Dr. Richard I. Horowitz at NorVect 2014: Why Can´t I Get Better? Using the Lyme-MSIDS Map
The vast majority of patients coming to see Dr. Horowitz have remained ill for long periods of time because of lack of awareness of the clinical presentation of Lyme disease and associated tick-borne co-infections, as well as not addressing overlapping medical factors that are responsible for ongoing symptoms. Patients with chronic symptoms after classical treatment for Lyme disease have multifactorial causes for their illness. Dr. Horowitz calls this syndrome Lyme-MSIDS. MSIDS stands for Multiple Systemic Infectious Disease Syndrome, and represents sixteen potential overlapping medical problems contributing to persistent symptoms in the Lyme patient. The first point on the MSIDS map is infections. Ticks are now containing multiple bacterial, viral and parasitic infections which can be transmitted simultaneously with Borrelia burgdorferi, the agent of Lyme disease. Patients infected with Lyme disease and associated co-infections are much sicker and resistant to standard therapies. Patients with Lyme-MSIDS also have evidence of associated immune dysfunction, inflammation, environmental toxins and heavy metal burdens, detoxification problems, nutritional deficiencies, hormonal abnormalities, sleep disorders, mitochondrial dysfunction, food allergies and sensitivities, deconditioning and imbalances in their autonomic nervous system. All of these factors can keep the patient chronically ill. There is a commonly held belief in medicine, called Pasteur’s postulate that there is “one cause for one illness”. This does not apply to patients with chronic Lyme symptoms. The term “chronic Lyme disease” needs to be redefined as Lyme-MSIDS to more accurately reflect the multiple underlying etiologies responsible for persistent symptoms. A diagnostic and treatment model for Lyme-MSIDS will be therefore be presented as a 16 point map, so that health care providers have a broad understanding of how to approach and treat these patients with complex presentations who have failed classical therapies.

The lecture addresses various mechanisms associated with Borrelia infection that may help this bacteria to survive adverse environmental conditions, immune response and even therapeutic interventions. Borrelia species are known pleomorphic pathogens and they are able to adopt alternative, defensive morphologies to evade the immune response and even to increase their antibiotic resistance. One o...

What he is explaining is so simple. Early infection that is not widely disseminated and not in different forms throughout the body often doesn't need long term treatment. Whereas infections that have grown for months or years in the human body, have disseminated throughout many tissues and have reverted to different forms, require longer term treatment targeted at multiple forms. This is very little beyond what one would deduce from common sense. Yet over 40 years of research on a disease and this is somehow a novel theory. Absolutely pathetic.

å DEALING WITH LYME DISEASE I've had Lyme Disease for several years. It was just recently diagnosed because I was developing Candida, a co-infection of Lyme. I'd been tested for Lyme several times over the past five years - always negative. Then I found that the US test is based on a sample from one Tick. Brilliant! The Europeans had the sense to use samples from several Ticks and Humans. They get many more positives. One day last Summer, my GP sent me a letter saying that I had Lyme Disease. He had deduced from my behavior and the white fungal like co-infection that I might have Lyme. This test he did came up positive. He had added the Lyme test to another series of tests he was doing on me. He sent me a script for Amoxicillan. I’m reluctant to overuse antibiotics, so the script went into a drawer. Now I began a serious investigation of Lyme Disease and what natural cures might be available. One of the first sites I found on UA-cam, mentioned the Stevia Plant. There was even a recipe on how to make a tincture of Stevia with Vodka, which I promptly did. I used Grey Goose Vodka because I deserve the best, however for those of you on a budget… any rotgut will do, I suppose. The only thing missing was dosage instruction, so I took a wild guess at 30 drops three times a day. I used my tincture for a few weeks with very little success. My knees were still swollen and very painful, and my wrists, shoulders and elbows ached. Over the past two years, for some reason I had gained about 25 pounds without changing anything. I later found out that this is a symptom of Lyme Disease. The more I looked, the more I found, however it was bits and pieces here and there. One site said the Lyme spirochetes liked to hide, and the only time they can be found and attacked is on moving day in the blood stream. Still not much luck with the Stevia, though I found that it was now available on Amazon.com though they were, at the time, not allowed to advertise the Stevia tinctures as being effective against Lyme. It’s available in alcoholic and non alcoholic forms however alcoholic tinctures are almost always better. The brand I like best is, “Secrets Of The Tribe.” The final breakthrough was the discovery that the Lyme spirochetes and borrelia liked to hide behind a biofilm. Something new to find out about! Biofilms can form on anything. In the human body they can grow quite large and thick, and they are almost completely impenetrable. The best information came from a plumbing supply company. They stated that biofilms can get as hard as glass and are difficult to remove. I found that the two best things to break the biofilm blockage are Oil of Oregano I almost OD’d, (just kidding,) but it takes getting used to. An Indian herb called Neem is also effective. I’m using both. When I checked the toilet there was what looked like broken glass in my stool. One piece was quite large. Something to think about. I did get a bowel blockage and for a few days was taking a lot of Oil of Oregano and Neem. One more thing. The dead spirochetes and borrellia stay in the blood stream, so I take four or five Activated Charcoal capsules every three days to prevent a Herxheimer reaction. Herxing is very unpleasant. Now the Stevia tincture and another one called Teasel are working well. The pain in my joints was gone in a month and I’ve lost ten pounds. It all comes down to using the right recipe. I forget which tests I took but they've all come up negative and are expensive, so my Doc just started treating for Babesia and I'm getting better. My Doc is an Angel.

First of all thank you so much for all your videos, they really are a godsend to us Lyme patients. I truly have the deepest respect for Dr. Joseph Burrascano. He is extremely brave and selfless, tirelessly working to help the sick while corrupt individuals backed by the gouvernent hunt him. They have battled him in court, tried to take his licence and have tried to scare him using any method possible. This is because they have been payed out by insurance companies who want to spread doubt about this illness and inhibit diagnose (since they don't want to pay for treatment). Despite all this Joseph has put everything he has on the line (including his career) to research Lyme and provide guidelines and tools to help us. This is because he cares about helping patients more than anything.THANK YOU DO MUCH;)

The mistake people are making is trying to treat the infections. Lyme shuts off the immune system to survive . Turning the immune system back on to remove infections is not that difficult. nbprotocol.proboards.com/thread/229/simple
