Приєднався 29 вер 2023
My intent with this channel is to develop an online community of artists, art collectors, art buyers, art teachers, art students, interior decorators, and anyone else interested in how art is created.
I paint a lot of greeting cards simply because I enjoy giving them away. I am hoping I will find an audience of those who simply appreciate art and the creation of art.
So that brings us to this channel. My real name, and the name I use when I sign my art, is Larry Whitler. But I call this channel Poppa Paints because I am now a grandpa and my grandson calls me Poppa. In fact, a LOT of people now call me Poppa. Go figure!
To sum it up, being an artist is more than just creating beautiful paintings-it's about spreading a little bit of joy and gratitude to the world around us. Through my artwork, I hope to capture the essence of nature's wonders and express appreciation for the unsung heroes who make a difference every day.

Paintings That Sell - Painting a Florida Sunrise On A Greeting Card
Переглядів 25614 днів тому
#watercolorpainting #howtopaint #watercolorart Beach paintings sell. That is the takeaway from today's video. I love to paint for the joy of painting (thank you, Bob Ross). But sometimes it just makes sense to paint something that sells (you know, for things like food, rent, art supplies). And the best part about this very lucrative topic? Beach paintings are EASY! So, in today's video, I demon...
Actually birds do have hairs 😉
Outstanding!
Very cool. Love listening to you too. ❤
The painting is awesome!!❤
My name sake. Had an incredible dream of the Bald Eagle and also had wonderful holidays in the Okovongo Swamps watching fish eagles (so magestic) dive down into the Delta River to catch their dinner. The sound they make is forever branded in my soul Would love to see you paint the Rising of a Phoenix in real time??.
Love this painting. Amazing your use of water. I especially watched this because of the greens. As a new watercolorist, my greens are ALWAYS too chartreuse. Thank you for sharing this wonderful painting ❤
Looks so peaceful❤
If problem.
I love this painting so much❤ I wish I could walk there😊
the green is nice
Another beautiful painting in the books. I love how varied your subject matter is……so glad I happened upon your channel.
Absolutely 💯 gorgeous ❤
The eagle looks beautiful❤
Have you had success with your pixels store and do you recommend this platform? Thanks
Thank you for writing. The short answer is “yes and no.” “Yes” because I make sales (90% from the greeting cards). My strategy is to promote, promote, and promote. I tell anyone and everyone. My thinking is that other similar platforms might be equally successful if I promoted my work on those platforms. “No” because by MOST people’s standards, I don’t make enough money to fully support myself. But, from what I hear, some people really make a lot of money on Pixels. I’m just not one of them! I do recommend Pixels/Fine Art America. The cards and the larger prints I have purchased from them are beautiful.
Thank you!!
Gorgeous!!!!
Love your channel so much. As well as enjoying the painting I so enjoy listening to your musings and poetry. Thank you 🙏❤️
Thank you so much!
You have such a relaxing voice and mien that encourage to pick up a brush and paint thank you
😊 thank you
Thank you for this video! I enjoyed it so much❤
You can put your address in your description area on your banner.
Beautiful!!!
Hi! I save every video you make. I love your paintings. I wish more people would watch.
Thank you so much!
you do a mighty painting!
How long have you been painting? Do you ever use any other mediums? Watercolor is my favorite but I enjoy acrylic as well. I purchased the strathmore watercolor cards & they are lovely to paint on! Thanks for your soft voice & your obvious love of our Lord & savior 🥰
Thank you for writing. I've been painting and drawing for as long as I can remember. I have shifted over the years in my dominant medium. I went through a pastel stage, an acrylic stage, an oil stage, a pencil stage, a colored pencil stage, and, most recently, a watercolor stage. I also do a lot of digital art (not to be confused with AI). The digital art is mostly for illustrations for publications (children's books, editorials, instructional material, etc.). I gravitated to the watercolor and gouache paintings on the greeting cards for the Poppa Paints videos because the small painted area (7" x 5") can be finished rather quickly (usually). Thank you for your kind words and, most importantly, have fun painting!
Beautiful❤
This is so so so beautiful!!❤ I love the look you get with a flat brush!! My flat brush splits, but I'm inspired now to find a good one. 😊
Nice
Hey wait! I'm still working on the coffee cup picture! 😊
LOL!
Jeanette, wait for me. I'm still on the pink bicycle trying to get the cuppa coffee.
@360eagleeye4 That's cute! Seriously, I try to do my art every day, but I study different compositions and angles... takes time... can't keep up with Poppa!
Absolutely love this. I love you "don't know what you doing" It always turns out that you do know what you doing. Your spontaneous mind onto paper is rather genius. Thank you and have an abundant day.
Thank you for your kind words. I really don't know what I'm doing. I think I am one big "happy accident"!
If I can help: My immediate question is what is that dark matter above the skirt? But then after seeing the reference photo, I as an artist and critique, would take the liberty to lighten that spot as a part of the skirt, to tie the painting together. The dark spot draws too much attention that can’t be resolved by the naked eye. God bless your fine work.
Thank you for the critique! Yes, I see what you mean. Thank you for the pointers.
Thank you poppa for this lovely video .I love watching you paint and tell stories.Every day when I see there is a new video I feel glad.Thank you for that. And the painting is really beautiful❤
Thank you so much 😀
So I'm not the only one who quotes Will Robinson.🥰
LOL
Enjoyed painting this one! Thanks for the inspiration!
What did you use for your reference? Born February 1954 , I relate to your stories & had to laugh out loud about the chocolate covered coffee (espresso) beans. I too was a huge fan back in the 90s & you transported me to a very happy place!🥰
The reference photo is from the site called Unsplash.
Beautiful 🙏❤️
That teappt is gorgeous ❤❤❤
I've not been to Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park but their website has a lot of tour options. I was in Tucson last fall and want to do watercolors of the mountains I photographed and this video gives me hope I will be able to do them justice. Thank you.
Oh yes. We think alike. I would love to do some plein air painting out there. One day, maybe!
Love this! Thank you 🙏
100% !! Great reflection. This is how I know....when I clicked on your channel I instantly saw a reflective teapot. How.does that saying go? The sum of its parts. Try squinting.😉💞
I know what you are saying. I didn't see it at first. Then, when I walked away and came back to it I could see it. I wonder why that happens?!
I found your channel recently. I have to say I love your watercolor paintings, but I also love your calming voice and your stories. It makes me feel nostalgic keep up with the stories.
Thank you so much!
I love it!
Really beautiful. That was amazing and AI described it perfectly. Kinda scary.
So beautiful! I am glad I found your channel!
Steve Michell. Mind of Watercolor!
Thank you. Steve is really great!
Love it!!
Thank you! I took so many screenshots!
Thank you for writing. I'm so glad you were able to get some screenshots that you might use for your artwork.
I love your work and you totally captured drinking coffee outdoors....somehow, I always think it tastes best in the early morning outdoors. Thank you for sharing.....it's beautiful.
Awesome! Thank you!
Every first cup in the morning is the best cup - lovely sunrise picture
Very nice painting❤
Comforting theme... well done. I'm amazed at all your different subjects! 🎉
This is my all time favorite! Evokes so many memories camping on Lake George in NY.
