The sexual abuse for the youngest Erik went on until the parents death, he told the older brother and they wanted to get out. The older brother confronted the father and that's how it ended that they bought guns to protect themselves as they assumed parent were wanting to kill them to prevent the exposure of abuse. There were a few fights before the killing including right before, which made them feel threatened. Hence the argument was "imperfect self defence". The mother was an enabler and abuser herself, emotionally and physically, including sexual of the older brother! Several specialists avaluated them as genuine victims in first trial. They both were traumatised and their emotional age way younger than chronical age. They spend money after as they always have had money and with permission and advice by relatives (they were not used to think or live independently at all), they also did show trauma and grief, lost 20 pounds in 1,5 weeks, couldn't sleep, nightmares, stomach aches Erik went to doctor for, crying a lot etc, family members testified. So the puplic perception thanks to media was screwed and ignorant. The prosecution was vile and ignorant and didn't proof any of their claims. One argument was "boys can't get raped because they lack the necessary equipment". And most abuse was rediculed or ignored by prosecution while them having money was constantly argued as a meassurment of having had it better than others. It was a miscarriage of justice back then, but especislly unacceptable today. A very complex tragic case worth looking into.
