Nice one Look at Brother cycles Equally as cool.
Thank you I recognise the name Brother cycles, I will investigate. Must admit I’m a sucker for small companies that do something different
Yooo whats the opening song?
It’s AI made on a website called udio. Thanks for watching
The speed metal intro is a really stupid choice.
Thanks for watching
I think Lance said himself that he was only levelling the playing field. They were all on it, hence why the win wasn't handed down to anyone else between 1999 and 2005. He was legendary, and the whole world was shocked when he confessed. Followed by 10/12 year of relatively clean sport, but i really have my suspicions that something is creeping back into the sport.
Come on, we all know Bond is a Brompton man. He'd have one stashed in his suit pocket ready to go.
@@SteveKimbo good point or more of a moulton (I think they were made by Pashley)
Thinking I’m in the teensiest tiniest way like Sam Hill has kept me from going to clips😬
I think my first grown-up bike was a Raleigh Superbe. I remember my sister's Raleigh Shopper (a Twenty variant) as being comfortable to ride a long way. I used to ride a Raleigh Maverick off road.
Own 2 stumpjumper .1 a 1998 m2 in green .used it for years , snapped 1 of the front legs giving it some abuse at style cop Cannock. Last September Propa big crash Then there the 2013 full carbon with carbon sram 00X love the finish, light weight and fast. Although now in my 50s think an electric model maybe?
I do like the idea of e-bikes it’s just hard to justify the cost 💲
I bought a Raleigh Superb in 1982 in green for £127 plus an extra £8 for lights and that was a simple 3 speed bike for like £650 in now money. A bike was a big investment back then.
Lance was unlucky because he got caught. He wasn't the first and he won't be the last. He raised an awful lot of money for cancer but most people just remember him as the bloke who took drugs, which is a shame. He made it miles worse by denying it for so long! Still a legend though 👊
@@SteveKimbo i think he did a massive amount of positive things, just a shame how it ended up. Thanks for watching
Maybe the drugs cured his cancer.
Maybe 🤔
@@freenational Caused it, genius.
That's what I'm thinking with this new info... @@freenational
Good video ! I lived next to a Specialized/Trek/ shop in the late 80-s to late 90's and never got a taste for them. I now , many years later have 2 black hardrocks, an 99 A1 Expedition, and 2 FSR enduro's. still no treks though. I like Rocky mountain,GT,Norco,Kona mostly though .
Thanks
great video. New subscriber here and Cheers from Nova Scotia , Canada !
Thank you, welcome aboard
@@bikefilth thank you. i hope to show my 90's collection in the spring. I have a few newer than that like the 2 FSR enduros but most else is 91-99.
My favorite Raleigh bike was one in the 70's that had direct metal braking. No wires. The braking system was a series of interconnected metal rods. Unique.
@@jackormbrek5043 rod brakes, I have serviced a few of those, I think Pashley might still make them? You have to remove the brake completely to repair a puncture. Love them. Thanks for watching.
No old stump jumper No new stump jumper

Yet another story of a once great British company!
Have got a Hans Rey - Monkey See Monkey Do VHS video.

The RUUUBAX :D
Sorry that is terrible
A bit unidimensional, maybe this makes sense if you live in the US.
Thanks for watching
This video is awesome
Thank you for watching.
Mat hoffman is awesome
I've still got my 80s Mag Shock. Love that old bike.
Meh, I appreciate Specialized are basically responsible for the modern MTB but I think they're overrated these days. Trading on history and overpriced when they're not really offering anything different to anyone else. Can I also say I love the bit of the intro with the trees and the pouring rain, that's exactly what mountain biking in the UK is like 95% of the year 😂
Thanks Steve, I’m not personally the biggest fan of specialized, I had a second hand vegas Bmx and it was okay, nothing special. They were a pain for independent bike shops as the seat post size was always specific to specialized, that’s probably change now.
Venge obvs😊
Thanks for watching
I can't stand the opening music.
Sorry.
Hello again
Thanks for making this. Miles didn't grow up in Durango Colorado, he grew up in Fairfax California the birth place of the mountain bike. He is a friend of mine. He definitely deserves the recognition so good job for making this video.
@@scarab9762 sorry for that bad research, please can you thank Miles from all of us next time you see him, he’s a true godfather of the sport. Thanks for watching
@@bikefilth I definitely will 👍🏼
The biggest bicycle factory in the world employed 50 thousand people in Nottingham and made all there own parts cranks pedals handle bars brakes chains rims spokes gears saddles everything....
Most definitely top 3 all time in all the disciplines. He was pretty much a pioneer in all the sports he competed in.
Raleigh Lizard was a cool bike when i was a kid.
@@Brookes79 I feel like it was the inspiration or inspired by klen, such an awesome paint job.
@bikefilth was such an iconic bike in the early 90's 👊🏻🚲
I got to know Jason McRoy for a little while just before he died . Could you do a video about him.
@@darrenwarby32 we have, but it will never do him justice
@bikefilth OK, I met him at the National Velodrome Manchester. I was doing trials down there for the sprint . He could have gone to the Olympics at it .

Raleigh had a race division they used to build road bike frame and forks mainly built with reynolds tubing and if you ever had a problem with your frame or needed some new decals etc you could just call them and they would always answer your calls and help you out plus the Raleigh burner bmx bikes were cool bikes those were the days
@@delboy868 they used to be one of the very best bike companies.
Grifter frame out of a skip, BMX parts, dad welded a N at the steerer tube...it was ace! Got nicked from my house...Next Maverick, rode that till it fell apart! Used to carry a 15mm socket for when the right hand crank arm fell off. Had me M-Trax STX-RC for over 20 years! Fosters in Sheffield and Rotherham was the place to go for Raleigh!
Raleigh will never die, There are thousands spread around the world and in peoples sheds just waiting to be restored. The company however kept missing the boat, ie small wheeled adult bikes, BMX and then MTB,s and got left behind. Still plenty of spare parts though.
Unless it’s for a chopper
I thought the Chopper was a bit silly at the time Kinda wish I had one now Wanted a Carlton but got a 5 speed Arena I rode the wheels off it even attempted touring Still have a Gran Tour that someone gave me Mostly ride Dawes nowadays
Love Dawes, so underrated
was there such a bike as raleigh robin hood?
Yes, now a bargain on eBay
Back in the day I had a Raleigh Budgie and the Grifter. Around 2005 I had a Matrix reverb which proudly stated it was part of Raleigh heritage. In the last couple of years I've seen MTB helmets and accessories with the Raleigh name & I've bought a Raleigh dropper post.
My Granddad worked there and was very happy.
No mention of Tube Industries (TI) which owned Raleigh for years
I remember when they were owned by the derby group, i think there have been many “owners” of Raleigh but i wanted to make a brief history this time, i might do a longer one in the future……………..
I have a 1983 Raleigh Sprint 1984 Raleigh Chloe A mid 80s Raleigh Mercury 1989 Raleigh pro race 1990 Raleigh Avalanche 1992 Raleigh Pioneer Prestige 1995 Raleigh Max 1995 Raleigh Cassis 1997 Raleigh Siren And a 2000s Raleigh Altere
Amazing collection
Friend of mine swapped his Nukeproof Mega for a Yeti SB160 and he loves it. Nice looking bike. I ride an Orange so I don't see a need for all those extra bearings though 😂
I’m a fan of Orange too. But if someone wanted to swap my Alpine 6 for a SB160 I’d find it impossible to refuse, he’s got a great deal there.
Last month, my brother was public spiritedly performing a beach clear up at Rhossili, on the Gower. He turned up a cartridge from an Oerlikon gun, dated 1941. The manufacturers code showed it was made by Raleigh.
Chopper was a great looking bike but I preferred my grifter , it felt stronger and faster and was better for jumps and wheelies 🚲
Rayleigh doesn't exist anymore, it's now just a Dutch manufactured brand, the Dutch holding company having more recently been taken over by an American hedge fund.
Bob,s only new bike was a Raleigh Trent Tourist bought at Rattrey,s in Glasgow in 1963 !
Great video unless you skipped the RSW models from the 60's.
Raleigh have been around since sliced bread? It's actually been around 43 years before sliced bread was first sold 😅 love the video👍
A few years ago I got a book called 1001 classic bikes (or something similar), and it was amazing to see how many classic bikes Raleigh made, they certainly knew how to stick a few bits of plastic on a kids bike to make it cool, they made the Burner, Grifter, Chopper, bomber, Chipper - and loads more.
