    what if the inside is leather and it's all cracked? would this method work or not? cuz it seems like this bag, the inside is more of a cloth material

      Hello, this will not work with cracked leather. Unfortunately, the only way to repair cracked interior leather is to completely replace it with a cobbler.

    Curious if this is better than the Apple cleaner and conditioner everyone has been raving about.

      Apple products are good too. But I’ve never tried it on LV vachetta leather

    vacuumed, scrubbed it per you instructions ... even had to washed it, omg the color dust is unbearable even after drying as much as it hurt I went outside to beat it like a old rug sooooo much blue dust I still don't know how to get rid of it -it just keeps on coming off. so warning for anyone taking on this project... you might want to wear gloves and a mask im still blowing the blue ick out of my nose and throat. please be warned. Lucy if you have any other recommendations please advise its everywhere!

      Hi, yes it can get everywhere, depending on the severity of the bag. In this video I am wearing gloves. I also wear a mask when it’s really bad. Vacuuming and using a damp cloth is very effective and time consuming. In my other video where I use a vacuum, I advise it can get everywhere. Some bags are worse than others. But it will eventually all come out if you keep at it. Good luck! 😊

    Have you thought of spraying the interior so it'll look new?

      Hi, no I have not, I always feared it would come off over time. But I have seen it done by others.

    Wow, I’ve tried almost everything that’s been recommended - saddle soap, Cadillac, saddle butter, Murphy’s oil soap, distilled water, lemon juice… and all I’ve been able to do was make it worse. I ended up selling all my vachetta bags because it was giving me anxiety lol. Maybe I’ll try this.

    Thank you so much for your video. I started with the vacuum cleaner on my bamboo handled Gucci bag bought in the 90s. I got the surface off but then had to resort to washing and scrubbing with Fairy Liquid (UK washing up liquid) and Woolite (UK wool soap) - a drubbing brush, a nail brush and a toothbrush. It was impossible to keep the soft leather bag out of the water entirely, I rinsed and massaged and brushed and now have a fabric liner but HERES THE QUESTION .. still a few specks of black on the fabric lining. Is it ok to leave these (the water eventually ran clear) or more scrubbing I’m so thrilled at the prospect of using that bag again!!! My lining was incredibly moist like tar - the brush nozzle couldn’t cope. Thanks again. It only took a couple of hours and I threw away the brushes, table cloth etc they were really tarry (and I’m sure when I bought it I loved the beautiful leather interior … little did I know!!!).

    • @lucyh.9884
      @lucyh.9884 11 місяців тому

      Yes, your bag is from the Tom Ford era and it’s extremely sticky tar-like lining. With my bamboo bag, I had no other option but to wash it. I conditioned the leather afterwards. It’s been 3 years later and the bag is still in amazing condition. The tiny specks is still part of the sticky lining. Try using a wet/damp cloth to get those last specks off then vacuum. Should all come off and you’ll be able to use your bag once again 😊

    Thanks so much I spent a fortune on a bag in the 90s and the interior is horrible. Do you reckon a vacuum cleaner is better than using soap and water as other people seem to do.

    • @lucyh.9884
      @lucyh.9884 Рік тому

      Hello, yes I do. Using a vacuum and a very damp cloth to help loosen the flakes/peeling is very effective. Have a toothbrush on hand to get the corners. The goal is to get down to the original cloth lining. Good luck!

    Thanks for the video. I haven’t used my Gucci bags in years because of the flaking. I did this on two of the bags with beige linings and it worked great. I have a problem with my blue one though, the lining doesn’t come out, it’s attached to the inside of the bag. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks!

    • @lucyh.9884
      @lucyh.9884 Рік тому

      Yes, I would use a damp washcloth to remove the flaking, then try to stick a small portable vacuum cleaner inside the bag. I have a video that demonstrates the washcloth method, check it out

    I'm gonna try this with my vintage Gucci Diana. I've tried several time consuming techniques. It's just been sitting because of the interior peeling and extremely messy.

    Whats your best tips for getting rid of smells in vintage bags?

    • @lucyh.9884
      @lucyh.9884 2 роки тому

      Open the bag up and place it outside directly in the sun. Depending on the severity of the smell, you might have to repeat this process for several days. But the sun is natural odor eliminator. I posted another video where I completely wash my vintage Gucci bag with Dawn dish soap, that too will help eliminate unwanted smells. Good luck!
