The audience should shut up!!
How do you mute both channels on stage to tune?
It s not a valid comparison when you have different types of strings on the two Basses.
Nice
Total amateur
great, I have a bass like yours, not really tried the stereo - but I also have the lead ricky stereo guitar and have used it to with two amps and pedal chains to great effect. You didn't mention how the tone is modified on the guitar with the Volumes in this mode, the whole point is using two pickups to find those tones, sounds great on your demo here.
I did that back in 72 my 4001 stereo the neck pickup through a Dual Showman with 2x15 JBL's and the Bridges Pickup through a 100 Watt Bass Marshall Plexi with creamback bass celestions.
This is amazing!
Sounds great, I should probably try this with mine some day haha
It’s too complicated man!!!
This is actually “Without Expression.”
I just got a July 98 Ric and the pickups are complete garbage. Did you replace yours or is your bass all stock?
Ahh thats great and its so much clearer now! so i basically just need a stereo lead plugged only into the rick-0-sound output splitting off into 2 amps. My 4003 didnt come with any documentation so i was really confused! Thank you!
Dude! This is amazing! Can't believe i'm just seeing this. Thanks for a cool tutorial on the Rick-O-Sound.
Bass player here, the speaker offers a nice response at 8 inches......... GASSIN AGAIN !!!! Thanks for the sound clips.
Best sustain I've heard in a long time 👍
Interesting 😀🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷
Great group, on the way up. Nice guys too.
that El dorado sounds so huge! Can you do more El dorado videos? Wow
I would probably roll off the tone control on the neck and engage the bass cut capacitor on the bridge to get a little more separation. It's a cool sound!
Nice Ric. I’m hoping to get one myself soon.
Since Rickenbacker quit making these. What can I use in is place. And can you refer me where to buy it? Thank you in any help you can give me.
Thank you for the demonstration I have a 1980 4001 Rickenbacker and have really turned it into a Frankenstein, I have recently spent time on their website and will order all the electronic package it came with , more to follow
It's a boost pedal
Rock it Ole Man
Thank you for this. How do you feel about replacing the bridge with a Hipshot and with Semour Duncan pickups?
I have mulled over upgrading to a Hip-hop bridge based on many positive reviews I have read but would rather keep it (mostly) stock at this point. I did add an after market thumb rest (no additional drilling) but otherwise it's original. Never considered changing pickups as I have an Alembic Persuader I also gig with for any other sound accentuations (wow that's a mouthful!). I also drag along two pedalboards.
wonderful!!!
Thank you, and thanks for watching!
It's amazing the improvement in the sound purity that -- even without any effects -- one gets by using this resource!!
I agree, it adds so much range to what the Rickenbacker 4003 can do. Whenever I have the opportunity (and the room on stage) I lug two amps and use it. Thanks for watching!
Cute 🥰
Wonderful sound. I enjoyed this duet. Thank you.
Thanks for watching, we had fun on this one!
Output both amps to 2 channels on your mixer and pan to the desired level you want to accenuate. Thanks.
Thanks for watching!
Muito bonito 👏👏👏 parabéns
Rickenbacker still puts the stereo input in their basses and guitars but no longer makes the Ric-O-Sound box. WTF ? There was an after market company that made a similar product but they also quit making them. I'd like to set my 4003 up for stereo but screwing around with "Y" cables and crap turns me off.
I acquired my Ric-O-Sound box ages ago at a guitar show here on Long Island, at a table set up by Pick of the Ricks. I would try them first and then try the Ebay option. Thanks for watching!
How Long before your wife made you either put it all away or out right sell
Well you know what I'm married over 45 years so we know how to compromise heh heh. She was out of the house at a craft show the day I made this video so everything went back to its rightful (hiding) place before she got home. But I tell you I had my Acoustic 150B standing in the TV room for many years with no objections from my Queen! Moved it because of renovations but that was my choice.
Enjoyed it
Thanks for watching!
I just aquired a 1981 4001. After a little bit of love, she is going to be a great player!
Congrats on acquiring a great bass and thanks for watching!
Hey, with a bit of love I reckon I could make sweet music, too...😁
Great video man!
Thank you and thanks for watching!
Most excellent!
Thank you! I appreciate your comment. Thanks for watching. Rickenbacker makes outstanding instruments and they have features many musicians are not aware of. Rock on!
Play Red Barchetta.
Well I did play YYZ some years ago on a fretless! Thanks for watching.
I have a Sunn Beta Bass 2 channel bass amp from the early 80's that I get some nice tone from. Even though I am still outputting through 1x15" speaker, I can dial in each pickup individually. I put some extra gain on the neck pickup for some growl/distortion and can tailor the highs on the bridge pickup to my liking to bring out the clang.
That's great, and minimizes the load-in / load-out - and backache heh heh. Thanks for watching!
I bought that same head with the 2X15” bottom but instead of getting my dream tone inwas batteling Marshall half stacks to be heard, fast forward in my life I’m back playing and have ordered a Hartke 4X8 500 watt combo and feel I’ll get the sound that’s been rolling around my head all these years lol my
I have a fantastic 4001/1974, thant I've bought brand nee that time. Since the very begginig I start using the amazing Rick'o 'Sound, with an stereo audio amp, having different loudspeakers for each channel ( for the bass channel, having 2 x 15" loudspeakers, and 2x 10" ones, for the treble channel). Two fabulous advantages of using the stereo resource giving by Rick'o'Sound: It eliminates the cross modulation from the lower frequencies onto the higher frequencies (as the treble and bass sounds are given by separate loudspeakers): Secondly, you can add effects on a given channel (generally, the treble one) , such as phase shifter, distortion, wah-wah... you name it, but keepin the 'punch' of the bass unchanged!! I still have/used a lot!! ... even being 64! ;-)
Agreed, the separation of pickups makes for great clarity of the treble and bass tones. Rock on!
Good job! Is that a new Gibson guitar?
God bless your Mom! Wish her a Happy Birthday for me. Was Dottie recording you? Whoever it was sings better than you! Well done. Kudos to all involved in the production.
Yes Dorothy was the videographer. Everyone sings better than me! Thanks for watching.
Great demo. But do you always keep your pickup cover on? Doesn't it limit your playing position?
Thanks for watching. I have never had a problem due to the pickup cover. I play above it and below it with no issues. Might be in the way for some players based on their comfort position but I am not having any problems. Rock on!
Great job and tune.
Excellent demo. Thankyou sir!
Thanks for watching! I am still using my Ric-o- Sound setup to this day except now I sometimes replace the SWR amp with my Hartke TX600 head and Hartke HD112 cab. Rock on!
or u can use an SVT :)
I have an Acoustic 150B that does the trick when extra air movement is needed! Thanks for watching.
Great video man. I have that same Carvin practice amp too.,
Thanks for watching! Yeah the Carvin has held up through a lot of gigs!
This guy gets it.
Widow Speak, thanks for the compliment, and thanks for watching!
What I don't understand is: when you push your switch down, you are using the neck-pickup, but you say the sound is going to the SWR. Shouldn't the neck-p.u. go to the Carvin?
Rein de Vries, you are correct, I had it backwards in my description. Thanks for watching, hope you enjoyed it nonetheless!
