Pond Cleaning 🐟🐟🐟
Переглядів 216Місяць тому
Every year we had problems with the pond water going completely green in the spring sunlight. After trying various enzymes, barley straw and different pre filters we decided to build our own biological filter. We still have a pre filter on the pump which stops small creatures being sucked through, we wash this out every week or so but that on it's own didn't stop the algal bloom.
Fairy Rings 🧚♀️🧚♀️🧚♀️

Fairy Rings are very mysterious, some say if you follow the fairies that dance in them you'll dance until you drop down dead. But if you just step into one you'll become invisible 😮

Oh Ziggy I have been talking about this on a couple of other websites! It is my ‘hobbyhorse’ I’m sure I’ve bored you & your subscribers too- suffice to say these oldest living trees ( older than the Giant Redwood) are not protected in law & no government will pass legislation to protect them. Talk about Ragwort- these are very very poisonous too but like many other toxic plants yield new pharmaceutical remedies for the dwindling entries in our Pharmocopoeia
Just found your comment Diana, youtube hid it from view 🙄 I agree, lovely old trees, possibly 5,000 years old. Hard to date as the middle rots out making dendro hard to do. We covered ancient trees at college under Ted Green (he's still going!)
I remember you talking about Ted Green! I don’t t know if dating trees is an exact science but I’ve seen speculation that the age is underestimated.😯 I don’t understand the reluctance by government to pass legislation. It doesn’t seem to be on their agenda. Don’t worry re replying- think UA-cam playing up again.😄 Hope your COVID type virus infection better & you’ve shaken it off. Thanks!
@@dianarolph1770 Feeling better ta Diana 😊 We have more ancient trees in England than they have on the whole of the continent, they burn all theirs every time they want to riot about something 🙄
@@ziggyscoastandcountryside3773 Yes that’s true!!😄
Awesome 😮
Cheers Danny 🙂 Do you know anything about the grave that's had a surname removed? Right next to the church door 😬
No
@@dannyryan5707 I'll take a pic of it next time we go there, looks like Dad cut his daughter's surname off the grave 😬
A hamlet with a school is so unusual! I can imagine the place a bit better. Thanks Ziggy!
Years since I smoked a Hamlet 😁 You can occasionally hear the school in the background of the videos, you notice it when they're not there. Ta for having a look Diana 😊😊🌿🌿
Football s coming home
I think it took the wrong turn on the way 😬😬🌿🌿
We let ragwort flower in our garden. Its very mildly poisonous to humans and animals and would need to be consumed in huge quantities to have any effect. Its fine to touch. A lot of misinformation. There is a helpful website on ragwort. Importantly its the only foodsource for cinnibar moths and its deep tap root makes it a useful mineral accumulator. I wouldnt plant it if you dont have it... but there are far more poisonous dangerous plants
Yep, I can think of quite a few good ones, trouble with Ragwort is that it's cumulative, the friend of Mrs Zigs who used to pull it by hand did so over several years. Thanks for having a look 🙂
Ohhh! I knew cattle & horses must not eat it! It was in the front gdn 2 yrs ago & I recognised it was maybe ragwort so looked it up! ‘Fraid I pulled it out by hand!! Then last yr it came up again & I pulled it out by hand! Must go & take a look - I haven’t noticed it this year- the leaves are so recognisable- I WILL wear gloves if there!!! Thanks for informative video Zigs!
Just looked in the front where I had spotted it 2 yrs running- hopefully it’s gone! Couldn’t see it!
@@dianarolph1770 I just looked it up and it's a perenial so it must have got pulled out or it'd still be there 😮 Ta for having a look Diana 😊😊🌿🌿
@@ZiggySearchfieldCactus Thanks for looking it up!
WOW I knew Ragwort was a bad one but I didn't realise how bad it was, thanks so much for letting us know about this toxic plant Ziggy, and sending you and beautiful Jackie lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER from Hans and me for a fantastic Tuesday XXXX <3
It'll kill you to death if you're not careful Lyn 😮 Ta for having a look, hope you and Hans have a lovely evening 😊😊🌿🌿
😮😮😮😮
This is true Danny 😬😬😬😬 Ta for having a look 😁😁🌿🌿
I knew it was bad for horses, but nothing else about it. Thanks for sharing this 👍🏻
It's bad for most things Cara 😬 Make sure you don't touch it when you're out and about. Ta for having a look 😊😊🌿🌿
Vipers Bugloss.. a lovely flower and it seems to be getting more common 💠🌸!
I'll save you some seed too Alan 🙂
Think of all the living creatures making use of this untouched field! I have only ever seen Viper’s Bugloss in photos so seeing it flourishing is beautiful- thanks Ziggy!
There was a bloomin great rabbit in it earlier 😬 Butterflies are a bit behind this year, only seen a couple. I'll save you some seeds 🙂
Thanks Ziggy- no bunnies round these parts! But loads just down the road where there is sand- ( gets exported to the M.E.!!!!)
@@dianarolph1770 They seem to be living under the lock up, we're moving that soon 😮 Blimey, wonder if they'd like to buy some camels too 😁
There used to be jokes going round re sand and Arabs etc but you never hear them now!🐫🐪 Every now & then film units go to the sand pits. Tom Cruise was there filming the last one of the Mission Impossible series!
@@dianarolph1770 Was he now 😎 I'm thinking about selling Leeks to the Welsh 😁
Yum 😊
Cheers Danny 😁 Picked another box today 🙂
The ants & the blackbirds used to get my strawbs!
Found a few ants today but Mr Blackbird can't get in the netted tunnel. Left the door open last spring to let things in to pollinate but a pheasant built a nest in there 🙄
The goldfish must be loving their new environment! Honestly like Danny I am in awe of your cleverness! Well done Zigs!
It's good to be able to see them again, bit of a worry when they're swimming in soup 😬 Tee hee, ta Diana 😊😊🐟🐟
I gave yr reply a thumbs up but got a message come up saying it couldn’t be done!🙁👍👍👍👍👍
Tried again- it worked!

Cheers Danny 🙂 Mum was talking to them again this afternoon so it worked 😊😊🐟🐟
Whether you vanish or not depends on what trip you've signed up for....😮
Tee hee 😁 Ta for having a look Alan 😁
haha 'Beam me up Scottie' comes to mind when thinking of standing in the middle of a fairy ring, there used to be some of these in the field opposite my house when I was a child, and as a kid me and my friends used to love to stand in them and imagine us de materializing into another dimension and time, thanks so much for sharing the mystery with us Ziggy and sending you and beautiful Jackie lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER from Hans and me for a fantastic Friday XXXX <3
Excellent Lyn 😎 Blimey, is that how you ended up in Ireland? 😮😁 Ta for having a look, hope you and Hans have a lovely evening 😊😊🌵🌵

Wow 😮
Can't wait for the mushrooms to start growing out of it Cara 🙂🙂🧚♀🧚♀
@@ziggyscoastandcountryside3773 oh that would good. Although I have never gotten to the fairy rings at the right time to see the mushrooms growing 😢
@@openmindedwonderer I keep missing these ones too, a few odd ones came up last week but not in the ring 😯
Wow 😮amazing
I know where to hide from Mum now Danny 😁😁🧚♀🧚♀
Not heard that one before! 😯🧚♂️
Some say they indicate where Fairy towns are too 😬
haha with these two lovebirds, so cute and it looks like they have had a little fall out afterwards haha, thanks so much for sharing the Pigeon love with us Ziggy, and Hans and I are sending you and beautiful Jackie lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a terrific Thursday XXXX <3
They were very enthusiastic to start with Lyn 😁 Ta for having a look, hope you and Hans have a lovely evening 😊😊🦆🦆
Blink & you’ll miss it!😄
I think that's what she was trying to tell him 😬
😮
Agreed 😮
Found it 2 photos on Community page!!😁👍
Yep, I did a short vid to put on our gardening forum 😁
Am I hallucinating but I thought this or something similar was posted recently & I left a comment. Maybe it was another unusual tree?
So cool 😎
Cheers Danny 😊😊🪴🪴
We did see it here! I’ve seen it before in the South. I wouldn’t pay for a cruise on the off chance you would catch a glimpse. As I think it does occur quite a fair bit South. Just have to have a clear night with no cloud & know what you’re looking for!!
Cor 🙂 No chance tonight, total cloud and rain here now 😬
Oh must look at the weather map as we only had rain in the night. Dry today but same old grey skies here.
Oh WOWSERS Ziggy :-D AWESOME photos of the stunning Northern lights, our friend Aaron was able to catch them and took some photos but Hans and I didn't get to see them, thanks so much for sharing with us Ziggy, and Hans and I are sending you and beautiful Jackie lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a fantastic sunny new week XXXX <3
Ta for having a look Lyn 🙂 Just checked the solarham website, another possible flare coming Earth direction 😬 Hope you and Hans have a lovely evening 😊😊🌏🌏
Sadly we didn’t get them but luckily lots of people posted ❤❤
Us neither, but we kept looking just in case. My Dad saw them in the South of England when he was a boy so sometime in the 1930's I guess 😬 Ta for having a look 😊😊🌏🌏
