Plein Airpril Vlog | Day 3
Hola! Happy to share another painting vlog with you. I was unable to get outside for a couple days, so I had to rely on photos which makes this one not ACTUALLY plein air. But I'm doing this plein airpril challenge for the sake of painting consistency - so it's fine. Till next time :)

Plein Airpril Vlog | Day 2
Переглядів 4924 місяці тому
We made it to Day 2 of Plein Airpril and I managed to avoid the ants this afternoon. Florida has some SERIOUS ants. Today I used a combination of gouache and watercolor, and it took me around 35 minutes. I don't have much time after work before it gets dark.. so I would imagine 30-40 minute plein air paintings will be the average. Hope you enjoy! You can find me other places ✨ www.artbyowl.com/...

I find if u fold your paper, drag a damp/wet sponge along the edge of both sides then tear marks for a nice smoother tear. 😊

Why does min tear straight? Hmm. It’s watercolour paper.

Are you tearing a thin paper? I noticed if I tear a thinner paper with this method, it has less of a jagged edge. You'll likely get more uneven edges with Bristol or Watercolor paper. Also tearing really slow helps a little too.

Wow, this was by fast the best explanation of painting the ocean. I really cannot understand why so less people have seen this video. For me it took almost a month until UA-cam suggested it although I watch gouache videos almost all the time. I hope you keep on going with your tutorials despite the low figures. It must be the algorithm…, I don’t understand it. It seems strange for me. I assume you need a lot of patience… I loved this tutorial. And now I will see if you did some more. I pray you did. Thank you very very much and many greetings from Europe 💕

I absolutely love your art! Liked and subbed! I grew up in CT, the Cromwell/Middletown area. I miss it so, so much. Also, pro-tip - when removing your tape, use a heating tool or hair dryer. It won't mess with the gouache and the heat makes the sticky stuff on the tape much less sticky. Since doing this I haven't torn a single page. Good luck!!!

    • @BleesArt

You're so sweet, thank you!!! That's cool that you grew up in CT too, small world! I miss CT sometimes as well, we just moved to Florida last winter, and still getting used to the weather. And yes you're totally right - usually heat works for me when I take off the tape but I was impatient and made silly mistakes 😅 Thankfully it's just a sketchbook!
