TOMOUNT Tent Stove - First Burn
Переглядів 2,3 тис.2 роки тому
One of the cheaper wood-burning tent stoves getting it's fire lit for the first time. Seems well made and efficient with plenty of heat from a small pile of damp sticks that were lying around. The small cover plate started to warp as the stove warmed up but flattened out again once everything was up to temp. Smoke eventually attracted Sasquatch that you can just hear calling at 1:45 and 1:48 so...

      Not really, I'm still experimenting to try and find optimal settings to get MSFS running smoothly. In the video here it was actually really good, the motion smoothing was working very well (better than it looks in the video) but the next day using the same settings it wasn't nearly so smooth. I think there is a problem with Pimax's Smart Smoothing where it is not always on, it seems to jump between being On/Off. They have said they will work on improving it but no idea when. I'm hoping that MSFS 2024 will have improved performance too. I'll get back to you with my settings once I've spent a bit more time on it.

      We've only had the chance to use it once in the tent and we didn't have a carbon monoxide alarm at the time so weren't keen to try it through the night. Would be interested to hear how you get on if you try it. As you'd expect the temperature plummets as soon as the fire goes out, I wondered about maybe putting some stones around the stove to retain some heat :)

    Does your game crash after the race and you go back to the menus?

    • @naughtyman2887
      @naughtyman2887 11 місяців тому

      No it works perfectly now but I did have that problem, if you are playing on Steam then you should right click on the game in your library, select Manage -> Browse Local Files. In the folder that opens right click on Ride4.exe and select Run as administrator. Also in UEVR try to press Inject as soon as possible after you launch the game, you should be able to do it when the first Logo screen appears. If you are still having problems you should delete the existing save file from C:\Users\(name)\AppData\Local ide4\Saved\SaveGames and turn off Steam cloud saving from the game's Properties menu. Hope that works for you :)

      Yeah, I'm sure it is., worth a try and refund it if you don't like it. It's all about the control/physics/momentum, it's very good game. VR makes it seriously exhilarating though.

      @@naughtyman2887 ive played a few hours. tough but lots of fun. one thing im having trouble with is boosting. ill boost and gain speed, but ill also gain altitude. as soon as im done boosting ill start dropping altitude fast and need to pull up and slam on my shift key to keep from hitting. any ideas or tips on how to mitigate that problem?

    • @naughtyman2887
      @naughtyman2887 3 роки тому

      @@itskastrand You have to mess about adjusting the the angle of the boosters at the back. The centre of balance of the ship and makes a difference too. You can move components around to balance it how you like. I try to keep the weight forward and the boosters angled so that the nose wants to hang down a bit, when you get the balance right the thrust from boosting becomes easier to predict and control. It's hard to describe properly but a bit of trial and error and you should work out what's going on.

      @@naughtyman2887 yeah trial and error is a big part of my process so far. lots of crashing and losing money too haha. instead of using the flying brick of the starter ship, i might keep doing instants until i can get a bit of cash and trade up to the hopper. a bit more nimble and easier to control

  • @nortap10

    Hey so this is the best video ive seen so far gameplay wise and Im currently on the fence, do you play with a hotas+vr or just vr with gamepad? How steep is the learning curve if you Still play??

    • @naughtyman2887
      @naughtyman2887 3 роки тому

      I play with a gamepad, I have hotas but by the time I tried it I was already so used to the pad that I just stuck with it. The controls are really great, it feels like a very good flight sim to me. Found it steep in the beginning, it was a long grind to get the resources to build a decent ship with a lot of trial and error, I think the building aspect has maybe been tweaked so it might be a bit easier now. Luckily the game feels amazing (if you can get it running smoothly)and there is an Instant/Arcade option that allows you to race a fairly fast craft and earn cash that way. I was on the fence for a long time about buying it, really glad I did as it's one of the best computer generated experiences I've ever had, the sense of speed and momentum is insane and I've ended up with a scary amount of hours logged on it. I haven't played it for about 6 months but still love it every time I go back and definitely will again. If you get it on Steam try it for a couple of hours on the instant races on hard (fast) setting and see if your stomach/brain can handle it, refund it if not. Settings I found best were AA off, Graphic Detail High, Motion smoothing off but worth messing around with them to get it running as smoothly as possible. Would be good to hear how you get on with it.

    • @naughtyman2887
      @naughtyman2887 5 років тому

      Yeah I played it in VR, the stomach sensations and the way that you can actually feel the drops and turns is what got me into the game. It's makes a massive difference to comfort and presence if you can get the game running at 90fps without using any re-projection or motion smoothing.
