This is my video tutorial for how to make an Axworthy Flying Ghost for Halloween. This flying Halloween prop was built using an electric motor, a variable speed controller, 2 bicycle wheels, pulleys, fishing line, plastic air tubing, steel brackets and wood. The ghost was purchased at a local Halloween decorations store. There were many test trials performed to eventually arrive at this finishe...
You did a great job with this project.

I love it, Great job ! You gave me some ideas, thanks for sharing. 😉
Guide wheels, where do you get thos? Very nice job!
Home Depot
After watching your flying ghost machine I built one for our Halloween Display. I just uploaded my build video to UA-cam. Special Thanks are in my video, Cheers Blair
I'll check it out! Thanks!
Excellent job! I love how the ghost appears to make an immediate turn as he reenters the barn window; really cool!
I want to make one to scare intruders at night in my village
I love this version! I am about to build my 1st version. 1. I have a 1/2 horse motor from the 50's. It is probably 50lbs. I've seen this made with wiper motor. 2. I'm going to use braided fish line. Way less stretch. 3. I'm going to use an offset hanger similar to a chairlift. This should allow for line guides at the wheels and in the middle of the run if necessary.
Love your drive belt 👍😎✊
Best ever. I've been trying to erect that same thing but I keep failing. After seeing your's I know mine will never match it. Touch!
I have a washing machine motor but cannot figure out the wiring. Any help is much appreciated
I am not an electrician so I cannot help you with this. I did try a couple of different motors (ceiling fan, bench grinder) and then decided to go to an electrical supply house and made a selection after talking with a guy behind the counter who recommended the motor I ended up using.
Come to my house help me do one
This is so neat. I wish I had been one of the people who had seen this in action at night. Thank you so much for sharing your set up.
Best flying ghost I have seen! Awesome the way the tension pulleys pull the ghost to one side or the other, makes the movement much more realistic. I so want to build one of these.....but I am DIY illiterate 😖
Tudo neste vídeo é encantador 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
You are amazing.
Love it!! I want to try this!! Did u use any type of lighting on your ghost?
Ending was worth the wait!!! Good job brother!
How did you connect the ghost to the line/tubing so that it does not interfere with the spools?
If I remember correctly I used fishing spinners to connect the ghost to the line ... I hope this helps ...
How much does your ghost weigh? And what kind of fishing line did you use. Does it come braided? I want to do this next year.
The ghost is very light ... bought it at Walmart ... here is a link for the braided fishing line ... www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071129KFN/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Hey bud. Nice work. How did you get the motor to slow down enough?? I bought a 3-speed blower motor (1700 RPM) from AO Smith, and I've tried two different variable speed controllers and neither work. Depending on how I adjust the knob, either goes too fast or slows down to a stop. Have to crank it up halfway on the controller before it will even move. Then I cant keep it going at a slower consistent speed. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
As I recall if you vary the size of the pulley this will affect the overall speed as well. Try going with a smaller pulley.
@@ashleydavies2113 I have it on a chain drive. Small 1 1/2" sprocket on the motor shaft connected to the biggest sprocket on the 10spd rim.... flys around but cant control the speed. Maybe Ill try your way with a pulley and belt system. I noticed you dont have a capacitor for the motor (at least I didnt see it).....no problems starting it up?? Thanks for the advice
How did you do the wireing ? Any videos on that
excellent work!!! Can you tell me the ideal thickness of the line?

This is genius!
Great job, really well done.
That's so cool! How come I didn't get an invite to the party!
Just add a black ligth led with a small rechargable battery and it will glow nicely. Thank you for sharing.
Can you show how to make this step by step?(: amazing work!
I think the video is pretty detailed on all of the materials I used ... I am happy to answer any specific questions you might have ...
Sure would like to know where you bought that motor and how you wired it
Ashley is a girls name, stop trying to fool us, its disrespectful.
boys name ... watch Gone with the Wind ...
How did you keep the fishing line from slipping on the wheel?
I don't remember ever having an issue like that ... having proper tension on the line was important for good performance.
Im a Disney Artist and I think this video is BEYOND AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!! I absolutely LOVE IT!!!!
Great job on you're ghost and thanks for sharing. 👻
Mr Davies My name is John Flora from Idaho I love your version of your flying ghost .I'm trying to put together a flying ghost very similar to your set up. I'm having trouble finding a proper motor for my set up It either runs too fast or too slow Can you please give me some input on your motor and where you bought it Thank you John Flora
should of redone them bumpers too..
great job.. peace
Fantastic!
Glad you like it!
Why aren’t the guide wheels spinning ?
I guess they don't have to ... they are only need to apply tension to the line
Thanks so much for this. This is my first search as I want to do this with a witch in front of my house next year.
That is freakin awesome !
How is the ghost connected??
I believe I used fishing line spinners
very cool! I still don't get how the line is though..the one pulling the ghost.
Wow ive never seen such a cool flying ghost creation!
Fantastic idea
Nice work! Just please don't forget to level the table. As the cue ball was coming to a stop, it was leaning right.
Wow this video really helps I am about to set up my pool table tomorrow!!
Wanted to thank you for this video inspiration. We did our own flying ghost and put in a link from this video in our description where we got our inspiration to try something new. Thank you for your content. Here is what we did: ua-cam.com/video/_v7ugV8wcqg/v-deo.html

Love it. I want to build one now. Great job on the build
