Can an Electric Car Go Through a Car Wash? This is How
Переглядів 9 тис.2 роки тому
When it comes to keeping electric cars clean, some owners might wonder if the age-old adage that electricity and water don’t mix applies to electric cars. After all, no one wants to potentially damage their electric car by taking it through a car wash. You can put your electric car through a car wash without damaging your car. Electric cars are tested by manufacturers to ensure that they are sa...
Testing Regenerative Braking Down a Volcano | 0% to What?! charged in my electric car
Переглядів 5 тис.2 роки тому
To push the limits of my EV, I drove her to the top of a volcano to kill the battery and then coasted the electric car to the bottom. How much did regenerative braking recharge the battery? Regenerative braking is one of the reasons why I love driving an electric car. Haleakala volcano on Maui sits at 10,023 feet. A perfect volcano to test regenerative braking. I start with what regenerative br...

    I replace my 2015 sonata with a 2020 hybrid Accord. Went from averaging 33 mi a gallon, which is not bad. To 48 me a gallon, which is excellent. I can also drive it as an EV for short distances like going to the post office and grocery store. So get yourself a hybrid and get the best of both the gas and the electric world.

    This depends on the EV. My Hyundai Ioniq 5 can be switched into neutral, and you can tell the car to stay in neutral even when the car is off.

    Maybe you have it in one of your other videos, but for your water heater did you have to install an expansion tank on it? I'm trying to upgrade mine from gas to electric, and online sometimes I see an expansion tank and other times I don't so I'm confused if you need one at all.

    How steep was the downhill grade ? Luckily, no cow got in the road. I suppose you never had to use the disc brakes. I wonder if there's anywhere in the world where there is BUMPER to BUMPER traffic going a long downhill mountain road, in which case, maybe the disc brakes are in danger of FADING, despite regenerative braking, because you can't go too fast downhill. If this scenario happens, then there would be traffic regulating stop/go lights to keep traffic thinned-out.

    Great video, thank you. Fun Fact: we leased a 2013 Nissan Leaf for three years and loved it. We only used the Level 1 charger at home. We started out charging every second of every day, when we first got the car, if the car was home, it was plugged in. That lasted maybe 6 months then we found out we can contact our electrical company and have them put us on a special EV Plan and if we promise to charge only after 8 PM we would pay less for electricity so then we started only charging at night 8pm - 8am, that lasted maybe a year, then we realized we can get by, by only charging every other day, so we did that, I share this with you because the car only had an 84 mile range and we finished the 3 year lease by only charging maybe 3 days a week, yes still only on Level 1 charger, so before you run out there and hire an electrician to install an expensive Level 2 thingie in your garage, give the Level 1 charging a chase, it is better for the battery pack to trickle charge than fast charge anyway, and please check out my EV conversion if you're bored ...

    0:55 Replacing a gas hot water heater with electric will dramatically increase your load. Replacing a gas furnace with electric will DRAMATICALLY increase your load. Installing electric air conditioning will dramatically increase your load. So this video is not providing accurate, useful information.

    It’s different if you have a car wash where you drive onto a belt that moves , and tires don’t roll as you go thru 😳 In neutral, my front tires spin as the belt engages the front tires, the car “thinks” the car is rolling backwards, and engages parking brake, which temporarily shuts down the whole car wash

    • @pluginreport7304
      @pluginreport7304 Рік тому

      thanks for the question. Ask your electrician why you aren't seeing a major difference. Perhaps it is 240 volts but not enough amps. Some level 2 chargers show the amps that it is getting. 27 - 32 amps is typically the minimum breaker that is installed.
