The drivetrain in these cars is exceptionally robust and capable of handling a lot more power. It was shared with the US market Impulse RS AWD Turbo which was sold 1990-1992 in barely more than adequate homologation numbers for rally. With 160HP and 140lb-ft available through a 43/57% viscous clutch center differential into a viscous clutch limited slip differential at the rear, the AWD handling of these cars spanks the monkey on all surfaces. With more robust rods, crank, and forged pistons stock in the 1.6L of the turbo variants, It is not a tall ask to double engine power with mostly just intake, exhaust, and fuel mods. (Don't try to do that without touching the internals of any 'Geo' branded version though.) I would absolutely have opened my wallet at the $4600 this sold for.
