So today I made Rotis based on the ideal setting of Thickness (1) Roast level (4) and Oil (2) which i figured yesterday. Also, I set the machine to make multiple rotis at once which got the Rotimatic to multitask i.e. kneading the dough for d next roti while roasting the earlier one. In a nutshell, it performed seamlessly and totally as expected. Although the Zimplistic took a really long time ...

I think it's a bit over $1000.00 US, which is quite steep for my pocket, and we don't eat Roti every day, so it would not be worth it in the long run. Quite a neat idea. Very noisy & a large unit
The families who eat rotis on a regular basis will be able to enjoy the benefit of the product fully! I think the cost of rotimatic rotis is around 5 cents compared to pre-made rotis. I am just happy that I don't have to make my family eat frozen preservative laden rotis :)

it is damn easy to clean this machine, hardly takes me a min or so after every use.
This machine looks lame. With this speed you will have to start making rotis two hours prior to lunch/dinner time. Also, the roti looks partially cooked around the edges. I was enthusiastic about my pre-registration to buy this product but for now I'm happy with frozen naan/roti that I could buy from Indian stores.
Actually its pretty fast, it makes a roti in 90 seconds.

Has anyone made roti with whole wheat flour e.g. Hodgson Mills Stone Ground Whole Wheat flour. What about the heating surface, is it non-stick? Can it work without oil?
I made rotis with ashirwad and pillsbury (whole-wheat), result was hot and puffed rotis. The pan is non-stick, yes it requires little oil.
when will it be available in India?
$999, assuming a person eats 8 rotis from a restaurent (Rs 4/ roti) everyday, he can eat rotis for 6 years without any worry in this money. Home-making is even cheeper and the machine does not look robust enoguh to survive for that long, still a good start
Ashutosh Mukherjee You state the price of the machine in $ but the cost of roti in Rs. How's that even comparable? Do you even know how much roti costs in $? This machine is targeted for NRI- Single/ working people who can't get domestic help and have to rely on either frozen (full of preservatives) or restaurant roti, both expensive options! This isn't for misogynistic male chauvinists who feel entitled to their own human roti making machines- their wives!!
These are some good points but you have to admit its pretty expensive (i rememeber it was around $500 when i register in a queue) but never the less the best option a NRI can have as you mentioned there are no maids available here who can be exploited with less money!

Although it may be cooked around the edges - it certainly doesn't look the part. Imagine guests see this when you serve them up? I'm sorry - this is a fail from me. No wonder this machine has been in hiding for so long...

if this machine in the video just cooked one Roti from the amount of time from kneading the dough and cooking it... l would say that it is a waste of money... in this amount of time l would have made several by manual hand work.... besides l like the dough to rest a bit before cooking which brings on better results.. and the Roti is bearly cooked .. so not really good.
I have this machine and believe me its totally worth it, the rotis are round and perfect.
I dont think you see the point why at all this machine was invited. in US, single or working couples do not have enough time to cook rotis at home and they also do have cheap maids available (atleast comparatively in India). its expensive I agreed but its a better choice. YOu cannot compare machine making roties with a human making rotis ...

yk it's true, maids are super cheap in India. If someone is living in India, this machine isn't worth it. If someone is living outside of India such as the USA or Canada, they can't just easily hire a cook or maid. Do you have any idea how expensive it is to do that here. For example, it would cost approximately about $20 to hire a maid for just one hour in Canada. That's about 1270 rupees for just one hour. Maybe you should check you mentality
cost of any country is depends on the inflaction and economy of that country so stop comparing $20 with INR when person earn 50k India and hire person to cook at 5k means its not cheap so u need to to change u r cheap mentality and blaming India for cheap wages in your salary in abroad if your not able to hire someone to cook at home means you are really under paid

That roti looks completely uncooked around the edges. The machine clearly needs some tweaking
I have tried the rotis. edges are not raw. they may look a bit less brown. but when you eat it, they taste cooked.

hey Pak M N T... i preordered in June 2014. i.e. 2 years back for $520 i guess... but the retail price is expected to be $999 as per Rotimatic website.. but its totally worth even for $999!!! or even more!!
