When I took interested in Korea a couple of years ago, I started reading and watching, listening to many programs about this country. Materialism must be the very first thing I've noticed. It's shocking, to be honest. Of course, wealth is important, everything depends on the money, nobody wants to be poor, still... Because my parents went through Japanese colonization and Korean War. They had to evacuate to Busan. There was nothing to eat. My father fought in Korean War. My mother always sad Korea has no natural resources so we have to rely on human resources. Korea has been attacked, colonized, invaded and destroyed by neighboring countries for centuries. We have deep PTSD that was been passed down. Success means the ability to control our destiny and not be at the mercy of others.

OMG how awful is this ??? I used to have Korean students stay at my home in the UK 🇬🇧 Obviously it’s amazing that they young adults get the chance to study abroad I had ones that were well off and ones that were less well off but I treated them all the same I have friends that are well off financially but to me it’s not about your financial position it’s about genuine friendship and supporting each other not really up on Korean culture but just have to say I had a most enjoyable time taking care of these students in my home for up to 1 year at a time and would certainly enjoy them to UK anytime and they are more than welcome to stay at my home rather than pay hotel bills🇬🇧🇬🇧

I am so sad to hear this news. Why do we let hate have so much power in our lives? We can receive 50 words of love but one word of hate overpowers all the love. I hope these celebrities can be strong and receive more support and protection. We love all the actors and singers please let them live their lives and continue to give us pleasure.

The problem is the audience/knetz are too dominant vs idol /actor or actress. And the freedom of is speech is too much, they think they can control your idols. Let them date and be free from hate. Dating also has a big part in developing a character of a person. Let them love and be love, they're also human being, you dont own their life.

Hello Average Korean Man. 😊Yes, I saw in the news that the death of Song Jae Rim and it has been very much talked aboutthese last days. Well, I have started to watch a lot of dramas from Korea lately and I sometimes, I listen to some K-pop too. I really like both. I believe the actors and so called idols are so neat and competent, but as everything in this life comes with a cost, I wonder what price they have to pay. They probably have to deal with a list of endless conditions at work and of course, a lot of envious people. I guess all those conditions put together can lead some people who are more sensitive to try terrible things, like suicide. I wish they could choose different and continue with their successfull lives. Have a nice weekend.🤗

Its such a catch 22 because how I see it....many become idols/actors to escape the harshness and competitiveness in the working society which is very brutal....some many become idols/actors because they love it but I think its also an esacpe....its an escape that comes with a cost though...and that the obesessiveness and demanding celebrity culture in Korea...they are expected to be a fantasy for their supporters and perfect citizens....its sad because they are not protected by the law or government...they are actually ridiculed for the smallest of things....
