Adding Theme Music to Solo Video Podcast Episodes - Descript Tutorial
Long video yet no mention of price
No problem. It depends on what country you are in, and where you want to purchase it from but in USD it's about $180 at the moment. There are a couple left on Amazon: amzn.to/4i2ontd
What about the storage ..shooting in 4k
yeh 4k is a beast! it requires a lot of free space on your phone. iPhones shoot 4k30fps at a bit rate of about 45Mbit/s which works out to be about 300Mb every minute of footage. To give you an idea, we shot a series of approximately 30minute episodes recently and each iPhone camera mov file came out at about 11Gb. On the iPhone 15pro and 16pro models, you can connect an external SSD via USB-C and record straight to that (just have to make sure you get a high-end footage capture SSD that can write at fast enough speeds to handle the huge amounts of data from the iphone).
why would you shoot in 4k though? not too many viewers have the monitor or internet speed to watch in 4k
Yeah I got duped!
I feel your pain!
The fake one gives a bit more richer highs on it. But a lot of that can be post edited but I guess it all boils down to is quality build and will it last as long as the real one. Most likely not but time will tell I guess lol but sound on it is not bad at all considering
Completely agree. I'm holding onto the fake to see how it fairs over a longer period of time to test that exact theory!
Wow, thank you so much! I've had this mic for a couple years now and honestly have had no idea how to use it properly and couldn't understand why it never worked well. I appreciate the advice and tips and yes, love the shirt! :)
Hooray! Glad I could help you out. Your audio should improve significantly now. Enjoy!
Great review! Love your uncomplicated style.
don’t forget your towel.
Yessss! I love that you appreciate the thumbnail 😂
Love it! what mic that you've reviewed would you recommend for vocalists at home? (USB ideally) I've tried Rode NT but looking for something better
What kind of setup do you have at home? Any acoustic treatment or anything? Recording in a bedroom with carpet etc? Size of the room. Let me know and I'll give you some recommendations!
That means I am 3rd... and I as hoping you were going to say Riverside, since it kinda seems easy. But then now I'm looking at Descent because you made a great case - I'm conflicted 😅
Descript is definitely a bit more to figure out how to use, but if you're looking for more customisation - it's got to be the winner!
In my own opinion, the fake one could sound as the original with the right setting.
You're right. A bit of EQ'ing and you could get it sounding pretty close.
@@bambymedia that is if you have something to compare with.. 😁 to make it sound originally.
Great video thanks!!
Thank you ❤❤❤
Hey bamby i'm also using shure mv7 i don't see manual and auto feature
Hmmm that's odd. So it just has an auto feature? What does it show exactly?
Thank you great timing i am thinking about getting a usb mic❤🎉
fantastic! what are you going to use it for?
@bambymedia I going to use it for voiceover.But I can't decide between podmic USB and nt1 5th gen😐
Ooo the Rode N1 5th Gen is a condenser microphone. The Rode Podmic is a dynamic microphone. N1 will give you richer tones for voiceover, but because it's a condenser microphone you'll need to be in a space that is more "treated"/ has some sound proofing. N1 doesn't handle well in rooms that have too many hard surfaces or are too large. Podmic handles this much better but the tone isn't quite as good. So - your decision should be based on where you're going to be recording. Hope that helps!
@@bambymedia Thank you so much for clearing that up, I think the podmic usb suites my situation better because most of the time I will be recording in untreated room.
Thank you, your videos are so helpful keep up the good work❤
what if i want the pops? pop pop poppiddy pop
No problem! leave the pop filter off, open up the case, and just chew on the diaphragm of the mic :)
The pop filter is different on each mic which will give different sounds too
Yep! Slightly different sounds with each pop filter but it was negligible. I switched them around to test that theory when I was recording the video, and it was such a small difference I didn't even bother mentioning it. Also - love that your UA-cam user name is TeaBagginsMcGee. Made me giggle.
Nice
I am shure u sing with 58 . Or other mice .. What you think mv7 sound more good than 58 ? Thank you
Although I haven't put those two up against each other at the same time, I would say the SM58 is a better overall microphone than the MV7. SM58 is a classic microphone that is great for live environments and also handles untreated rooms as it's a dynamic microphone. Very sturdy and nowhere near as may plosives "pop" issues than the MV7. I haven't tried the new MV7+ yet though - that might outperform both of them. That video is yet to come!
@bambymedia thank you 😊 🙏
I was looking for reviews on the microphone because I want to start my podcast and I found your channel. You are so sweet and your story is so inspiring. Thank you for being here and good luck ❤
That is very kind of you. Thanks for watching and I'm excited to hear you're thinking of starting a podcast. It is very fun to be a podcaster!
Its the same 😂
Very similar sound isn't it! I can hear the differences, but I have a trained ear - so most people probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference! I'd love to know the longevity of the fake too. How long before it starts to die? That'd be a good test to do.
You are very likable. UA-cam is hard and you're going to nail it. G TO THE G: Good Game!
You're very kind thank you! I just checked out your channel and you're a heap of fun too. Hooray for content creation!
Very helpful.
These AIs don't have any subjective experience at all. They only put words together based on statistical models. That's why it's very hard to make them talk like they're aware of themselves being robots. There's not much materials out there to train them on - materials of humans roleplaying as robots talking about themselves being robots
Bahahaha wouldn't that be hilarious!? Training the AI on how to make fun of themselves. So good.
Love this story, and resonate with it so strongly with the position I'm in at the moment... I think I'll be booking a consultation with you shortly so I can ask a few specific questions about running a Podcast Production house 😊
Oh I'd love to have a consult with you Matthew. Reach out via email and we can get something organised when you want to dive into it.
@bambymedia Thanks Brianna! 😊
This South African female needed this video! Thank you. What a legend!
Yay! It's nice to hear a female testing the microphones isn't it! Prior to starting this channel, I was always listening to male voices and it was never a good comparison to my own voice. Glad I helped!
I have the Rode Podmic it only has the 3 prong connection not sure what it's called.. does not have the USBC connection option. I've got the Roland bridge cast one as well, it's showing that my mic is picking up me talking, I downloaded the unify software not sure how to use it because the Rode central software says "please connect a rode device" I'm assuming it's not compatible. I would like to tune my voice and be able to hear it but I'm have trouble locating how to do so.. what did you click on? I'm new to mics like this, I came from the hyperX mic
Thanks for writing in :) Ahhh, so you've got the Rode PodMic whereas I'm using the Rode PodMic USB in this video. DSP (or digital signal processing) configuration saved to the microphone itself is only available on USB microphones as they produce a digital signal. As opposed to XLR microphones that create an analog signal and whose sound is configured using a preamp. To customise your sound, you could explore the vocal processing options within your Roland Bridge Cast interface.
saw this was over 10 mins long clicked away
thanks for the feedback :) and daaaamn, your dog is a cutie!!
i’m happy you noticed i was trying to help haha thanks
It'll never replace podcasting, but as a college student it's pleasant for studying purposes.
Yes! that's precisely what I was thinking. :) Great to have some bots read you a text or journal article, but can't replace hosts reflecting on lived experiences that enrich a story worth telling.
That Rode software seems way behind what Elgato and Beacn is doing in terms of software and DSPs. Beacn saves everything to the mic as well but I dont think the MIC is nearly as good. Elgato lets you use any VST but its gets processed on the PC. I wish Rode gave you some noise suppresion, expander and a proper EQ.
Hi. Try the Maono PD 400X sounds way better than the Rode Podmic Usb.
A lot of this mic are defective. A bunch of them die after some time and a lot others (via USB) keep disconnecting. Have you ever had this problem? This mic is really good, but it has become a nightmare for a lot of people. Really sad!
Slow reply here sorry! We haven't encountered that problem yet with our clients. Only thing we've encountered is the USB cables failing after awhile, but this is to be expected. USB cables are not super long-lasting generally, especially for microphones. Only other issue I've seen is with Rode PodMic and Microsoft computers depending on how old they are. For some reason they don't tend to play as nicely together.
Cool video, thank you :)
Great useful video, THANK YOU!
Great little video. Just what I was looking for.
I am planning to buy this podmic with USB and XLR or 2 in 1. I don't have a treated room and there's roads on three sides of my home. Would the rode software be able to reduce all the background noise. And I don't have any audio interface to connect so, I'll use USB.
The Rode Podmic can handle noisy environments well as it's a dynamic microphone. The DSP settings will help with noise reduction - it won't be able to remove all the background noise based on what you've told me, but it'll do quite well. I'd recommend recording with all windows and doors shut to try and reduce noise (sorry if that makes it a bit hot in your room) and try to dampen your space further by putting some soft furnishings in your room like pillows or a rug (etc). That will all help to reduce the noise the microphone is exposed to. Make sure to watch my DSP settings video to help you with your settings!
@bambymedia That sounds promising and I hope it would at least remove 75 percent of background noise. Thanks for replying 😊.
they sound different but goddam for 1/3 of the price
Yeah it's not a huggeeee difference is it. For that price reduction...they've done quite well.
You are awesome, please keep going on this channel. Loved the singing and this mic arrived for me today and this was a huge help!
Oh yay!! I hope you have lots of fun with your new microphone. That always feels like Christmas to me when new microphones arrive.
Thanks so much. These setting helped a lot especially the noise gate setting.
You're very welcome! Glad it helped.
Bottom line: It is meant to put on a table and as such - it's no good.
Yeah it's odd that they decided to include a tiny stand for it, because it's definitely not designed to be on a table. The pictures on their website mostly have it on a boom arm (which is how we recommend it) and for that price point, it's still one of my favourite microphones to recommend for new podcasters. Never use the stand though. It's a bit of a silly feature.
This is great! Thank you. Useful tip to monitor with cheap headphones and in different environments.
You're very welcome!
tryna buy it in Brazil, but it costs 400.38 USD here, I hate taxes in Brazil :(
Oh damn! That's a lot of taxes! I hope you find a microphone that works for your budget.
Am I 2nd?
You are 2nd.
If youre not first, youre last!
Exactly the video I need today! I have been going back and forth in my head about these two so I can finally start my podcast! Can't wait to the end to see what you guys say about which is the better option!
Oh yay! Glad to help you make the decision. Which one did you end up going with? I'd be eager to know whether I've convinced you either way!
So cool, and healthy! Thnx, Bamby!❤
You're very welcome! Glad to help.
❤
Should have compare with SM7DB instead of SM7B
That video is coming soon! The SM7DB wasn't launched yet when we recorded this video, so it'll be time for an updated battle shortly.
Problem #1 is iPhoney is dead. Picked off by Dark Maga. That it's music to my audiophile ears. Ace Frehley should have never threatened us with a wall of Macs when we had nothing. I wanted him to pay for his insolence, Yet not at the expense of everyone else.
To be honest, I don't hear the difference. Any good recommendation for voice-over mics? Thank you
Ooo voiceover work can be dependent on the location that you're recording in. If you give me a little bit of info as to the type of room you're going to record in, and whether you have any acoustic treating/panels or soft furnishings, I can help you out with a good answer to this question.
its fairly new and fairly shit
Would love to know why you think it's not a good piece of software? I've been very impressed with it so far.
@@bambymedia If you have any other type of audio software it conflicts constantly. If you need to change any of the settings on the mic itself you either have to do it on a different pc or you have to do a fresh install of the software. It works once allowing you to change the settings. Once you close the app after that you are screwed. When you open it again, it either hangs and becomes non-responsive OR the app opens but doesnt allow you to change the Mic settings(Clicking on the cog wheel) and it shows everything as blank. The previous software they had did not have this issue, its only with this app. Its beta for a reason but they dont allow you to download the old software. Having to reinstall or have a different pc that has no other audio software is a problem no one needs So yes its fairly new and fairly shit.
for ref I have voicemeeter and voicemod that i use which the motiv mix app seems to conflict with.
