As a Russian, I can clarify, that in Russia, people don’t often smile and talk a little downhearted, but don’t misinterpret that, that is normal there and is considered normal. Some may sound like they’re depressed but that’s actually not true at all, that’s how they talk there. Of course it depends on the people.

Most students also work (multiple jobs) or at least participate in other activities besides studying all day. Also, American college sizes vary vastly, and even in big schools people still develop a group of friends or cliques, especially if they live on campus. She’s obviously rich, so I don’t think her college experience was at all close to the average Americans
