    Can I relocate an AC unit condenser without draining the Freon

    • @JACKofallmasterofPLUMB
      @JACKofallmasterofPLUMB 13 днів тому

      Highly unlikely If you are moving any kind of distance. A inch here and there assuming there is a couple foot of line set. But typically unfortunately not

    • @poundermonster
      @poundermonster 13 днів тому

      @@JACKofallmasterofPLUMB what can be the consequences if it's moved with out draining, is the unit having a hard time reaching the temperature I set it too one of them, I had some one moved mine and did not drain the refrigerant and now it's not that cold like before. My unit is 3 year old and it was working perfectly fine before the relocation.

    • @JACKofallmasterofPLUMB
      @JACKofallmasterofPLUMB 3 дні тому

      @@poundermonster assuming no damage was caused during the move, moving it alone would not cause any issues. However if a refrigerate line was damaged causing a leak for example the unit will slowly start to underperform and quickly no longer cool. However that is a more extreme case. I would first check and change the furnace filter, check and clean the condenser. If you want to get further into it then check and clean the evaporator coil and if you have the furnaces secondary heat exchanger. All these can be seen how to do in my videos. It may well be just a coincidence that you unit was moved and the cooling got worse due to a minor factor like a dirty filter.

    Only hand tightening on cartridge holding nut?

      @@JACKofallmasterofPLUMB I think the decorative nut cover is to be hand tightened, but the cartridge holding nut itself needs to be tightened with pliers, at least that's how kitchen faucets and bathroom faucets go.

    • @JACKofallmasterofPLUMB
      @JACKofallmasterofPLUMB Місяць тому

      @@sparky9327 100% in the case of faucets. Assuming we are talking about the same part, this retaining ring is smooth chrome. If the intent was to tighten with a tool it would have a means of applying a tool to it. Having replaced several hundred I assure you snug and hand tight will seal this. When these are over tighten they can be a nightmare to remove. The cartridge fits firmly in the rough in with an O ring. The retaining ring is only to prevent it from being pushed forward by water pressure.

    • @feliciasbeard
      @feliciasbeard 17 годин тому

      @@JACKofallmasterofPLUMB not to mention the deposits that build up around the cartridge and collar so it's a nightmare to pull. The cartridge is held tight with the screwed on ring, the collar that holds pressure on it from the handle that is also screwed on. It's not coming out if all of it is tight.

    I just looked at that "garden hose" gasket, and my hose started leaking! 😂 Seriously, I dont think this is a bad idea, and can save you in a real pinch, but I think for round gaskets a compass and exacto knife is the move.

    If the "brain" of your text to speech engine hurts usoing TEFLIN, then have a human speak, brush on Teflon pipe dope and wipe off the slight excess when done. It doesn't matter in which direction it's applied and if you need to remake a connection you don't need to clean it. 😁

    This is so crazy it might just work! I've got some hella cloudy pool water that i'd love to clear up for the season. time to get a sump pump and get workin!

      I have been cleaning my pool like this for almost 10 years. Doubled the size of the pool to this one now and still, same size sump pump, 1 bucket and it meets the demands. For me personally I find mine goes cloudy when the kids are in it all the time. Especially if they have sunscreen on. In the peek of summer I often run mine 24/7 but I also run it through a secondary solar panel to gain some heat too before it goes through the bucket. Good luck!

      @@JACKofallmasterofPLUMBI put in the bucket filter for my pool today. I didn't have to buy anything because I had all the stuff I needed at home. I used an old pool pump and a bunch of old towels. Once the pool is clear, I'm gonna make a water feature with the extra pump. This summer is gonna be awesome! Thanks for the idea.

    • @JACKofallmasterofPLUMB
      @JACKofallmasterofPLUMB 2 місяці тому

      @@BuuBot That’s awesome, even better you could make it work from stuff laying around. The sump pumps move a lot of water compared to a regular pool pump so might take a bit longer but it will clean it up for sure. Typically I put it on, wake up the next day to a crystal clear pool. Even after doing it for 10 years I am always surprised haha.
