Hello James, your videos are superb and this leg was an incredible knock. I had to postpone my South Downs walk last year after a bike accident, however I intend to go this year probably mid June. A couple of questions if you can help me. How far from the Blackcap trig point did you camp on this leg. I see on the map there is a sharp right turn to head down towards Lewes, I take it that was the sign post you missed? Also how long did it take for you to get from Littleton Farm campsite to the Riverside tea rooms? Thank you for sharing your hiking experiences, they are certainly a great help to me
@garethmurray1621 Thank you and I hope the hike goes well. That was indeed the wrong turn I took. Can't quite remember times between places as it was so long ago.
Great description, massive help, all the best
@jamesmcquillan7915 Glad it helped.
I enjoyed your video. I plan to go back next year to walk it again. I walked it this year.
Best flask known to man , I’m heavy Deisel Mechanic outdoors all the time in bad weather it’s as important to me as my Toolchest I couldn’t work without it.
Morning James, thank you so much for this. I found the one you did on the SDW invaluable. What's the next adventure?
@@justinfletcher1882 Thanks Justin, glad it helped. I have a few in mind but will wait until spring as it gets dark so early now.
HI James, loved this very helpful. We are doing the WHW in the first week in May. Really looking forward to it. All the best mate.
@@DAoutdoors Thank you and you'll love the hike.
Thanks for the information of the route 👍
Good and informative video. Thanks.
Well done, you really did put some miles in there. Glen Coe resort to Fort William in one go? Absolutely well done. A fantastic film and an excellent adventure. Best regards, respect and well done. 🍻🍻👍👍👍👍
This is lovely, you got lucky with the weather, I was in the area last month and it was glorious except for one day where buckets of water were falling from the sky. I hope your nephew's knee is better
@@Ouga_Official Thank you, ye the weather was just about ok. It was gutting that Alex couldn't continue.
Brilliant video
Nice wee stroll lads, Conic Hill is worth it though next time.
Great to see you back. And another smashing video. Look forward to the next one!
Thx for sharing your adventure.
Fantastic work! Great to see you back with your eternally positive outlook.
Morning James. Absolutely fantastic. I'm doing this in May next year, this has really made me look forward to it even more than I was. Cheers mate, all the best.
@@DAoutdoors Nice one, you'll love it, hope you have a great time.
Very happy to see you back. I was wondering when you would upload another video. Great to see you back!
@@thecowboycamper1195 Thanks mate, your videos were a great help.
This has just popped up! Great to see you back!🎉
he's back! looking forward to this one :D
Welcome back James, love your videos.
😎 video though ❤
Couldn't work out if yo came down the Mynydd Moel route and followed the fence down to the stream????. Or did you come a different way down, mate? ❤
I recently upgraded from the mini to the micro squeeze a few weeks ago
I imagine there is a natural curl to the aluminum can that ca it to want to roll up which helps it cling to the cup.
Where have you gone James? I hope that you are safe and well.
This is genius but, what if your pot doesn’t have a Handel?
I love Cadir Idris.🥰 Snowdon is far too busy nowadays! The views from Cadir are astounding.🥰
Thanks for the tips James, very useful, I'm doing it in September. I totally agree on the ultralight thing, I'm aiming for around 13kg which I train with, including a chair, as I'm nearly 60 and that is something I have come to really value having. I've done the Haute route in Switzerland so I know what to expect with steep climbs and false summits. I'm really looking forward to this one, it's right up my strasse.
Glad it helped l, enjoy the hike 👍
Nice one James just binge watched your coast to coast👏🏻
really good advice, no skipping over the tough bits and very concise - thanks
Glad it helped.
Down sleeping bag estimate for comfort limit for a male with average sleep temp: 700g: -5*C 500g: 0*C 400g: 5*C 280g: 10*C
Cloudup 2 is a great all rounder budget tent. Fee standing, so you can pitch anymost anyhwere, and not need to peg down like the Lanshan 2.
Cheap/improvised gators = plastic bags with an rubber band to hold them in place.
I pity the fool who drops litter in the countryside in front of me. I'm a militant git.
How much water did you carry between each fill up? What would you recommend? 2 litres? 3 litres? (I have a Katadyn Befree for rivers and streams etc)
Englands green and pleasant land. Aaaah..... 🌳___🌲🌲__🌲
That Osprey is known for speaking. I can only recommend a squirt of WD40 on the joints before a hike.
@JAMES what is your base weight kit list please?
Great to see you have not monetised your channel. Adverts do my head in. Thanks.
Food / energy estimates. For each hour you are hiking, you will need approximately 300Kcals in addition to your "base metabolic rate" this is how much energy you need if you were to lay on the couch all day. There are many calculators online to find your BMR. (~15Kcals per pound of body weight) Most adult men will need 3000-3500Kcals for each day. Those dehydrated meals are usually 350-450Kcals each. Do the math.
@JAMES What size pack would you recommend to carry everything you need for the trip? (food diversions if required.) How many days food did you carry at the start of the journey? Thanks.
Food tips: - Jars of peanut butter in plastic pots. - Stash a cache by car in a hidden place by car before you start your trip. - Get someone to meet you on your trip to drop of supplies. - Order a delivery food item to a location on a map that a scooter can reach. - "Carb load" before you leave. Google it. - Dehydrated foods. You can add water at many locations. - Oat packets for morning high energy. Finally - if you are feeling beaten, get a taxi into a village and book a room for a night.
Been looking for a windshield, something like this could be the way to go. Thanks for the idea.
Your presentation style is fantastic, very relaxed and genuine.
Thank you, glad it helped.
How hot damn hot as hot as two rats screwing in a wool sock on the hottest day of the year hot
Hi, when booking the campsites how do you do it/pay? Is it a case of calling them and paying cash when you turn up? Cheers
I booked in advance online.
Walked (with 4 others) from Southease to Eastbourne over night last June. Got to Alfriston around midnight with not a soul in sight.
Are you using an Exos 48? I’m so excited to do this journey before I leave my mid fifties 😂 lots of learning going on for me. Amazing.
Ye it is the 48, it's a great bag. Enjoy, it's an awesome trip 👍
So simple, smart and light. Well done. I knocked myself in the head saying, "Why didn't I think of that."
