GlencairnAbbey
Приєднався 28 лип 2011
St Mary's Abbey, Glencairn is the only Cistercian monastery for women in Ireland. Our monastery is located in the Blackwater Valley, about 3 miles upstream from Lismore, County Waterford.
At the heart of the monastic life is the search for God; here at Glencairn, we seek God and follow Christ in a life of prayer and community, solitude and simplicity, work and hospitality.
We follow the Rule of St Benedict, an ancient source of monastic wisdom that continues to guide many people in search of an authentic spiritual path in today's world.

SCHOOL OF LOVE - RTE - Would You Believe
The Cistercian Sisters of St Mary's Abbey, Glencairn, Co Waterford, in Ireland live an austere life based on the Rule of St Benedict, which has barely changed in over 1000 years. Rooted in community, work, prayer and silence, some may see it as a retreat from the world, but the nuns themselves believe this is the best contribution they can make to that world, and the best way for them to get close to God. Over the course of a year, they gave RTÉ's religious documentary series Would You Believe? unique access to film their way of life. This is the resulting film.

An investigation by U.S. television producer Phil O'Connor into the decline of the Irish Church brought him, together with the Religion and Ethics team and camera crew to Ireland in late May of this year where they made a further television feature on contemporary monastic life as lived here at St Mary's Abbey. Originally broadcast in the U.S. Sunday a.m. 24 July 2011on PBS television on Religi...

I think St. Bernard would be very happy with this Abbey. I am sure God is happy.
Are there any monasteries in Ireland where only Irish is spoken?
Not pee. CLEAN PEE. By the boatload -Ey Peter😂
I thought for concern. Why do I persist? Because God knows your heart and gives me directive and I folllow. Never to our peril. That's the point. We don't have to perish
Remembered his name too. Always was asking about Him. Silly me
You asked me where my husband at? Standing in the Sanctuary. You know
Please pray for my partner and myself that we get drug free thank you forgive are sins aman❤
Great film and beautiful sisters. Their lives praise God. But modern church interior very discouraging and disappointing. After I entered the church I knew I wouldn't be back to this place.
WHAT MASS sister participate at? TRIDENTINE or Novus Ordo?
Notice the locations of the altar and you will know...
I 've been to Glencairn: now in Australia.May God bless you all and increase OUR FAITH.

Rule of St Benedict Ch 7 Humility 62. (Of the monk), Whether he sits, walks or stands, his head must be bowed and his eyes cast down.
I have tears to see the sister in the coffin. RIP sister. ❤❤❤❤❤
If it hasn’t changed, wouldn’t there be more Latin?
What an inspirational story as a 84 yr. Meath resident. Thanks so much.

So touched by this life It is a blessing, to watch, share, feeling our One Heart. I bow to that 🧎♀️🕯🕊🌹🙏
Amen🙏🏻❤️
I love the Irish accent, my ancestors are from County Sligo
My name is Treasa Veigas. I would love to be a part of this Community. I am a retired Educationist. I live in India.
❤
How utterly beautiful. I wonder if they would take someone who has lived a sinful life😢
The peace and solitude of cloistered life certainly has an appeal. Remaining in one place and not being able to attend occasions outside the convent would be tough though.
I really admire the resilience of this ordinary women who have devoted their lives to praying for this suffering and sinful world
Beautiful and brave sister. Resilient indeed. This documentary moves my heart ❤thank you for it.
I think it is a real shame that orders do not except older people. We have survived the world somehow. Now we want to give our lives fully to Jesus and we come with our own medical our own retirement, so we would not be a burden financially, and could be a much needed prayer warrior for this difficult world we live in today. 65-year-old people are not too old to pray or to work, or to give to religious order. I pray the rules change so others will have an opportunity to give their lives to Jesus.

If only I could find such faith. Very genuine good people
I was taught 8 years, age 5 through 11 at an elementary school in Louisiana,USA, taught by Irish NUNS. The most amazing educated and spiritually wise women I ever knew. I thought the whole world would be so educated, speak English in this perfect manner, and I have weathered the storms and temptations of Satan and his minions and have survived until today, my 77TH birthday, and love GOD EVER MORE. I only sometimes wish I’d stayed in the monastery later in life, but three years was a great gift in my life.
Matthew 6:5-6 'And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly, I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, Who is unseen.'

Where did this idea come from? Why we don't see a nun in the Bible?
Dear Sisters, Could you please help me, I’m trying to get Thr Rosary recited by Irish nuns. I used to love it when the Presentation nuns did this and now most of them have passed away. I loved the Irish brogue thank you 🙏🏼
Many dream of this, very few do it. Love and respects from me, may God bless and keep us.
