It was actually rare to make Paul laugh like that and she managed it with the joke about her real father

I'm not even trying to be funny, but IMO Steve Martin and a slew of other so called comedians especially ones that got TV shows I was never impressed by them and really think they are unfunny ppl. Look, Steve Martin as a dad in father of the bride is fine, but standing on comedy alone and stand up he's very much weak. Look at this list of ppl who had shows that weren't funny at all. Steve Harvey first and foremost, Cedric, drew Carrey, tim Allen, bill engvall, Jeff Foxworthy, ray Romano, Kevin James and it goes on and on, as TV characters fine, as making me laugh or being truly funny no way it's a very ironic thing, it's like they are mass picked as TV leads because they are safe and politically correct, Patrice O'Neal is hilarious yet why didn't he get a tv show? See what I mean? But Steve Harveys fake big smiling chicklet teeth zoot suit wearing ass is all over TV.

Steve Martin's weak stand up comedy was intentional. He comes from the Monty Python school of absurdist, silly humor. He was playing a noncomedic comedian, with all those nonsequiturs and tangents thrown around during his routine. He wrote an article once wondering what would happen if he told jokes, but never got to the punchline-the tension would rise in the audience, and he wondered how that tension would be released? The noncomedic nature of his routine is what made it so funny. For many who would try that style, it would fall flat-but he has a natural comedic ability that made it work. He purposely ended his standup routine, while he was still on top, because he realized that, eventually, that style of comedy would get old. Having said that, there are people who hate monty python humor, so I guess he is an acquired taste.

Your premise is flawed. Richard Pryor was filthy and went on to star in several movies. Eddie Murphy was raunchy and moved to the silver screen and has done several “children’s” movies. Bob Saget’s stand up was filthy and he went on to do Full House and America’s Funniest. Rodney Dangerfield wasn’t clean. He went on to have a ton of success outside of stand up. Chris Rock? Pretty controversial comedian. Dave Chappell? Not a safe choice. Redd Foxx? The list goes on. They aren’t “safe” or “PC”. A lot of comedians are given development deals that never turn into anything. Steve Martin’s stand up, as he states in this video, was intentionally silly because much of the comedy of that time was heavy and political. So he wanted to do something totally different to make people laugh and take them away from the heaviness of the time. If you look at it 40+ years later without that context and without that appreciation, then it looks like just silliness.

I actually enjoy part II the most although admittedly part I is one of the greatest movies ever made. But part II is one of the most ambitious sequels ever made. It's a pure junk food & cola binge in movie form. It was the first in the trilogy I saw so part I seemed slow & tame to me in comparison when I eventually watched it as a kid but I adore it now

She carried this interview. Helped take the attention off Christopher Lloyd and filled the awkward silences. He’s very much like James Gandolfini was. Shy and awkward. Artists at the end of the day. Not comfortable being celebrities. That’s the type of actors I love as they’re all about the craft and nothing else. They don’t take themselves too seriously and they don’t understand why everyone wants a piece of them. Humble and grounded

These were peak movie geek years for me, I was 12 and on first name terms with the people at blockbuster! I'd watch film night in my bedroom and get excited about all the new releases. I loved the scene at the end of interview with the vampire where Tom cruise jumps from the back seat and gets Christian Slater's character! A guns n Roses cover of Sympathy for the devil plays as he drives off over the golden gate bridge.. roll credits. 1995 was a great year for movies ❤🎬
