#14 Moving our tiny house to a new, river safe spot. Two tractors, ramp, wood planks and skill!
Since the initial tiny house place was too close to the river, we had to move things around a bit. It took a few days to completely unload the tiny house while having our regular work days, and roughly three days to move everything back in.
We're very happy that everything went well, even thought we get scared. It's a fragile structure handled by super strong tractors.

This is the veeery first video in our monthly updates playlist! We've decided to share these updates each month to help us remember and share everything (or most of it) that's happening around here. April was a super nice month. With the first sunny days, we got to spend more time outdoors, even though the weather was unpredictable like in Germany-a wild mix of sun and rain! Now in summer, many friends and family have signed up to visit us on our land 🥳 As we currently live in a tiny house, we don't really have room for guests. Therefore, we have decided to set up a glamping tent. We have summarized our learnings, problems and the costs for the glamping tent for you in this video. #glamping #glampingtent #glampingnotcamping

The First month on our land and in our tiny house was full of adventures and many first times. The river flooded, we had now running water and no internet yet, we explored our neighbourhood, enjoyed the nature, we had our first guest and Bonnie destroyed the bathroom... It is hard to believe that all of this is not a long time ago 😅 #newbeginnings #portugal #tinyhouse #tinyhouselife #countrysid...

It's the third month in our Tiny House, and it's time for a proper review. In this video, we talk about everything we like, dislike, and all the things we wish we had known before buying and planning the Tiny House. We bought our Tiny House from Casagea, a relatively new Portuguese company from Braga. We will let you know if we would buy from them again. #tinyhouse #tinyliving #review Chapters:...

yes this year was a lot of rain , atipically I would say, but because the rain is needed in a country that some years , a lot of years in the last decade was without much of it, its good because it avoids cities to run out of tube water, and for the fires...this year is a summer wioth less fires because it rained a lot...but dont count with years like this past...normally does not rain as much i mean a lot less...but i guess in the north is going to have always some more, from coimbra city down it beguins to be the more dry Portugal country.... but the nature around you is splendid, very nice choice....but be aware of the river, imagine always one super rainy run, like 2 to 4 days of havy rains , rivers are not clean, so trees they fall in the borders and it can block the natural flow, in thunderstorms one day can be furious, in Portugal from far away to farway times there are news of flods from rivers its not common but it to hapens so be aware thats always a thing with nature be more concious and aware has you are basically without imidiate help... but apart from it its good, I live in Lisbon metropolitan area, but I am from a small interior city so I need Nature, and this city now for the 35 years living in it , I am feed up with concrete landscape...but well live goes on i guess!!! keep the videos coming!!! cheers

I worked a lot in Portugal, being from Madrid I think people in general move at slower pace there. Chill vibes everywhere. I have been told many times no body works serious there in some areas, people can not be trust 100% to work by their own or had no interest. I love the landscape and the friendly people, never had an annoying experience in a restaurant or something like that. Food variety was a thing for some the guys y work with, but I love Portuguese food, plain menu of the day in most places is really good. Food quality in rural areas is very noticeable, you can taste fresh local vegetables and buy some very cheap, that is very very nice. I have bought crazy quality fruit on the road shoulder´s outside of many villages. I love eating local food being from Spain, just did the same in Portugal and never regret it hehehe. Ice cold homes are a thing there, I remember well an old home in Sintra, near Palacio da Pena, it was so cold in January I never being so freeze for a week in my life. Nice video!

Guys so happy you are living with us! As a Portuguese I welcome you. Your points are dead right, our people are wonderful with a few rotten apples here and that. Service is horrible, quite so, I don't understand it. We DO like foreigners and Brazilians. We don't like anyone that comes here to cause trouble, litter, rob and talk demeaningly about our land, people or culture. If you abuse the system and do this kind of thing, believe me, Portuguese will not be nice, but that's with everyone not just Brazilians. Online purchases, I hv been a victim too, so be VERY, VERY careful. The dogs left or let outside to roam is terrible. You see a lot of dog litter because of that, but most dogs out are very nice. The mail system co. CTT is just horrible, horrible, but no place is perfect. I hope your plans to construct finalize quite soon, so you can build and stay with us for good. Boa sorte❤

In my humble opinion, you are in one of the best parts of Portugal. It can be quite humid in the winter, but it makes up for it the rest of the year because you won’t have problems with droughts and fires. At the same time, you are close to some very beautiful areas of Portugal, as well as Galicia. You are near Melgaço, Ponte de Lima, Arcos de Valdevez, and Ponte da Barca, where you can eat very well and there is a lot to explore (you can explore the Vez walkways towards Sistelo). If you need to go to a big city, Braga is not very close, but it’s not too far either. Enjoy!

Hello! We actually live in a tiny house (this one to be more exact ua-cam.com/video/Zr9rDADk4EE/v-deo.html) haha The glamping tent is just for friends and total costs are not even close to a caravan, so far it seems to be a good deal!

Hydrologist here. The tiny house will be flooded sooner or later 100%. You sit in the middle of the flood plain. It's a FLOOD PLAIN. You may be able to guess why it is called like that. The ancient house is up the hillside for a reason. Check the flood statistics for the Rio Mouro, they should be publicly available if there is a river gauge (just checked, there should be one near Segude, but can't find details without portuguese skills). There you can find flood height probabilities, then measure how high you are above normal flow water line to see what your annual probability is of getting washed away. Looks like you are not more than 2 meters above the normal flow line. I'm not familiar with the climate or flooding regime in the region, but so i can't tell how frequently it will be flooded. I might be wrong, but looks like a very dangerous situation.

You can also spot recurring flooding levels in the landscape. E.g. right below your tiny house is no grass. That means this place is flooded very regularly (at least annually). You basically directly sit on river bed gravel. Or see if you can spot some kind of natural terrasse shape in the landscape, and realize that the area below the terrasse is frequent flooding area. It's kind of hard to tell from the video, but it might be at the bottom of the hillslope, where the bushes start behind your tiny home (minute 6:18)?

Thanks a looooot for the tips! Yes, we're moving things around here to make it sure the tiny house is safe! You're correct about the bed gravel and the flooding area - we didn't know before coming here and talking with some locals.

The area at 6:18 is not very close to the tiny house, in another area of the land.

O mais certo é estarem em zona de cheia do rio. Provavelmente vão acabar por ter problemas.

Exato! Vamos ter que mudar a tiny house do local e fazer alguns ajustes - no verão funciona bem, mas não estamos seguros na época de cheia.

Hi you two. Just stumbled upon your video thanks to the algorhythms :) I have been looking for a very similar solution, also in Portugal but is unsure of what i can and can't do. So am I right that you are able to put a tiny house on rustic land because it is removable, or did you have to seek permission even though it is removable? It would be awesome if you could tell about the process of that.

Hello! In our experience, placing a tiny house on rustic land isn’t an issue-the challenge lies with electricity and water. If the rustic land already has water and electricity for rural purposes, you should be all set! We didn’t seek authorization, but we suggest checking with the Junta de Freguesia in the region. Please keep us posted on this and tell us where are you planning to go!
