 and after just 8 months of ownership the motor failed. I got in touch with Dewalt service center store and they replaced it with a new one (shipped to my home). The tech guy in the store also advised me to avoid having the blade hitting big rocks, concrete to avoid damage to motor. In your video, I noticed (hearing) that the old LM is noisier and sounds like running on higher rev. I also invested in flexvolt batteries with higher capacity so I could use the LM longer and at the same time use the flexvolt batteries with other tools (present and future purchase) that requires 60V. Look like the new LM is has been improved a lot. I will consider this one in the future and still I am waiting if Dewalt will make a Snow blower... must be still on the drawing board.

    I have an oil boiler with on-demand coil. Over the summer I added an electric hot water heater and the input to this hot water heater is the output from the coil. Now that it is cold and I am using the boiler for heat, I use the coil again. I installed valves at the electric hot water heater to stop water going into the heater. I shut off my boiler during warmer months and have no leaks. I see you stopped cold water from going into the coil but what happened to the water coming out of the coil?

    • @207tips
      @207tips Рік тому

      It just sits there. The valve just stops it from circulating.

    • @geyser3445
      @geyser3445 Рік тому

      @@207tips So, you still have water in the coil? And, the valve stops the water from coming out? Did you tap into the cold water supply somewhere else for the electric hot water heater you added?

    • @207tips
      @207tips Рік тому

      @@geyser3445 Yes, that’s correct. If I open the valve, I can pull hot water from the coil again, if I ever wanted to. For the HWH, I tapped into the cold and hot water in a totally different area.

      @@207tips this is an excellent video - very helpful! I am about to install the same hybrid hot water heater, but on a steam oil boiler, and I wonder whether I can install a valve on the pipe exiting the furnace’s heater coil, and shit that off instead of installing a valve to turn if the water into the hot water coil. People seem to warn against it, but I don’t see why - how would that be different (from the oil-burning furnace) than no one using any hot water in the house? Any thoughts would be very welcome!

    I just recently installed my hot water same way. I was wondering if you have any concerns about bacteria growth in the water in the oil boiler’s coil? I’m thinking that adding 2 sets of valves on each side of the boiler. One inline valve on each side to disconnect it from the system and a tee’d valve to purge the water from coil using an air compressor Also, thanks for a great video.

    • @207tips
      @207tips 2 роки тому

      Thanks. I’m not too concerned about bacteria because the low setting is still over 120 and it’s not like it stays there, as it would with an electric hwh. It cycles up to the high setting, which is around 180.

    What's your long-term opinion of the hybrid water heater's performance? New York is offering an instant $1K rebate on these and I'm heavily leaning towards bypassing my oil boiler, with one of these. Thanks so much for the thoughtful video!

      Thanks. After more than two years, I am very happy with this unit. I should point out though, that I have a near perfect situation. I placed this unit in the same room as a boiler and a dryer, so there’s lots of excess heat around. Just be sure to keep the filter clean. Also, don’t forget to check the fed rebate too when you file your taxes.

      Venting is required when the room where the hybrid hot water heater is placed isn’t large enough (for example, a closet). The manual will get into the specifics.

    Great video and just what I was looking for!!! I've been debating this same type of install and haven't been able to find anything on it till I found yours. Our situation is slightly different as we have an indirect hot water heater connected on a zone to the oil boiler. I'm planning first on testing what happens when I shut the boiler down to see if any leaks occur, but even if it does, I'll likely be turning on the boiler during the summer months once a week or so to prevent any valve sticking issues down the road. In your mind, would you think our install would be easier or about the same as your case scenario? The one thing I'm not sure about is what to do with our aquastat in our situation. Our indirect heater is I'm guessing over 30 years old, so I'm worried it's beyond it's life expectancy.

    • @207tips
      @207tips 2 роки тому

    Hey, i just got a hybrid unit installed. Is it best to bypass the boiler and just use the hybrid to heat the house and hot water. or is there a way to have the hybrid be primary and the oil system as a back up.

    • @207tips
      @207tips 2 роки тому

      No, you still need your boiler to heat the house. The hybrid hot water heater only allows you to bypass the hot water coil in your boiler. From a hot water standpoint only, if you bypassed the coil in the boiler with a valve like I show in the video, then you can still use that as backup hot water when necessary.

    Love your review...you sound like you might be from the Boston area. I'm from Long Island. I wish I knew about the new model! I bought the 220 this spring and while I love the way it performs, the batteries run out of juice so quickly and it takes so long for them to charge I can't mow my front and back lawn on the same day. (And they're pretty small suburban lawns.) I would have loved the larger batteries and longer run time.

      Thanks. You could remove the coil I guess. I just used the valve because it was the easiest way to keep the hot water from cycling through the boiler and it allows me to easily switch back to it if the hot water heater ever needs to be offline. I haven’t regretted anything about this project so far.

    Just bought the new one. I think the reason it sounds lower in tone is because it has some sort of load sense. I've noticed when it gets to some heavy or dense grass it automatically speeds up. I guess this extends battery life. The reason I chose Dewalt over the others is due to the batteries that can be used in so many other tools. The mower is only going to be used for an hour a week at the most in the summer. All the rest of the time those batteries can be used to power an impact driver, circular saw or even a chain saw and a pair of 20V 10 AH batteries with chargers are worth close to the price you pay for the whole mower kit. Genius marketing because now I am vested in the entire Dewalt cordless power tool system.

    Great review. I really needed to see the parts included since I'm buying a 1 time used 233U and wanted to make sure I get all the parts included. I also wanted to add that I'm starting to shy away from the 60v tools. Mainly because of the new line of 20v tools Dewalt started making and because the 60v batteries are ⅓ of their amp rating when used in the 60v tools. I can get much more out of my flexvolt batteries especially using then on the 20v platform. The new flexvolt 20v line are very powerful and compare well to the 60v line, without eating up the flexvolt batteries.

    • @207tips
      @207tips 3 роки тому

      I would buy that. That’s a great deal. They are different machines with minor things that I like on one verses the other, but Gen2 has much better battery life and is generally much quieter, so I wouldn’t hesitate to upgrade. Gen1 vacuums better because it always runs on high, but depending on conditions, battery life can be half of Gen2’s. I like not having the side chute on Gen1 for trimming, but the back discharge plugs up easier. I like the battery gauge on Gen1 better, but you learn how far any battery gets on your lawn anyway, so not a big deal. Good luck and thanks for watching.
