I was hoping to find it nice and dry but it looks like a seal kit after all.

Cool old bus I almost traded for, but when I went to get it, found out that the guy had damaged it by hitting his car port with it.

1970 MCI-7 bus converted for Ray Kroc of McDonald's by Custom Coach. Sorry about the super zoom style, didn't know we were going to youtube it.

I'm buying one today, was converted a long time ago, but is in very good shape. Will need some updating in interior, cleaning and general TLC. I actually drove this one for Greyhound in mid 80's before they retired it. I'm stoked.

this had an 8V71 as the original motor. the 12V71 was only found in the MC6 and many of them were swapped out for the 8V at some point...

I could be wrong... but, I believe that it was the MC7, that was the Only Coach (Ever!!) equipped with 12V71 Power !! I wish that they (she?) had taken a good shot of the engine compartment... would have known for sure. I do know, that ONE of the MCI models had the V12 (affectionately known by truckers of the era (60's - 1982), as "the Buzzin Dozen"..... pretty sure, it was the 7. I owned three of them (one at a time) as an owner operator (trucking).... best engine in the world (along with the trusty ole 6-71)... IF... you know how to "build" them, and set them up right, they will / would REALLY "put out".... and that goes for any and most all of the 2 cycle Detroits, regardless of the series (53, 71, 92, 110 and 149 - series 51, Not included)...... got well over a million - 300,000 miles out of each of my "12's" and still going strong when I sold each of them to buy a newer semi..... but, removed each engine when new... stripped them completely down, and then "built" them... including a full balance to the "Nth degree" of the entire reciprocating assembly, bigger injectors, advanced timing, block studs (instead of bolts), aftermarket twin turbos, "other tricks" and "OPENED" up the governor...... let that baby RUN !!.... as they were designed to. I've seen some of these coaches (especially with 8V71's and 6V and 8V92's ) running around with the governor "maxed" at 18 or 1900 rpm...... and wondering why they're "gutless" (of course some of those "silly" 4, 5 and 6 speed tranny's don't help much, either!) - lousy fuel mileage, and can't get any "life" out of them... not to mention "idling" them to death...... You have Got to be kidding me !!! Am in the process of hunting down a 1970's extended hood KW with a "12".... this time to build into a Motorhome... like you folks do with the coaches..... which I like.... but, I prefer the much easier access to the engine and transmission, of a semi..... compared to a coach..... also like having that LONG hood (of the old "extended" hood models [10" longer than "std" hooded models] of the "Petes" and KW's... that were available only with the "12's" and Cat 3408's & 1693's) out there in front of me..... coaches are like "COE" semis..... in an accident, "your the first one, there" !!! Enjoy your coaches..... sure hope you folks won't mind an ole KW / Motorhome tagging along with you all, when I catch up to you's... in the mountains. lol : )

Can I ask you a couple questions since you are a little familiar with these? I want an eagle but it's not quite in the budget yet. I have a chance to get one of these gmc's running for under 2 grand, nice straight body, engine rebuilt, just been sitting for years. It's so cheap I'm really tempted, and I'm thinking it would clean up nice... Is it aluminum or stainless? What would it take to polish one of these up that's been sitting and weathered with no shine left, any idea? Years of work? .

Similar to my experience. A while ago I was going to trade my El Camino for a 1959 PD4104 RV. When the dude opened the rear cover, I saw that engine and said "Is that a 6-71?" He said Yup. I showed my friend and said "Look at the blower!" The owner said 'I don't think it has a blower' but I showed him, and he said "I'll be damned!" 2 stroke diesel. Makes way more sense than it sounds like. Anyway, long drive, car troubles and trade didn't work out. If I'd driven it, I think I'd be satisfied

There is a "tick" to the engine. It sounds like the engine is going to need some work. Any blue or white smoke when applying the throttle?
