A look back at the computers, consoles and gadgets from my childhood and youth. I'm looking to recreate the unboxing and setup experience as closely as possible. From my first Commodore 64 - right up to Xbox One X I have always had an unhealthy interest in all things computer, console and gadget!
I will be trying my best to track down all of the wonderful gaming devices that I have previously owned. Where possible I will be looking for 'sealed box' examples, closely followed by 'mint in box with all packaging'.

I decided to update this freshly activated iPhone 4 to the latest available version of IOS 7.1.1 (I'd hoped that Airdrop would be available post update) in order to be able to transfer the photos and videos off of the device. It does now make me wonder if Onedrive would have worked on 5.1.1 though 😬🫣

I managed to get this thing cleaned up nicely! The monitor is actually immaculate 'as new'. It turns on and off and loads games reliably, so I'm very happy with it!

Sorry it's been so long for this update.... I shot this months ago, but started a new job and haven't had the time to revisit this. I upgrade the CPU's to 2 x Xeon X590's - £65 from ebay...... While I was at it, I swapped the GPU and NVME Card around - this works better but you only have access to 3 card slots now.... as the GPU blocks the lower x4 Slot. Hey ho. I dropped Monterey and Opencore ...

I seem to make upgrading the storage in this Mac Pro 5,1 far more complicated than it needs to be! I think I got there in the end!

Yes. Yes it can! Now that I have finished the refurb of this £60 iMac its time to put it to the test... no benchmarks, just real work usage... Obviously its no longer a '£60' iMac, as The SSD was £19, and the ram £20 - so it should really be known as the £99 iMac... However..... This is the £60 Slim iMac that i picked up the other week.... It's not quite 'triggers broom' but I have replace the old HDD with an SSD, I upgraded the 8GB of Ram to 16GB, and replace the manky old damaged stand... I've also fully updated to MacOS Catalina. The trouble is that it Catalina won't allow you to run the latest software. My next plan is to update it to Monterey, or possibly Ventura ...

This 2011 iMac is still very useable in 2022. I could happily do 90% of my daily on it. With the SSD and Ram upgrades It runs and edits 4k on FCP (although take a while to render/export). A testament to Apple build quality! Its a shame that the latest MacOs is not supported, however I am considering installing Monterey via the unofficial method!
