Thanks Stephen. In the UK the Adobe Photography package is ten pounds per month so slightly more than in the USA. But I always buy a twelve months package in the Amazon black Friday sale where it's almost 50 percent off. One further option is to buy more than one, I brought two, and they just stack up. Best wishes from the UK 🇬🇧
Happy New Year
Great tutorial Stephen. BTW, what font did you use for your signature? Do you have a video on creating the signatures?
Thank you. Very helpful video. This technique worked perfectly today ( 2 Jan 2025) using Beta Version 26.3
Great video. Curious how you might do a pause that would let you change logo color depending on image. Happy New Year
Great tutoriel as always 😊 thanks Stephen
Happy merry christmas to you
Love
Wow, this is an amazing technique. Now I have to try it on my own photo. Thanks Stephen!!!
You are typical in your attitude towards free software. I used Photoshop and ACR from way back, but having Adobe parasiting all over my computer and their constant drain in my bank account I finally realized their greedy nature. So, almost 2 years ago I erased Adobe from every spot I could reach. That was after I had learned to use the free and very good Darktable raw manager, which actually is better than ACR and without distracting AI. I replaced Photoshop with Affinity Photo and the bad denoising in Darktable with DxO PureRAW 3-4, and that's a fantastic combination for a low randomly fee. The hardest part is to unlearn Photoshop. I understand that you are still paying for Adobe, and like a lot of others who are dependent of making positive reviews of prescription software, you find it pointless to investigate free alternatives. Due to such superficiality you actually don't know what you are talking about - when you claim to know about 'best editing software'.
Thanks for all the great tutorials, and Merry Christmas.
Awesome tutorial🙂Thanks a lot Stephen for this Christmas gift🙏
I used to use Photoshop until Adobe screwed me over years ago (on restoring their v5 apps after a computer crash), and I refuse to go down the subscription model as well. Now I use Affinity Photo. It does take more time on some tasks, but there are also some excellent ways to speed up the workflow.
Thanks. Great tutorial.
I’d be interested in Affinity videos. You can use my name. You’ve inspired me to do PS comps again.
Hi Stephen, I found the video very informative. What I would like is advice on workflow using multiple software. I primarily use Lightroom and Photoshop but I'll use Topaz Photo AI for denoise and sharpening. I have infrequently used on Neo, but don't see a big advantage to include it in my workflow. I shoot a lot of group gatherings and have to edit a large number of shots. Keep in mind I want all my photographs kept in the same Lightroom catalog I originally put then in so I can find them later. Keep up the good work. You may use my first name and last initial.
I use Photoshop exclusively, but it would be interesting to see the capability of Affinity Photo2, maybe in a side by side comparison of capabilities from time to time. Thanks for the quick tutorial on Neo. I've been using Luminar Neo as a plug in for Photoshop for several years and didn't know about the portrait lighting effects either. I will be trying it out soon.
I would argue heavily that this is indeed photography, especially if you’re using blend modes to just augment the colors that are already in the photo. What’s the difference between this, and hue shifting masks in Lightroom?
Thank you. I can’t wait to try this on my images 😊
Great tutorial 👍
Informative, your intro however is annoying.
Excellent... thanks
wonderful
Thanks for the the excellent new methods. I also picked up new time-saving tips. One question: I have an old version CS6 that doesn't show an adjustment brush to apply e.g. exposure or clarity in a brush style. Do you know of a way to make such a brush effect in a layer? I've been using masks, but that's a tedious process. Thanks for any suggestions. David
Since I have a bad habit of cropping in too tightly in camera, I routinely now use what AI folks refer to as "outpainting" using PS Gen AI (it was content-aware fill previously, and with less success). I have been thinking that a square sensor would help, but then I might just do more outpainting to achieve a 4x5 ratio 😆 The same approach also helps with those pesky highlights in woodland canopies. I may not be a good photographer, but I would argue that I could pull my weight by tuning (read: simplifying) the composition in PS.
Great video, I learned so much… just subscribed!
If you are looking for a real photographer shoot only color slides,no editing at all.For me all of them need to know about photography, all of them have to be and they are photogrphers.
Nice presentation, very informative; thank you
Hi Stephen, thanks a zillion for this video. I am crazy mad about G'Mic and use it all the time however the latest version of GIMP is not supporting it. I followed your instructions to get it as a filter in Photoshop but it is not in filters. I am obviously doing something wrong but do not know what. Can you help with this please?
You should be able to get it from the Creative Cloud Desktop & select the app category - then search for GMIC. Select it and it should install in photoshop.
@@stephen-photoartist7288 I have it in the Cloud app but there is no way to install it to Photoshop. It just shows the Icon for G'Mic
@@stephen-photoartist7288 I am using PD Beta, can that be the reason maybe????
@@stephen-photoartist7288 Thanks. I am using PS Beta. G'Mic only works with normal PS
@@ElnaGeringer Good to know.
i used affinity 1 for along time, the whole suite. . i switched to a linux system. im not buying into affinity 2 or else until its available for linux. gimp has to do it as well as inkscape etc
when I unzip the folder I don't get the same files and folders as you do. Was using in affinity 1 so hopefully I can get it working again
Thanks for this. Much appreciated. Is there a link to the video discussion you talked about?
The live link no longer works, and I emailed the person who gave me the link. We are still searching to see if it was recorded.
Stephen, you can use it with Krita on Mac 🖥️. I use it for upscalling photos take 20 years ago with my 300D There also a stand alone app and cli app
People like Peter cz He shoot just Nude Girls . does the Samething all the time . i think Peter Lindbergh and vincent peters are 100 times Better than Coulson . Sorry . Watch them and see for your Self . 👍💪
it Reminds me of the old Ps 7 Plug in in 2002 😆 Childish .
Cool stuff
Great info as usual. Been having fun with Christmas composites.
🙏
More and more often, I find my friends falling into category G; i.e., the category of a digital artist where photography is all but absent. This could involve AI, but even more often these digital artist friends just composite and design based on images found on the internet. With way over a billion photos a day posted there is no issue finding digital material to manipulate with all of the advanced software now available. There is an interesting related phenomenon which I consider it absurd. Beginning artists and the general public are often impressed by photography which imitates painting. The term is pictorialism and includes also sorts of digital manipulations to produce moody, artsy images. On the other hand painters are often considered to be very artistic and skilled if they are able to produce hyper realistic paintings. Weird... I use my camera to capture what nature and the world gives us. When I paint, I express my interpretations and feelings and avoid sticking to the realism that the camera can do better.
Hello Stefen. Thanks for this video and for the kind words for our plug-in. Our plug-in is not available for Mac, simply because we haven't found anyone who has tried (and knows how) to compile it for Mac. The sources are open, so this is theoretically possible. It's important to understand that our project is free and open-source, and that we have very few contributors. We're trying to do our best, but it's still a small project with very few resources for development. We are of course open to all kinds of good will (for example, if people who know how to compile programs in C++ on a Mac can hear us, they are most welcome :) ). Cheers. David.
The plug-in work nice in Krita, so on Mac use krita.
Thank you, Stephen, for your brilliant walkthrough. 👍 You, sir, have just gained your latest subscriber. 😉
Thank you for posting this, it is an amazing find! For those who have done any programming, go to the very end of the filter selections to VARIOUS. There you can access the CUSTOM CODE filter. This links to a language with an interpreter so you can write your own filters. With just the hundreds of filters available, one could spend hours exploring; with a development platform accessible, entire weeks could pass unnoticed.... Seriously, I used to use Filter Forge, but the cost of constant upgrades and the 8 bit limits became a problem. Most of the filters I used in filter forge can be found here if you dig around. GREAT FIND! Thanks for the video.😁
no sound
I just check it, and the sound is working.
Stephen. Glad you made this video. I have been using G'MIC for years, at least 10. I used it first with GIMP. Someone wrote a script to export the loaded image (layer) as a tiff and opened the application. I have been letting others within the AP users group and others in PS world, before I left the Adobe Cloud.
This reminds me of the "Filter Factory" filters of yore. Unfortunately, those were 32-bit only, but there is one specific filter that I find appealing. It is called "Mapped Checkers". It creates a distorted checkerboard effect in place of the image - adds extra interest to an otherwise "flat" surface or gradient. (I would install pre-CS PS v7 in 32 bit - just to be able to run that filter).
I'm not impressed. Sometimes it works, some other times it doesn't. Yes, it's free, but a waste of time imho.
Děkuji za skvělý tutoriál o GMIC Plugin pro Affinity Photo 2. Určitě tuto možnost vyzkouším ok.👍
Thanks...looks like hours of fun on a rainy day.
Szkoda, że nie działa na Macu :(
