Yamaha YZ450F - Radiator Flush (2008)
Переглядів 9 тис.Рік тому
Today I will show you guys how to drain, flush and refill the radiator on a Yamaha YZ450F (2008). All you need is an 8mm socket, new radiator coolant, and a bucket. The 2008 model year is generation 4 so it is the exact same for 2006 - 2009 models. Probably very similar for newer / older models too and honestly also probably similar for most MX racing type dirt bikes. Hope you enjoy and learned!

Thanks again guys.

Yamaha V Star 1100 - Exhaust Mod (Baffle Removal)
Переглядів 26 тис.Рік тому
We will be attempting to removal the baffles out of the stock exhaust pipes on a 2009 Yamaha V-Star 1100 (XVS1100). As we find out later, it seems that for this particular year/model they have added some sort of flange or mechanism that prevents people from doing this type of modification to their bikes. Will make a new video for any update on my end. Thank you guys for watching :)

what do you need is needle nose ice grips and nice pair of 10 inch ones and you could've gotten all that crud out of the pipe
VICE not ice!!!
Just talked me out of doing this.. 😅
Nice man hope all is well. We are doing the opposite of you!- seattle to Tucson! (Work/school). I know this is a year later but I appreciated watching this from your perspective. Cheers
Thanks for the video. Where did you buy the filter and what kind is it?
Dude. I would have spraid the chain under the bike, just infront on the rear wheel. So you dont mess up the rear rotor and break
@@itsmers good point. I’ll do this for the future. Thanks for the tip.
Great video!
First
Just bought an 07 for 300 had to replace clutch. Waiting for gasket sealer to dry 24 hours. Baffles are out, has a easy access oil filter kit.. what mods can I get for it to make it faster.. is it fast enough to be exciting?
@@robertkennedy1666 if it’s a 1100 like I had it will be plenty fast. Could cruise at 90+ mph easily
Sounds like shite and what a terrible job

Does the filter need to be oiled?
@@bogdan1887 no it’s not necessary to oil or lubricate the air filter. If you would you could put a tiny bit but again, not necessary
I bet it's stupid loud now.
Thanks
Nice!! Good cacth on the direction.
you left the screw on tip on.
Nice job. Thank you.
Thanks for the vid. Beautiful bike
This guy is serious about SafTy.
Someone call the cops
Is he wearing lady shorts?
Damn his gf is busted
What shoud the spark look like
Can you please recommend some places to stay for summer internship? Thank you!
Sure. I personally stayed at Sidney Apartments in Belltown. They offered 3 month leases for a bit more per month.
that's an awesome tool set.
All good I just bought an 2009
killsswitch is not the best way to stop the engine ...
Care to elaborate?
If that filter cleaner and oil doesn’t specifically state “for foam filters” I wouldn’t use it. Cleaners not designed for foam can disintegrate the foam and eat the seam glue. Also K&N is pure trash in the off-road world. You couldn’t pay me to run it again.
Actually
Damaged exhaust. Just buy a couple of tips and leave the stock- and irreplaceable- the way it was designed.
HACK
😃👍👋
change your jets watch for bluing in your pipes best to purchase an exhaust system to satisfy your what it is you are looking for
someone has some experience with a Royal Star 1300 96 ? It has 4 exhausts. Does it work the same? Hole saw, drill it out and pull the baffles out? Thank you guys
Thank you so much!
What about the overflow bottle under the seat?
Nice video Bill. Clear explanation and footage.
Thanks dad :)
clear and easy to follow, thank you. You mentioned there were performance issues you had with the old one. What were the issues and did changing out the filter help?
No problem I appreciate the kind words. As for the performance issues, turns out that my carburetor filter was clogged (the tiny filter letting gas into the carb). I bought a carb clean kit and replaced it and this cleaned the bikes bogging issues up right away. I think that changing the main fuel filter was good to do tho as it was very old.
@@billh1337 awesome, glad you got it figured out. I'm having similar issues so I'll move on to the carburetor next after the fuel filter. Thanks again!
I think that motor was mssing
haha what do you mean?? Not loud enough for ya? Lol
Can't locate the fuel filter on the 2008 vstar 1300. Anyone know if it exists?
You have to remove them by taking the exhaust off they come out towards the front of the exhaust it’s not like a Harley where you can just pull them out
Hack job , dont do this
Yea it does look that way a bit. But hey I tried my luck didnt pan out tho. Learned a lesson lol
Hit it with your purse 😂jfwy
😆 lol ill keep that one in mind for next time
Did you split the pipe and knock them out or wack the tip of the pipe
If you cut the tips make sure you angle cut it \ …\ that way it looks good not a straight chop I’m sure I’ll be uploading this clapped vstar 650 custom I’m be doing into a bar hopper style chopper and I’ll be buying someone’s stock 1100 pipes bc these pipes on it now are aftermarket China garbage tiny pipes and have a heat shield on them to make it appear there fat pipes sounds like a 50cc dirtbike on steroids and that ain’t going to cut it
Lmao the man just learned the snap transition I'm dead
🤣 hey man what can i say i am behind the times i guess lol
To each his on. I'm 64 yrs. old and been riding many different bikes since I was a small boy. I just bought a 2008 Yamaha 1100 v star with stock exhaust. I love it. Quiet and smooth. That's the way I like it. To old for the noise anymore.
I totally get that and understand it. Each his own. It is a nice ride for sure hope you enjoy her.
I removed mine. Same year bike, same motor, same color! Yes, if you adjust the fuel mixture a little, it will be fine. All the bikes, that I have owned, I remove the baffles. No problems.
Really? You didnt have issues like mine how they are loose in there but stuck with some kind of flange holding them in? Good to hear it went well with yours. Are you in a different country perhaps where they might have built them slightly differently??
@@billh1337 if your bike is from California it has a different muffler with catalytic converter systems in them
@@ethanh1701 It may very well have been. I am in Arizona so only one state away. Being the third owner could be likely.
@@billh1337 well that right there is a damn good observation by me😂 it probably is. If you haven’t gotten them out already I would suggest just getting new aftermarket pipes. The layout of those mufflers is way different than the usual and causes issues with removing that baffle
When you remove the rearmost baffle you don't change much. Of course the result is somewhat less backpressure but it's not going to ruin the engine if the carburetor is tuned accordingly. If one puts on a set of eg. Cobra pipes the backpressure changes a lot more drastically compared to this modification, hence the jet kit Cobra also sells. If you experience symptoms like backfiring during engine braking or slight hesitation at low throttle adjust your pilot mixture screws on the carbs. Usually 1/4-1/2 turn counterclockwise will richen the mixture to compensate for this. For more info Google "Vstar Knowledge Base" and look for Carb jetting in the Tuning menu for detailed, model specific explanation and additonal tips.
Thanks for the info. Good to know how to properly tune your carb for sure.
How did you get them to come out all the way?
This year model is a B. But I was going to have to cut the center of the exhaust and was going to have to look inside and see if you could either bend the metal flanges flat or remove it from the other end. After that weld back the cut open metal. I never got the chance too as someone had seen the bike and offered money as she was so I took it.
How did you end up getting them out? I see in your newer videos you still have the stock exhaust, I'm trying to do mine and have them half way out like you do here.
Hey so I ended up selling the bike before I could do anything to it. But I was going to have to cut the center of the exhaust and was going to have to look inside and see if you could either bend the metal flanges flat or remove it from the other end. After that weld back the cut open metal. Really bad design on the newer year models. I wish it was easy as all the older models.
