    For the descent going past Lluc and into Pollenca is way nicer. Of course it depends on where your Homebase is but starting from and going back to Alcudia this is the way to go 😊.

      I guess it’s all personal preference right, I live on the Santa Maria side so I often do a loop that heads along the side of the mountain and ride up and climb up from Pollença. It’s a long and cool decent but not a crazy amount of variety, just speed is the top factor. Those beautiful switch backs before Caimari are 👌

    • @Pedallingthroughlife
      @Pedallingthroughlife 2 місяці тому

      No problem. The climb itself is 10.1km long. You start along the MA 10 and you climb up to the descent. and then go back on yourself to climb Sa Calobra itself and finish at the sign as you see in the video. Its about a 60km ride from Palma and 50km from the other side of the island by Port de Pollença. I suggest you go out early doors as tour buses are allowed from 10:30am and they spoil the experience. Its better to have descended by before 10am. Advice as your a first time rider of it, dont underestimate the corners, it claims many victims of crashes due to those over cooking it and going over a barrier or into a car or tour bus. Its better to make it back in one piece. Also take enough water, they charge triple the price for it at Sa Calobra as they can, better off topping up your water at the respol Service station on the Lluc. Have an awesome ride and enjoy your time there.

    Nice bike! Just out of curiosity, because I know that bikefitting is the most important key to choose the right size, I noticed you are using 545 size, how tall are you and maybe you remember your inner length size? Many thanks for your response :)

      Hi Piotras, Im sorry for my very very late reply, Im not sure how I missed this. The thing with Pinarellos is they are very unique just like all our bodies, I would just advise going to a bike fitter for the best fitter, We ended up swapping out my size a month later for a 53cm because I was getting some over reach issues. 88cm inseam but my upper body is smaller.

      It's pretty packed with traffic, as it's the only way up from Sóller, especially in peak season. In winter, it's quiet but wet due to the humidity. So not much of a win. There are much more fun and challenging climbs here on the Island that us locals know about.

      @Pedallingthroughlife My personal favourite is Coll de Sóller, great hairpins and because of the tunnel almost traffic free. Also love la Creu out of Palma, and the whole Andratx/Galilea/Esporles area. Will be redoing Port de Valldemossa, and trying out Canonge next time too.

      Why would a road bike be any more difficult in Amsterdam than any other city? Flat bar town bikes with racks & whatnot are more convenient in any urban setting, & road bikes are mileage-makers. (shrug) Right?

      Hey, Thanks for commenting and glad you enjoyed the video! I am defiantly not complaining at people driving, especially to work, Im just mentioning it so that people are clear there is traffic, This road in particular leads to all the tourist view spots in the mountains, so a majority of them are hire cars. Hey, that's awesome! you have mountains right on your doorstep like Andratx! But be very careful, in Winter the mountain roads are slippy due to the cold, dew and less sun on the shaded parts. You can also head out to Calvià and head on the passes to Puigpunyent. Komoot has tons of loops. Pas Normal runs rides on a Monday, Wednesday and alternative Saturdays. Rapha and tanlines do similar with Cafe Du Cyclist doing a gravel ride every Friday evening at 7pm :) Lots going on :)

      Crazy expensive for an Ultegra Build - I got an F10 with Dura Ace Di2 for £6000 - totally a superior bike ............ I am an absolute fan of Pinarello essentially for the speed and handling but the F5/F7 is not what the brand is about - they should be selling the original F12 as the cost effective alternative - I would definitely buy an F12 and probably put a Campagnolo mechanical groupset on it

    • @Pedallingthroughlife
      @Pedallingthroughlife Рік тому

      Thanks for your comment @@FortunaCzNam appreciate your view. Owning this bike I can tell you that the f7 and even the F9 are superior bikes, all be it a groups option being the upgrade on those, the F5 is aimed to bring in a more entry level with the different carbon layup it offers as well as a groupset, it basically is replacing the Prince. F12 is a fantastic bike for sure, Friendly question to understand why you think the bikes are not about the brand, have you actually ridden a F5/F7? Because these things FLY! Appreciate your views and coming to my video :)

    • @FortunaCzNam
      @FortunaCzNam Рік тому

      I ride an F10 DA-Di2 with T1100 carbon - better than F5/7/9 etc............. Yes the Dogma flies, it is magnificent and arguably the best bike ever made, I think the F10 was the most successful in terms of the number of grand tour wins (mostly thanks to Froome) - the handling of the F10 is at least spectacular. You seem to have missed the point - you don't buy a Dogma to get a watered down frame (T700 / T900) and second tier components (105 / ultegra) - you buy a Dogma because you can afford the FINEST & BEST bike available so trying to sell me a Dogma F5/7 with 105 / ultegra components or T700 / T900 just isn't going to work - stupid marketing proposition - at that price point (say F7) I would buy either Bianchi Oltre XR4 or Time Alp D'Huez 01 with either Dura-Ace Di2 or Campag S. Record ............ There hasn't be careful thought about the marketing, you don't buy a Dogma to get T700 and 105 components - DUH STUPID !! You buy a DOGMA for the T1100 carbon, layup technology and the best components available, so their marketing should have been to keep the F12 (with T1100 carbon) in production at a lower price point than the newer Dogma F. The T1100 carbon and layup technology is what makes these bikes so very special - that's why you pay big $$$ - the frame. There are options to put together an amazing bike at the F7 price point - this would be an F12 (T1100) with Campag Super record mechanical - I would buy that but I would NOT buy T700 / T900 with 105 / Ultegra (stupid offering) - better bikes available elsewhere .........

    • @Bob-fb1oi
      @Bob-fb1oi 6 місяців тому

      @@FortunaCzNam You make great points comparing T110 vs. T900 but understand, unless you’re Chris Froome, the T900 for the typical crit racer or die hard rider is more carbon layup then you’ll ever need. Chris Froome can feel the difference between the carbon layups, but I’m sure he’ll say they’re marginal. It’s like the difference between a $150k Porsche Carreras 4S and a $180k Porsche 911 GTS, both cars have far more power and capabilities than 99% of the population needs or will ever reach maximum use. So the F7 with T900 will be more than be enough bike for almost all of us, there’s a diminishing return at the T1100 price point.
