Sporen hiervan zouden nog teruggevonden kunnen worden in bepaalde toponiemen zoals het Zuid-Oost-Vlaamse Bevere, Eine, Mater en Melden. Het taalgebied van het Belgisch wordt gesitueerd tussen de Kwinte en de Authie in het zuidwesten, de Wezer en de Aller in het oosten, en de Ardennen en het Duitse Middelgebergte in het zuidoosten. Archeologisch is er een band voorgesteld met de Hilversumcultuur[1]. Deze voor-Keltische cultuur werd rond 500 vC. vanuit het zuiden in de Keltische La Tène-cultuur en vanuit het noordoosten door Germaanse volkeren geassimileerd. Sporen van de oude taal zouden bij de Keltische Belgae bewaard gebleven zijn.

I love seeing how stories transform as the travel. I first came across this one in a collection of Child ballads which would be late 19th century. I did a bit of research and magpied details from different and older versions to make the story I tell. It ended up absorbing some Irish faerie lore too, because those are were a lot of the other stories I tell come from.

This is my favourite version tbh, find Lady Isabelle too outstretched and wishy washy, not like most Irish child tales surprisingly.
