Good Morning Hunters! I'm ACozyGoji here to bring you variety content, namely surrounding the Steam Deck!
(OLD) Monster Hunter Rise: What Went Wrong?
This was a topic I've been wanting to throw my two cents into ever since other content creators started to voice their opinions on Rise.

The original....starts talking abour world what?
Dynamic hunting then, but we hot MH now 😭
Definitely a downgrade, yeah?
The Seregios shown in the World clip is from the Monster Hunter World: Resurgence mod.
Monster hunter world despite being the easiest in the series had my worst encounter with the black dragon named Desire Sensor. I wanted to try bowguns for once so I tried to get the upgraded odogeron bowgun that had basic ammo rapid fire but I couldn't get a fucking odogeron gem to drop until iceborne came out
Very late comment but i'm begging this fandom to stop using ragegaming as a reference. You can't just have one person say a thing and it immediatly becoming a "theory".
Well to be fair, Frostfang always did feel like a deviant, even without Rage's input. I'll be sure to fix that next go around since this video is old and incredibly outdated.
@@acozygoji I wasn't expecting you to reply, but i appreciate it a lot ! If you do happen to plan another iceberg video or something similar and mention Frostfang Barrioth, one fairly popular theory among spinoff players that ties into it's name is that it could have been given as a little but cute reference to Monster Hunter Stories, which had come out only a few years before, and in which one of the main characters, Avinia, bonded with a Barrioth and named it Frostfang. This could, in this context, have also been a hint towards MHS2, which would then most likely have been in development, considering this game came out only a few months after base Rise in 2021, and less than a year after Frostfang Barrioth's debut in August 2020.
Full adult gobul , thats creepiest probably bigger than lagiacrus
Fatalis in mh1 had around 20k use a hp display to see. And he’s so tangy because of his defense
Nice to know for sure, I'm was it was exaggerated to that hp because of that defense
I will say, with the most recent Title Update for Sunbreak, it certainly seems like the Amatsu vs. Valstrax rivalry is canon. The reason being that Crimson Glow Valstrax shows up in its ambush attack during the Amatsu fight every time. The only exception to this is when you have Utsushi as a follower for the quest, in which case he lures a Rampage Apex Zinogre to the fight.
It was a pleasant surprise to be sure!
I love MH games even if the only ones ive played are MH OG and MH2 (never have played in xbox series, ps3 or above and stuff) MH OG in ps2 been playing for more than a decade and that monoblos never gave me the item of "monobloss heart" haha
There isn't a single good microphone in this collab.
Very good video
My head canon is that the "Equal Dragon Weapon" led to the development of super-human Hunters, and it was abandoned because it was much more practical to breed super-humans in vats than it is to engineer a mechanical weapon. These super-humans are probably the Hunters' ancestors, or even the entire human race in the current timeline seeing as they were the only ones who could actually mount a resistance against living, walking calamities like Elder Dragons.
I love this video so much omg!
I think shara ishvalda Is the gaia Dragon, because the gaia Is name in a actual shara armor
what i dislike about rise is how the weapons feel, the weapons i was so used to in world just felt really clunky and awkward in rise. Hits didnt feel as meaty, not speaking about the damage, but about sound and how much oompf the animations have. In MHW when you hit something with a switch axe, greatsword, charge blade or hammer, you could feel the weight and power behind those hits, but in rise it feels a lot less satisfying. Lets take the charge blade's super amped elemental discharge, in world you slam down the axe and lighting shoots out, with the wind up and the camera angle it feels like the attack would kill a monster in a single hit and the sheer power behind the swing causes lightning to erupt from the earth. However in rise the attack feels like your swinging a stiff pool noodle and the lightning has turned from a god slaying attack to a small fart that so happens to do damage.
there are two things that "killed" rise for me: the world not feeling alive enough , running around hunting fantasy bugs while passing giant monsters living their live s brought tears to my eyes. and wyvern riding/wire bugs just felt goofy. and that combined with the small selection of monsters really drove me away.
Honestly i feel like Rise is amazing but the balancing problems are really bringing it down, from how easy the content is rn, how strong and weak weapons are (technically also including hitboxes for some weapons) and how new monsters are just having the best armour sets/skills which is kinda mh's issue overall iirc. Fuck micro transactions as a whole as their really bad for a game and are becoming way too focused as well on everything (halo infinite for example) which i hope to god somehow the massive focus on money for everything will do a 180 and not be a main focus for game devs. MIght also just be a personal issue for me but i despise the new mount thing in rise and wish we still had old mounting.
Slight mistake: zorah made the guiding lands. They were hinting at it in the story too
Kinda late to the party and someone might have mentioned it already, but I'm pretty sure it's said on the lore that the guiding lands itself are made from Zora Magdaros, so it's not that he died there it's that it was formed from the energy he released in his death
Though you probably already know, the frost islands also have a zorah magdaros skeleton (monster hunter rise). Perhaps there have been multiple zorah
Kinda miss the old games
Miss them? You can still play them, and they're still great.
@@mallow2902 yeah but online play won't be possible anymore
@@hntr_official false. There are methods to play the old MH games online through means such as Tri's fan server project, and for games like 3 Ultimate and 4 Ultimate, there will be fan efforts to keep them online as well. The community keeps these games online.
Desire sensor is true i got 5 gems from xeno'jiiva
Ive watched this twice, and learned new things both times lmao
yian garuga elder dragon lmao
Here we go again. Expect an updated and massively expanded iceberg sometime next year...
Any idea on the when it's coming out?
Currently shooting for early 2023 now due to various complications
Yay new content! I actually came to this video to see if any new uploads were on here. But take your time buddy we're all rooting for you
well shit.
Alright boss what's the expected date
why didn't u put the sapphire fatalis on the list
Why would you spend so much time putting this video together but not take 2 seconds to edit it and fix mistakes?
This video is well over a year old, cut me some slack
I just hope the next MH becomes like the definitive MH game, like the God of Monster Hunter games.
I always felt like Generations(and it's Ultimate ver.) were the definitive Monster Hunter games due to the sheer amount of Monsters available to hunt and being able to revisit some of the previous villages, as well as all the cameos and references from other MonHuns. But that's all personal opinion, I wouldn't mind hearing what others think.
@@brosan5000 with content mhgu is like not other BUT it has many man issues that made me distance my self from the game.even tho I love it.it’s endgame is super unbalanced that a lot of styles even weapons A can’t do certain content or B requires you to take 30-40 min a hunt.also because of the large amount of content you can feel that alot of monster did not get much love.so much of the fights were boring and not interesting at all so much to the point that out of the 90+monsters in that game I can only name 20 I truly like.mhgu is a great game and I have over 700 hours in it but it dose have his problems.I tried to get many friends in it but they hated it with a passion lol.I feel like mhgu was made for true hard core fans of the series and did not care to much about being a game everyone can enjoy which is not a bad thing honestly
Spoopy asf
the video is awesome, good job!
The game launched unfinished, the event quest suck with them lacking actual rewards, the microtransactions are pushed far more then World with all things you would think would be event quest rewards being payed DLC, wirebug is OP and anytime you say that, some Rise fanboy comes out of the bushes and says "Oh YoU dOn'T nEeD tO uSe It", which is stupid as that completely avoids the flaws.
This "Bioweapon"... Sounds eerily similar to the Rite of Channeling in Stories. I know this came way before that, but what if Stories used it as inspiration? "Powers of every dragon" well with the right genes, you can essentially do exactly that. "More bloodshed, more Power" Genes are used up from a Monstie we own, and as such we can deduce that it ends it's life. I dunno, its a crazy theory.
That one song you chose from Yume Nikki is fucking scary lol
There probably making the switch users suffer until the pc port comes out -.-
Fun fact. The Franken dragon isn't real, and only part of a world building concept for monster hunter 1
The thing I’m upset about is end game. Talismans is not an incentive to play.
Wyvern riding is just a huge annoyance. Every hunt gets put on hold due to a monster slapping one and placing them in wyvern riding status and suddenly you are forced to mount them and either smash them into one another or drag them away to another spot to continue the fight. Rampages are the worst addition to the series. Tower defense just doesn't suit the play style of the series and equipment and upgrades are locked behind the rampage tickets.
Thinking about it, yeah, Rampages really did do a lot to hamper Rise. It was a cool experiment, but it just doesn't work as well as they hoped. Back when it was fresh, at least for me, it was home to some of the hypest moments in the entire game cause you and your team are taking on an entire army of Monsters, nowadays, I can't even stomach Rampages that much anymore.
I dont know if you ever feel like committing to the reforged version of this, but I hope you do. This was a very enjoyable video even if I already knew about most of this.
I'm still waiting for mhfro tier(remakes maybe) Sadly never happened
2:47 This is a very unfortunate design choice that Capcom need to just deal with.. No one see the pandemic coming. Rise was in development even before the switch was released (Technically it was in prototype in that stage) so changing it is rather impossible later on.
Honestly rise just went by too fast/was abit easy, I feel like if capcom slows down the game abit it would be much better, bring back the grind/the challenge to make players stop and strategize instead of blowing through the game in a week then not having anything to do, and an endgame would be nice/a reason to fight apexs besides charm materials
I enjoyed my time with rise but I don't have alot of urge to play it at the moment besides doing the new event quests, but with the launch if stories 2 it might be awhile b4 capcom brings the attention back to rise
It's a portable game, the content is supposed to be "bite-sized". Really not hard to understand.
@@kevine9474 GU and 4U are Portable too, and there base games took longer to beat than rise, there was more grind involved, harder, and there was an endgame of sorts
33:17 This is correct, monsters are more likely to attack me instead of my friends, so I just go all in as our tank
Being the tank is surprisingly fun! I just sit there with a lance and take every hit with barely any hip lost
They should just put purple outlines around monsters. Tempered tobi was scarier than apex zinogre lmao
it's my unpopular opinion but it sucks that it was on the switch anything else it probably would have done better all the new stuff added was fun i just don't like the switches controls this is also coming form someone who has 2 switches
The game is good but the switch's technical limits really is holding this game back. Hopefully the big expansion gives it new life.
The game itself is designed with switch in mind it was developed even before the switch was released.. Even the gameplay reflects it since it was fast and easy to pickup and play..
I was missing your nice voice!
bruh this was the same problem with base world.like the same complaints with rise rn are legit the same complaints world had when it first came out.TO EASY,SHITY ENDGAME,NO CONTENT,like bro????
Really is ain't it? Except for whatever reason, everyone is even more hostile towards it.
@@acozygoji i think the problem is people doesnt see any reason to hunt. Due the difficulty seems more easier than world. Plus You dont have the need to like farm talisman because talisman is easy to get and it only covers like 20% of your build and only makes your hunt faster like 5 minutes thus makes the drive to hunt is lesser. Also on world base i was like oh i am farming the weekly tickets in case when the new monster came out and we need to meld its gem or other monster's gem. Or oh i need that mythical attack jewel to finish my set. Or oh i need to make more max potions so i want to help newbies while growing my plants. Or oh this events only last a week time to get in before its out. I know its not like the best content ever but it indeed prolonging the game life span. I saw a japanese mh youtuber like 2 days ago posted that the outrage is happenning in japan community mh too. He at first comparing the monster roster is basically about the same at world and comparison with previous iterations as well and jokingly said because everyone was trigerred by the handler thus japanese people didnt complaint the lack of content. He said in the end he still enjoyed rise and some people on his comment section saying stuff like kulve siege and limited event quest keeps people engaged with world. I personally find the problem is difficulty. They need to balance the wirebugs moveset with monster move set. Not just blindly makes the monster faster but make them punish you if you do wrong. On rise you just chug with faster drink animation and what is the use of max potion and ancient potion in this game XD and the sense of progression is almost not there. On world i changed armor couple of times i think it was from basic to jagras kulu to odogaron and rathalos lr and then rathalos hr to nerg till end basegame. On rise i just basic to kulu mix and lr magna and hr magna is more than enough to finish the HR. And making the monster is visible on the map as soon as you get in while it was very convinient. it killed the exploration aspect and appreciation of the maps theme themselves. I only remember the most memorable stuff on the maps is the big pyramid on rise. On world while at first i feel overwhelmed by ancient forest but in the end i found it very fun to explore along with coral and elder recess. On rise since everyone is like already out of the map people wont explore the smallest nook and cranny.
World did at least have an endgame, rise just straight up doesn't have one, that's the difference
@@joesheridan9451 it does. Its called talisman farming. Who people don't even bother with it due to 5 minutes faster hunt if you get the god talisman vs okay talisman. Thats the problem while on deco farm you build your set slowly. On rise its tooo fast to finish the set like jet engine fast instead of a normal nerg dive
@@WhiteRaito Limitation breeds skill and creativity. The Classic Games understood this, and with the limitations placed on the player by limiting the weapons movesets and the availability of healing forced the player to either become creative or good. With Worldborne the trend moved on to remove more and more limitations from players, starting with unlimited items, the ability to change weapons and armor on the fly and the sheer number of skills on a single armorset to only name a few. The Result: A game where players became so powerfull that the way monsters act and react upon the players had to be changed to keep any resemblance of difficulty intact, especially egregious in the later stage entries like Safi, Alatreon and Fatalis. The gameplay changed from a deliberately slow to medium dance of action and reaction to hyperaccellerated action combat as a result. Rise now continues this trend, and where the clutch claw started the wirebug continues to add more and more mobilityoptions to an already accellerated playercharacter, making the monsters moves almost irrelevant as any knockdown or flinch can be easily gotten out of by spending a WB charge, or similarly ridiculous blocks for certain weapons that turn the hunter into an immovable object. Even worse: The designteams idea of how to deal with all of this BS is to simply increase damage or make the monster faster, which changes the game into a binary: You're either at full health or dead. Its no challenge: Either you roflstomp the monster or it roflstomps you, nothing in between, no tension at all. This is imho the sickness that afflicts the series the most right now, and i seriously hope that they turn it arround again someday. But my hopes are low since now that Pandoras Box has been opened and all these "Quality of Life"-things are in the games now it will probably stay the way it is.
The only reason why I hate this game is not because of the game it self it's because it's a switch exclusive do they not even care about the people who play on playstation
When World came out on PS4 , I thought they are gonna do that the same thing with Rise (PS4/5) , and sooo many people bought this game cause Console players are a big community but they went back with switch , and the worst part is that it’s a switch exclusive as you mentioned :( Lets just wait and see what’s coming next
You know PlayStation bouta get another monster hunter game by team 1? Exclusively to next gen consoles (and pc probs) rise is also coming to pc so…
Mate. I sold my ps4 and bought a switch so I can play rise and I regret it. So I wouldn't worry too much. The game is a big disappointment
I hope the next mh game in the future will be for all consoles so every one can enjoy it
@@joesheridan9451 bro why on earth would you do that lol. You just set yourself up so hard. Like I like monster hunter but…I wouldn’t sell a whole console for it.
I really hope they make significant changes to make G/Master Rank harder and not just buff up attack and health of the monsters
I'm sure they will, in most cases they made G-Rank monsters genuinely scary to go up against in the past by making them much faster, and giving them new attacks\attack strings they can combo into quicker than in High Rank.
Though increasing health and damage is a massive improvement for Rise.
@@kingofflames738 but just improving those 2 makes for a crappy difficulty increase
People always say this shit but i’ve recently been playing world and all of the monsters even in MR fall over like a toddler with whooping cough game is baby infant easy and the clutch claw is the most broken piece of shit ever made
To address some things: If I'm wrong about any of this, PLEASE let me know in a civil manner. I was only able to scrounge all this together with fragments of info from the Dev QnA and other news sources. Also, sorry for the strange sounds heard from my mic, I'm still getting used to recording again and was a little too close to my mic. Bear with me ^^;
