Great video as always. Loved that you explained the difference between afternoon and high tea. Pet peeve of mine! One note - we were at the Ritz for afternoon tea a couple of weeks ago and for men it's jacket and TIE. They probably have extra loaner ties if you show up without one, but I just thought I'd mention that. Loved this video!!

Thanks for the info. I'll be in London soon. One thing: it's unlikely that Anna Maria Russell invented afternoon tea. Google "Why The Duchess of Bedford did not invent afternoon tea" to see why. If anyone has a claim on it, I suspect that Catherine of Braganza has a better one. (Also, the 4th Earl of Sandwich did not invent the sandwich, but that's another story).

thanks for explaining the Teas!!!! I was on a cruise with some friends from Leeds and they took me to afternoon tea...when i was given the scone I went to bite it and the face of horror on both of their faces with a head no shake...so I set it down and cut it and then went to eat one side and they shook their head...and then explained..the creame or jam first..and I said what if I did half and half? HA..

I know it’s not politically correct but I’m gonna say it anyway why are there more white folks out here? This seem to have tons of money to travel around Europe around the world and just be so happy and smiling about it and talk about their exploits on the train and all that stuff is it because there are less African-Americans or less advantage or less money I’m curious.

Right now, I am in a solo travel in London. For accommodation, ofcoz it cost me around £100.00/night in Central London, near Victoria.

We’ve booked our main train travel (London to Chester and back), but we’re holding off on tix to and from Brighton, as we’d rather go on a less-rainy day. Hope the rail prices won’t be exorbitant for booking the day before.

This was a truly useful video, though some folks might want to consider a stay in St John’s Wood or Maida Vale-two lovely, primarily residential areas that not only have their own charms but make for fairly quick tube or bus rides into central London. I’m not sure about hotel options in those areas, but we’ve found terrific airbnb rentals.

I’m a crazy-detailed planner, so on previous London trips I’ve filled most days with walking tours, dinner reservations, and theatre and concert tickets. I still think it’s great to do some of that in advance; however, I’ve learned to leave at least some unscheduled time for relaxed exploring of neighborhoods and more flexibility for spur-of-the-moment activities. Also, bring Neosporin! I found I needed some, and I couldn’t find any! That brings to mind another thing: for me, at least, if you’re planning to do a lot of walking (and you should, if you can), consider bringing fewer items of clothing and instead taking 2 prs of great walking shoes-maybe one pair that’s water-resistant. Blisters are no fun! Also, if you are staying anywhere near Paddington, the Heathrow Express is inexpensive if you book it really early.

Love watching all your videos We also stayed in Wengen after staying there last year and loved it so much we went back this year. Thinking you had the Berner Oberland Pass that we had. We have 3 kids and had a Swiss Family card as part of our Half Fare card which makes it so much more affordable.

If you get a Navigo Metro pass 1) each person needs one. You can’t go thru the turnstle and then pass the Navigo back to another person. 2) to me the turnstyle was slow in opening so I thought the pass didn’t regisister so I tapped again. But that made the turnstyle think that I was having another petson use my pass and so it didn’t open. We got that straightened out with an attendent, but it irritated me each time.

You have to wait 2 hours in line to get on the train???Then what's the point...?(apart from the train experience) Flying there sounds more convenient altogether
