    Hello from Pembroke. Quick question, the canteen holder you use to cook, I'm just making sure your not using aluminum. I know the army surplus sells some, and if its aluminum, its not safe to consume from long term. Heated aluminum seeps into your food, and can give you Alzheimers. If its not great, thanks for the vid. Take care.

      Thanks so much for your comment! It’s actually stainless steel thankfully! I’ve seen those aluminum kits, and I did pass on those.

    I did 2 nights here solo too late this August, the bass fishing was hooot but no luck with lake trout this time. I've been here a few times especially on Sucker Lake in late October. For others planning fall trips, do wear blaze orange if you hike around. Hunting is allowed here in off season so should have your puppers in blaze orange as well. Sucker Lake is no motor boats so much quieter, Bottle Lake boat traffic fairly light even in mid summer.

    Beautiful. great campsite there. I've never been in on east side yet. I've watched a few of your vids! I went into Big Trout on June 18th in the heatwave and no one there. The birds were incredible then. longest day of the year and they were a chorus every morning starting around 4 am. Don't think they are as full on in August when I always go in. First time going in before August in 2 decades. If you have an Android phone, try the free download of "Merlin" or a couple other ones. It's a bird ID App. records, analyzes, and stores all the birds you are hearing or seeing. I'm getting to know the calls now.

    Done the trip over 50 times during 2019 and 2020 with my buddy catch and release fishing. It's well worth the trip for a measly 81m portage especially if you're staying overnight. An extra 5-10 minutes to be on a lake less trodden will always be worth it. This double portage is without a doubt the best one to take if you're planning a portage trip for kids, seniors, beginners etc. Last thing you want to do is be kilometers deep in Algonquin Park with someone who isn't ready for it.

    I've been to that park a few times, the first time I went there i camped on Big Salmon Lake, although that was so long ago I don't remember it. The past few times I've gone I went to the west side of the park, so that's the area I know a little bit. It's hard work when you can't drive to your campsite, when you have to either paddle or hike to it, but that's part of the fun, you have to really plan what to bring because you have to carry it. I load up my kayak, piled high with all my gear, with bungy chords holding everything in place, and hope I don't tip. That park is full of poison Ivy, it's everywhere, you really got to watch what you're doing, and don't go walking around in the dark, I got it so bad one year I had to go to the hospital. There's lots of nice hiking trails in that park. I'll probably visit it again sometime this summer.

      @Camp_the_woods 3 місяці тому

      Thank you for the poison ivy warning. I would like to go back as well. It’s the park closest to my home, I’ve only been once. So much to explore there. 💛
