The earlybgothic stone work is beautiful. I walk to old Abbey and cathedral in the UK and its very similar to thevearlybenglish gothic. The big green stone with the four flower designs is the exact same asnivebseen on medieval floor tiles in some of the English abbeys

Visited in 1989 & again 1990. A hauntingly beautiful place. A pity there became a need to gate it off from miscreants who would wish it harm. Thanks for the informative tour.

The statue of St. Augustinian has fallen down now. Its costs too much to look after places like this. This Abbey is oldercthan most countries in the world. Its not right to let something like this go to ruin. Visit Holycross Abbey on the road to Thurles for an idea of how magnificent the cloister at Athassal Abbey actually was.

My age of 70yr old my grandfather Blue was born in Ireland and moved to Scotland he always had his blackthorn walking stick with him my dad brother also sometimes done some boxing in the boxing booths my grandsons age 6yr old and 10yr had a great time yesterday playing around my back garden one had a old walking stick the other had a brush shaft I was showing them how to use them they play fighting and practice on the heavy bag I have hanging out my back garden

I recommend you study your airfield area using the "Google Earth" free app, there is often an out-line of the airfield seen from space using the "Google Earth" free app satellite. This cannot be seen on ther ground and is often much more defined from space. Seanie is the iconic friendly Irishman who graciously shared with us the history and sights of beautiful Cahir . Meeting him at a coffee shop suggested by a local person that we sat next to at dinner in Cashel. We just started our holiday in Ireland and after meeting Seanie we feel our trip is complete.
