    Nice detailed review for the Icon Contra 2! Went over a lot of points I would look at when getting a riding jacket. All or most seasons, strong zipper, armor, and ventilation! Icon needs to sponsor you or another brand for riders!

      It's a good jacket, in my opinion. I waited a good long time before doing a full review to make sure it was decent. It's not a cheap jacket, so I wanted to give as honest of a review as possible.

      I also lost the helmet.cam today. Took everything off the helmet.accet my communication device. I'm trying out some new camera setups. Hopefully, they will work out. More on that to follow. Quick question: What do you typically shoot your videos on to get such clear and fantastic videos? Yoursetupp is excellent.

      @meandmyshadow7839 that's the difference from someone not sponsored and can give an honest review with real usage over time and miles, nothing ruahed. If you are into these types, do it again in 6 months or a review during the "colder" Texas months. Definitely valuable to future consumers and an eye opener to brands out there. 💪

      @meandmyshadow7839 I read that wrong at first and thought you lost your camera while riding!!! I use the GoPro 10 and shoot 4k 60fps. Edit on Premiere Pro and match my sequence (editing timeline) on 4k 60fps. 30fps is tv shows and soap operas * I think, while movies are about 25fps. 60 frames per second is more for videogames because it isn't "realistic" in the sense of watching a show in front of you. I prefer 60fps because I want the best picture for how I intend to film and edit. Comes at a cost. I can't record as long but I combat that with brining an extra battery. Stop and go traffic or traffic lights don't let the GoPro breath so it may overheat and shut off to prevent damage faster than shooting at 1080 30fps. Any other questions, feel free to ask away!!!

    I say keep the name. It doesn't have to be from the name of the bike but rather you and YOUR own shadow. Double meaning💥 Everyone has a personality on UA-cam. Anyone can talk about motorcycles, but people come back for YOUR opinion or thoughts. Keep it going! Also, I agree with time flying by the older you get. I've always said the more responsibilities you have, the faster the time flies. Take care!

      @meandmyshadow7839 День тому

      Yeah, I don't think that a name change is going to happen. I honestly believe that doing that would do more damage than good. You are also correct about our time and responsibilities. The more we get, the faster it goes.

    I enjoyed my shadow aero a few years ago. I now ride a Honda ST1300 and love it. It's great in the highway and you can often find them inexpensively on marketplace. Shadows are great reliable bikes though and I sometimes wish I didn't sell mine for in town rides.

    I remember riding my first motorcycle, a hyosung 125 cruise, yeah, a 125cc cruiser, going to college there was this street where the sun would hit me just right and project this long interesting shadow of me and my motorcycle. I like the name of your channel because it's not me and my Honda Shadow 750 Ace, it's just me and my shadow. A year to a five year old is twenty of their life in memories. To a sixty year old that is only 1.6% of memories in one year. Also the kids brains store many more visual snapshots of memories of that year so the sixty year old not only has 1.6% percent of memory making up the year but many less snapshots of that year got stored so it plays back much quicker and less of it when going back over the memories.

    who's saying that the shadow has to refer to the honda shadow, a shadow caused by light is under you, a part of you, same as a motorcycle, keep the name, switch the shadow(bike) 😉 Being i guess what some would call younger, I'm still trying to figure out how to deal with time speeding up, its quickly but slowly getting away from me... Less time to do things then it seems like i use to have to do things, maybe its the energy levels going down, who knows...

    I wear a neck gater, like the kind you see fishermen wear. I pull it over my head, and under my chin. When I put my glasses on, I can slide the arms of the frames under the gater. It almost guides the glasses into position. It also helps prevent my ears bending over when I put my helmet on.

    Safety courses are extremely important and you should never stop practicing your slow sleep maneuvers in parking lots. To adapt to highway riding I would start on smaller two lane state highways that have like a 55mph posted speed limit and do that one exit at a time and then once comfortable with that would slowly work my way up to interstate highways with 65+mph

    Just tried a windscreen this week and hated it, can see the comfort and benefits in winter in it but made the ride so boring sort of felt closed in instead of open n free. I'll just put more concrete in my morning coffee and harden up 😅... Removed it asap. Might try it again later but highly recommend going clear not smoked for your first shield, the smoke makes it annoying spotting those close up bumps. Seat,bars and peg position the basic ergonomics is the same for comfort, might love the way a bike looks till u get on it and it just doesn't suit you. And watch out on steps, I got cobra ones on my shadow and they have fixed arm support metal bracket under the step, it makes pegging out much lower and will take your back wheel of the ground...

    I don't get why people hate them. I can see why people may not like them over other options but i don't see anything to hate. They're not a performance bike or marketed as one. It's a city plus cruiser. Meaning its design is focused on commuting but capable of touring. I like ripping the throttle and not instantly going into felony territory. I can actually play around and have fun without making everyone mad including the cops. That being said I've still made them angry 4 times in the last year with my riding. I got too used to highway riding and after i opened my exhaust started ripping up to speed really hard and holding a little too much over the speed limit on main roads.

    • @meandmyshadow7839

      Some people just don't understand the bike. Like I have said before, they have to see it and try it before making a decision. Most folks don't do that. I also noticed that I have had to watch my speed lately after coming back from a lot of highway speeds. I guess it's just hard to get used to city street speeds after cruising at higher speeds for a long time.

He genuinely disliked my bike when he looked it up the first time thinking it would suck. He rode and it said it still sucks but only as much as any other cruiser. He'd recommended them to anyone wanting a cruiser though just because it did handle itself very well and was fun for a hog. I sometimes play with the idea of upgrading but then I run into that coming off the highway issue of finding myself blasting around town. Then I think about it and I'm blasting on the freeway to work everyday holding at least 75 and blasting up to 85 90 and honestly I max her out on the empty country parts in the morning for a minute or two just to stretch her legs. 100 on a cruiser is something else. Think I'd rather not go faster on a cruiser

    Love the TPMS idea, is it still holding up? Also nice power adapter, but is it a clock or trip timer, seen the buttons in the lid to start and reset .

      Tpms is working fine. It's a life saver, literally lol. The power supply is actually a clock that quit working. However, the power still works fine.

      @meandmyshadow7839 thanks, I hadn't even considered something like that, checked tires many times that were very low and didn't realize it

      @smoky812 The system is called Sykick. I believe it was around 50 U.S. dollars when I got it off of Amazon. It works well.

    Hi. Thanks for the video. How do you know when to switch gears

    • @meandmyshadow7839
      @meandmyshadow7839 11 днів тому

      Usually you can tell by the engine. When you are at the top end of the rpm of the gear. You can also get a rpm gage that will indicate this. However once you start riding you will know when each gear is at its max. Good question !!

    I got rear ended last year waiitng to make a left turn, flew about 30 feet. Have serious anxiety about being stopped in the road, even while in a car. I hope one day it'll lessen, but it doesnt keep me from enjoying the ride. I do tend to try as much as possible to make right hand turns now.

      Wow, I'm really glad you're okay. I know that I would be paranoid if that had happened to me. I would be nervous when cars come up behind me. Glad your still riding and enjoying yourself even after this happened. Thanks very much for sharing this. Great comment!!

    MC Cost: No !...1/10 that. 2004, Honda, VT1100C purchased in 2011 for $3,800. Still running strong. Gearing up for front fork seal refresh next Friday 8/30/24 for a trip to NC from SE Looziana. Check and replace fork oil folks. Look up your maintenance intervals for fork oil.

      Have a safe trip, and by the way, that is an excellent suggestion. I think most folks forget about them until there is an issue like a leak.

    Great suggestion we always plan the route I will even ride though it in my mind, which turns and stops, intersections I will also take the higher speed roads in increments like you mentioned and then getting back on to side streets almost as a break.. 😅 Thank u 🙏 From a new subscriber

    Safety courses are huge! I've been riding, untrained, off and on for over 40 years. I'm in the Air National Guard and they found out that nobody on base had been keeping up on training, so they made us get up to date. They offered up a BRC2 course, and a level 3 advanced group ride, as well as an annual safety brief. I thought I knew it all...but the BRC2 course using my 800lb Triumph Thunderbird 1700 taught me so much, and now I'm actually confident instead of lying to myself...lol. Anybody can point a bike down the road and go...but the slow stuff will mess you up in a heartbeat.

      Many highways have older parallel scenic back roads which I prefer it just takes a little longer to get somewhere if you're not in a hurry, I've been riding for about 56 years now and only had bikes with windshields for the last 24, and don't know how I ever survived before then, my last 2 motorcycles were 800-900 pound 1500 & 1800 Goldwings but I made a drastic downsize to a 350 pound Honda Helix 250 scooter 6 years ago which uses a under stressed motor capable of 75 MPH, with being able to cruise at 60-65 all day, I love the lightweight easy handling, low maintenance, step through frame easy mounting (with me having NO left ACL), NO clutch or shifting, feet forward position, 70-80 MPG, my only anxiety is caused when riding alone which never used to bother me because I feel much more safety & security when riding in numbers. 😀

    • @meandmyshadow7839
      @meandmyshadow7839 12 днів тому

      @Serpico1152 It's always safer riding in numbers, and some folks would argue that it's more enjoyable. I guess that I don't have the problem because I have almost always ridden alone. That honda helix sounds like it is perfect for you. I also wanted to point out that you just gave an excellent example of adapting to change as we move through our riding careers!!! Great comment, and thanks for the comment.

      @@meandmyshadow7839 Thanks for your nice reply, I failed to mention that I'm turning 72 soon and by having good anxiety fear while riding is what's made me more aware and a survivor to this day, I've always had a fascination for scooters as well as all motorcycles. After I sold my last Goldwing I didn't think that I would go back to riding ever again but got interested after building an ebike project then thought a small 50cc scooter would be fun just for short trips arround town, but then decided on a larger size one capable of taking on occasional longer rides.😊
