    I noticed you had gloves on the table. Do you normally wear gloves? I need to find a good pair of gloves to wear when I’m scoring and working with glass. I scored a piece of glass and it flipped up in the air and flew into my knuckle with force. Not only did it slice into my knuckle, but it cut off my skin. I was able to save the skin by flipping it back over. Long story short the emergency room doctor did not do an ultrasound and glued the cut together and put a mesh on it. The gluing and meshing of my knuckle was the wrong thing to do. Four months later I was still in severe pain and could not completely close my finger to a fist. I had to have finger surgery because there was a piece of glass embedded in my tendon. I have been cut and had shards in my fingers and hands many times. But after this incident, I am a little afraid, not to wear gloves. Even though it was a freak accident. The hand surgeon said I got very lucky that it did through my tendon.

      They are a heavy-duty zipper bag. I usually save them when I order something that uses them for packaging. There are places like Uline, or you can try to Google heavy-duty zipper bags. You can also double or tripple up freezer bags. They are somewhat strong. The glass cuts up the bags quickly so you need to have a few on hand. Thanks for watching and liking my videos. I greatly appreciate it.

    I’m new to this. Is a microwave kiln any good? Can you put glass on tin in the kiln?where do you get fiber paper? How long does fiber appear LAST?

    • @cobaltglasscustomworks6481
      @cobaltglasscustomworks6481 9 місяців тому

      Hi, I have never tried a microwave kiln. I know they are quite small and used mainly for jewelry. No, you can not use tin, Stainless steel is recommed for slumping molds. Kiln paper is available at a stained glass/fusing supply store. Fiber paper now usually lasts 1 firing. Depending on what you are firing, you May get a couple of uses as long as it's in good shape and not disturbed. Always wear a mask and goggles when working with kiln paper that has been fired. Surgical type gloves are good as well to wear. Safety first. Always do your research, hope that helps.

    Would you please consider doing a full-on comparison of Papyros versus Bullseye Thin Fire shelf papers, to include cost comparisons, feel, results of comparable projects fired on each paper, and number of uses you can expect to get out of each paper? In other words, what are the pros and cons of working with each brand of shelf paper? For example, I've had BE Thin Fire curl up on the edges when I'm fusing lightweight items like dots, which potentially rolls them over onto other dots, resulting in fused blobs, and I've had Papyros leave residue on the backs of darker colored dot at times; Thin Fire results in less texture being left on the backs of pieces, while Papyros leaves a bit more texture, but can people really tell the difference? To be honest, I thought that's where this video was. going when I saw the three pieces of shelf paper lined up, and it was labeled a comparison. While this video was nicely done, I think your followers might might appreciate your findings after some side-by-side testing. Just an idea to expand upon your ideas here, since I've enjoyed your other videos .
