Hi Jacob I agree, Tewkesbury is a great place to take a holiday. There is an excellent caravan site, a marina for keen boaters, as well as hotels, self catering appartments, guest houses and B&B's. There is plenty to see and do in the town which has a variety of cafes, restaurants, museums and a theatre / cinema. There are many interesting, pretty, historic and cultural places to visit in the wider region. Have a great time there during your next holiday.

The venues that I know about have live music at the weekend and I notice that your holiday in the Cotswolds is from Monday to Thursday. You can check out Stroud Brewery and Tap Room. Smokey Joes in Cheltenham and Cafe Rene, Gloucester but I'm not sure that your dates will coincide with their music nights.

Yes, I visit the museum from time to time and it is really interesting with impressive displays from pre-history through to modern times.

It has just dawned on me that, not only does this town have my father's surname (see on my channel), but you have my mother's surname (Don't worry, I don't use it on the internet as a password). @@AnneBartlett Thank you Anne. It does not surprise me that Mark Philips went there, or that his marriage to Princess Anne ended. I met Princess Diana back in 1986 when she opened a children's hospice at Willen in Milton Keynes. She was wonderful to talk to, and I took around a dozen pictures of her back then. I cried when she died. She was the Princess of my County of Northamptonshire. As her funeral cortege passed through the M1 in Northamptonshire taking her home I placed a single red rose on top of her hearse. That part of the journey was not shown in the media. Tens of thousands of 'locals' walked across fields to get onto the M1. The police tried to stop us but they were heavily outnumbered. The hard shoulder was lines with a sea of people, and every bridge was overloaded with even more. There were so many roses thrown onto the hearse that the driver and the police out riders had to keep stopping every few yards as they could not see where they were going. It was the eeriest and yet most beautiful thing that I have ever witnessed. The crowds were silent apart from sobbing, and the whole motorway was covered in red roses. You could hear the soft crunching as her hearse drove slowly past. It was very moving as England's Rose sailed home on an ocean of red rose petals. Hi Jeff Thank you very much for your comment. I'm no expert, but I've discovered that Burford was granted one of the earliest market charters in the country during the late 11th or early 12th century by Robert Fitzhamon Earl of Gloucester, a relation of William the Conqueror. Around that time Burford, was carefully planned and burgage plots were allocated for homes and workplaces to be built fronting onto the market place. The High Street was left wide to allow for temporary stalls to be set up along the middle of the street allowing people and carts to pass either side during its weekly market and annual fairs. The local burgesses were quick to take advantage of the commercial opportunities that came their way. Burford’s market and location on the packhorse route to and from coastal ports made it an important and wealthy medieval town.

Hi Aswin. Congratulations. The Royal Agri University is a great Uni in a very attractive town. At the moment there is horse racing at Cheltenham. They will need extra staff during race meetings.

It's lovely to hear that you have visited Cheltenham. The cricket festival is one of the highlights of the towns social calendar. It is played on the grounds of Cheltenham College which is a perfect setting. I hope that you enjoyed my video about Regency Cheltenham. I expect that your overnight stop before travelling on to Birmingham airport doesn't give you much chance to explore the town properly. I have produced another video about the northern part of Cheltenham called Explore Pittville. ua-cam.com/video/y2y8CROHTB0/v-deo.html It's an attractive suburb of Cheltenham but was originally built as a rival spa town.

What is really special is the treetop walkway which gives you a different perspective of the trees. I bought an annual membership this year so that I could visit as many times as I liked.
