In the comics the cool thing about this scene is that there were two red guards who were about to attack Luke. If I remember correctly, they didn’t because they were looking for the emperor.

Anakin looks like an elderly man here because he was drawing upon the dark side so much for years, it aged him a lot faster than normal, turned his eyes yellow and red and hus skin a pale white. But he is now happy and at peace and let go of the self hatred and anger that poisoned him and his eyes turned back to blue. Similar to using and abusing drugs a lot over the years.

When I saw this scene opening day in May 1983 there were people crying literally and others trying to hold back their tears. In the end both Luke and Anakin saved each other. Truly a powerful emotional but beautiful ending!!

Who else sees the Vader death scene as ludicrous? I did when I first saw it in 1983 in the theater. It just came off as weak. And having his force ghost in the reboot was laughable. Sorry, had to say it. Can't have Anakin and Vader exist at the same time. Even Kenobe knew this. To him, his protégé died a long time ago. To have his force ghost show up after Vader dies is naive, cartoonish, and just nonsensical. One wonders what Lucas was thinking at the time. Did he have young children in his household clouding his judgment as a professional filmmaker? Could be. You see what happened to Eddie Murphy's career?

Everything about Luke and Vader in this film honestly makes this my favorite movie of the original trilogy
