They did this scene in so many different games during those times.

There is a break button that keeps you locked on position so you won't be having any issues with the strafe, so the issue you mention when there is a ground is not really an issue. It also makes the game 5 times easier to control. The camera enemy lock/scan on and position lock are equally important. It's nuts that most of the videos I see barely use the position lock.

The controls are horrible, which is such a shame. It's the we'll use the stylus to show off the hardware when it's pretty damn unnecessary imo a common story for the DS, thankfully there are plenty of games that nail it. DS collectors and Big Ghostvmbusters fans only. Poor game imo.

I tolerated that game until the Venom fight just because a lot of people say it's incredible and one of the best Spider-Man games ever. But I think this game is shit, and tried to find on the internet if some people share the same opinion as me. Found your video and agree with everything you said.

Beginning and ending of this review was needlessly inflamatory but you did make some fair points during the actual review portion. Web of Shadow's understanding of the term "mission design" is pretty laughable 70% of the time. This version of Peter is boundlessly annoying and cringe. No clue how Black Cat is so down bad for him. And the webstrike, while being a very cool mechanic, is extremely overbearing in a way where all combat could technically be handled by just spamming it endlessly, and if the enemy flashes blue then just jump out and try again as you said. (Also the constant slow-mo on the webstrike needlessly drags the pace of the game down. I think if it was removed after you got done with the tutorial it would probably make things more smooth) But that said, you can also beat DMC by just dodging and spamming Stinger, and that's lame as shit so I don't, and with Web of Shadows I guess it's the same for me cuz there's definitely a couple of fun abiluties to chain together and mess around with. And I'd say the game deserves praise for that. About the webswinging... uhhh... Not really sure why you think it's bad since you didn't exactly ellaborate on it, but I think you're wrong and Spider-Man 2 and WoS still have traversal systems which outshine the one in Insomniac's Spidey games in several regards. WoS' poleswinging is cool as fuck, the walljump is fun to use, the zip you can do during a wallrun, to send yourself sliding upwards or horizontally off the side of a building is crazy sick, and the biiiig juicy swings you can get in this game feel really good. Being able to carry momentum through the air with attacks is sorta cool, but it's a little too OP and doesn't look good depending on the move so idk whether I'd mark it as a positive, but it's there. In any case there's definitely enough cool shit about the traversal that calling it bad feels unwarranted. Lastly I personally don't mind the regenerating health, but I can definitely understand why that is a design decision you strongly disagree with, especially since it can lead to you basically being encouraged to just.. in the middle of a bossfight fuck off and swing in circles until you're fully healed. One thing that is cool is that red has faster regen, while the black suit has worse health regen, with the tradeoff of restoring health upon hitting enemies. So while it doesn't remove the "run away and hide" crutch, there is at least the option to heal back up via going in on the enemies
