A Poem Of Nothing, 25/5/22.

Old documentation of a literary artwork about a year and 10 months ago. There exists objective flaws, though it’s free-verse structure attempts to mitigate that, that ultimately bring down its quality. Lots of unnecessary rhyme schemes that are painfully and outrageously unsubtle in retrospect. Arguably one of my worst. Whatever spirit existed within this work and time in my life has corroded, ...

    They also forgot to mention he's a better bassist than Trujillo. No amount of flamenco noodling and music posturing will change that fact.

    This pisses me off. Jason was 100% setup to fail, no matter what he did. He was a fan of Metallica and that was somehow a problem? If he was a professional musician who could play the Metallica bass parts, but wasn't a fan of the band, that would be the problem. Metallica releases an album around every 5 years or so, Load and Reload being the exception. Jason COULD HAVE worked on Echobrain and been able to tour and work on Metallica's album, too. James has some nonsense rule about no Side Projects but he and Lars can lend voices to Metalocalypse and do Guest Spots on other bands songs? Bullshit.

    The saddest part is that ironically Jason, whilst clearly being the most mature of all three was so burned after 14 years, and so hurt and disrespected by Hetfield telling him he could be replaced if he didn't drop Echobrain, that he didn't go through with the group therapy. The other three and management had the wisdom to see they needed impartial help - Jason could have used Phil Tolle as an independent ally and voice of reason and this may have opened up the band to doing side projects (which they all did eventually) and taking the year break that Jason wanted (which they eventually did due to Hetfield going into rehab). Unfortunately Jason was so burned he told Phil to leave the room as soon as he met him, and then proceeded to quit, which he had decided to do three months earlier, even telling Kirk and Lars, but no-one checked in with him or took him seriously or told Hetfield to try to give him a reality check. It's so sadly ironic that everything Jason wanted for the band such as a year's break, side projects, healthier band dynamic, and healthier touring schedules all came to fruition.

    I❤Newsted. I mean like Metallica's most famous album had HIM in it. My top favorite songs have Newsted on the bass. Once I didn't really care much about Metallica (though there were some songs I liked) until I listened to "fuel". got me hooked to Metallica, and once again, Newsted was on the bass. Jason Newsted was HUGELY underestimated by his bandmates for his work. Without him, I'm not sure where the band would've been at right then and now. Another thing about him related to his playing. Sometimes people (specifically James in this case) think playing bass with a pick is weird. But when I heard about Newsted, I just know in my heart "It's ok to play bass with a pick". I mean, HE did it, and he's a pro. We can do it too...if it's easier.

    Jason had the balls to quit Two aasholes : Lars and James ! METALLICA was a the greatest thrash metal band, but after Kill'em'all, Ride the lightening and MOP, they start to do shit : Muting the bass on AJFA was stupid. The black album was commercial and no comment for others LP's. St-anger was the worst .... No matter on sales and tours. Metallica is dead a long time ago. May Jason be happier with real friends to share new music.

    James and Lars pride killed the band, they had never reached the level of success without him, after his departure they have ride on the success of their past. Very sad that they saw him as a threat to be choked and stopped when he added so much value to the whole band 🔥

    James is like Do You do whatever you want to play to Jason. They all knew no matter what he played it was getting cut out the mix anyway. The problem was this band didn’t want a bassist for a member after cliff. Jason was never a member of Metallica. He was there for touring live shows. Nothing else. When it came to recording he had no say

    Yes well this was some time back. They are all twenty years older now. His fault, thier fault, my fault assignment of blame isn't helpful. Bands have broken up before. Some bands bigger than Metallica called it quits after loosing a member. Not right or wrong There are bands that touring casinos and clubs that started in the fifties with the second drummer, third Bassist owning the rights. Far as I know they burried the hatchet. None of them ever have to worry about needing to find a job, or how they will put thier kids through school. The four members who recorded the album Kill Em All all those years ago were not even the first incarnation of the band. Anyone remember Dave Mustaine? He was thrown out. Last I heard he was doing all right for himself. This is basically gossip.

    • @babywah3290
      @babywah3290 Місяць тому

      No, it’s history. And it can’t be gossip if it coming from their own mouths on video. This is how it actually went down and should be a cautionary tale for other groups. James stifled Jason’s creativity because he was afraid of his projects being better than Metallica, essentially. That’s pretty stupid when you don’t take his contributions for albums in the past.

    Beat the fan out of him? If that was REALLY the problem (and not your own narcissism) why didn´t you get someone else then? Absolute degenerates. I love this band, but the kind of narcissism and downright psychopathy from Lars and James is sickening. Jason really gave it his all, and the amount of hard work, blood and sweat he put into this band was even beyond Cliff´s and even Rob´s efforts. Rob got in, was showered with immediate respect and praise before he even did anything, and got 1 million dollars just because...reason, or more like: Hey dont judge us for what we did to the old guy. We are "the good guys" ya know. Jason didn't get a penny for joining Metallica and had to work his ass off and give 1000+ percent to get any recognition. They were absolute tools. No wonder they didn´t manage to make an album like And Justice For All, or the black album again. Even Load and Reload are better than the garbage they have put out in the last 20 years.

      I don't think Les Claypool ever said it when speaking about his Audition to play Bass for Metallica, but I think he saw the band dynamic and saw he would have no creative input and purposely botched the Audition by joking they jam on Isley Brothers tunes. If you notice, Rob says almost nothing during band practice and interviews, Kirk speaks up when he feels he needs to, but mostly just jokes around. They are both seen just playing on their instruments while James and Lars lead the way. Not because they have nothing to add, but because that's the band dynamic. Both Rob and Kirk are some of the best players in the world of their instruments. And while they both get time to shine, they ARE being held back. It sucks, but that was what Jason had to deal with and both James and Lars want to blame him. If Jason was a professional musician who could play the Metallica bass lines, but wasn't a fan of the band, that would have been the problem. "He wasn't a fan. And we needed that. The music needed that. So we tried to beat the professional out of him." It's bullshit. 100%.
